And @NBA-Fan:
the Drudge-Report is for you, what the Huffington Post is for me I guess... I wouldn't want to change, though.

I also hold conservative economic beliefs in contempt and tend to follow HuffPost plus some other news sources that I treat with strong skepticism at all time.

However, there are also disagreement even between rabid liberals like you and us :). I'm too much a libertarian to abide censorship of a mere offensive picture. So there is always place for agreement and disagreement in every spectrum of whatever thought and ideology you can name.

I agree. With the last statement, not with the Huffington Post, that news agency is more despicable than most. It has been bought and paid for the Democrats. In fact, I hold all US mainstream media in contempt. Read foreign news to see a real perspective on American politics. They can see better, because they are outside of our circle.

No no no, peek oil will be the collapse of USA and it's transformation into western USSR...and USSR problem was that people have had enough of all the lies, corruption, deaths, intimidation and living in terror and an never ending prison/police state.
USSR went broke and broke up because of that
The media here is a joke.:crazyeye: I get my news from Drudge.
The last thing I will say on Hitler LH is that it is Moduler. If want to play with him then fine. If not then you do not have to and that is fine to.:)
:lmao:

The Huffington Post is as bad as Drudge...

To say some are pro-american and some are anti-american is misleading. I bet most of the conspriracy theorists are pro-america - it's just another america they have in mind, one with a less secretive government, a lesser military-industrial-complex, one that shows a respectful attitude towards the non-american - the human in everyone in general. There is not something like an "illegal" human!

I just meant to say some don't want to hear the bad things the american government did and some want to believe every conspiracy theory out there.

If the 'anti-americans' have another america in mind isn't that saying they aren't happy with the current state of affairs?

I'm rather naieve on this subject but this is my logical explaination.
Automatically believing/deny'ing everything which suits you makes me think you're ignorant.

The level of balderdash in that thread exceeds the level of balderdash found in most OT topic, I must say.

There are two main options to figure out governments :

1 / They are made of a great bunch of gentle people, who reached power through kindness and mercy, and they're all very ready to change the world we live in so as to make of it a better place for us and our children.

2/ They are a made of a great bunch of scoundrels, who reached power through corruption and blackmail, and they're all very ready to do what it takes to keep this power, and they don't give a damn about anything but orgies and sexual relationship with teenage prostitutes.

I'll let everyone figure where the truth does reside. Probably varies from one of 'Our So Coolly Great And Inspired Leader' to another.

Ever hear of this new phenomena called "Gulf war syndrome" ? It's directly related to exposure to this munition. Many gulf war vets have it, most of these people were not even informed that they were using them by their superiors. google it the info is all there. Like this..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-8PlJVhogs

Hmmm. I handled depleted uranium on a weekly basis when I was in the Navy. I don't have Gulf War Syndrome. 4 years worth of exposure in a steel encased munitions magazine should have a more concentrated effect than in the open dessert. Just because you can google something and get information about it, doesn't make it true. Gulf War Syndrome has also been directly contributed to chemical weapons supposedly used by the Iraqis, exposure to crude oil in aerosol form and breathing mass amounts of exhaust from burning oil wells.

Rest insured, low level exposure to radiation only multiplies the risk of cancer, and tends to provoke sterility. Nothing a wise man would worry about ! And you won't grow an extra arm ! Extra !

Probably the syndrome you're talking of is caused by multiple factors, all adding to offer a unique effect. Modern warfare as infinite ways of killing and maiming the poor chaps who are actually involved in it. (mostly speaking about land forces, irakis didn't had any navy, as far as I know)

They did, sort of. If you call a few fast attack boats and patrol boats a navy.

I'm not too worried about the risk of cancer, because it runs in my family some, and as for the sterility, I had two kids after I got out, then had a vasectomy to finish the job the radiation apparently couldn't accomplish. So far, ten years out and no cancer yet though. Then again, maybe the radiation changed my genetic make up and now I am impervious to cancer. That always confused me though, radiation causes cancer, radiation is the therapy for cancer. What's up with that.

No, radiation doesn't "cause" cancer or kill it. Radiation alters the DNA of cells, particularly, the fastest growing cells the most. (This alteration eventually kills them, prohibiting them from functioning properly.) That's why Chemotherapy patients lose their hair first, hair is a faster growing cell. But cancer is a fast growing type of cell too, so it gets killed as well.

If the radiation alters the DNA of non-cancerous cells, but not to a fatal degree, it will just cause more mutations and deviations than an normal cell would have had. One of the possible outcomes of these mutations is cancer. So radiation can increase the likelihood of cells turning cancerous in the future.

Funny how we got on the topic of cancer on a thread about a dictator...

So, radiation does not cause cancer, just increases the likelihood of cancer. In my book that causes cancer. I liken that to a car crash doesn't kill, it just increases the chances your life will end at that exact moment.

Why? American news sources are jokes. Every single one is owned by a political party. If you want the news BBC is what you want. Sad really, coming from a native born American.

The issue I have with American news sources is that 60% of what they report is not real news. I also find that 30% more of what they report has a slant to it which either favors the political party they support or one of their sponsors. This means that 90% of what they report is to gain ratings and/or ad revenue. This leaves about 10% which is good, which means cable news is mainly good for general information. Which brings me back to Wikipedia, it is only good for general information (LH bios was snarky way of me saying that). Details and "controversy" is where Wikipedia falls flat.

As for news sources go, a variety is best. If you only get your news from Drudge/Huffington, MSNBC/FOX, or even BBC, there is a lot which is going to be missed. Of course, I find investing an hour in a (quality) book is generally more valuable than an hour of news; I guess which is why I do have the issue I have with Wikipedia since a lot of the books I have read, on my own and for university, have directly contradicted what I learned in public school, and Wikipedia's biases reminds me a lot of public school.

Funny how we got on the topic of cancer on a thread about a dictator...

Something that grants a bit of insight on said dictator's decision-making is that he was addicted to methamphetamines. Potential side effects of amphetamine use include paranoia, delusions, and psychosis. Bonus fact: Hitler freely distributed amphetamines to troops, part of the blitzkrieg.

Cozart - Eating food can make you fat, so then eating food makes you fat? Just using your logic here.

Edit for generalstaff - even the 10% that is real news is slanted. Just look at Fox News, if Obama does something they can't say is WRONG, they report it as "Is Obama really making the right decision?" or something along those lines, with commentary like "he could have done things differently!" It's a smorgasbord of propaganda, choose your flavor! On public schools, I went to them... in Utah... /agree, they're pathetic. The private schools were pathetic too tho, seems to be a Utah thing to have terribad schools.

Bonus fact: Hitler freely distributed amphetamines to troops, part of the blitzkrieg.

American pilots are still on speed, so that is nothing Nazi-specific.

Funny how we got on the topic of cancer on a thread about a dictator...

It's not funny at all. It's what I said the whole time:
Fascism is the cancer of the society, to prevent it growing is essential.
Doing nothing is like saying: "well I could live for a few more years but well, I better leave my cells doing whatever they want."

Hitler in a Videogame can be a multiplicator - not to 99,99% of the cells, but the 0,01% who get stimulated first, then animated, then excited, then motivated to spread the (cancerous) word - "Hitler is fascinating, you can't disagree on that", "don't make the Holocaust something special, there were many other crimes", followed by the standardized "he built the Autobahn/highways, at least" onto the inevitable "he was right about the jews, the jews still hold the money and the power". These are small steps, still...

American politics overall is a sad sad joke, but it's not funny for the taxpayer who feel pretty much like fleeced sheep slaves. :) USA at this stage of it's history is more corrupt than the USSR ever was. Hail lenin! :)

Blackflag - Yes. Eating food can make you fat, eating food does make you fat. Have you seen anyone who is malnourished that is fat. It doesn't happen. People who get cancer also breath, but does any say oxygen is what caused the cancer. No, but if radiation has a direct correlation, such as in the cancer rates in Nagasaki and Hiroshima, then radiation is a direct cause of cancer, not "it facilitates it". By putting your understanding of my logic into my own example above, "a car crash doesn't kill, it just increases the chances your life will end at that exact moment.", then driving causes car crashes which cause death, driving causes death. No. That's not what I was trying to say.

The point I was making is radiation poisoning is directly related to certain types of cancer, whereas one could say that it causes certain types of cancer, and that cancer treatments include radiation therapy among many others.

Yes I back cozart's claims concerning the link between radiation and cancer. It's shocking to me some people would claim otherwise, it's all grammar school knowledge basically. In regions where depleted uranium was used in wars such as Kosovo and Iraq, not only are infant mortality rates and mutation defects in epidemic proportions but cancer among the adults is very high as well.

No one claimed otherwise, you're creating a fictitious argument.

No offense, cr0ws, but this statement is outrageously ridiculous. No Americans are disappearing in the middle of the night to never be seen by their families again at the hands of the government. A large segment of the population isn't being forced to live on collective farms and then forced to live on less food than is possible. I read a biography some years ago by a woman who tells of listening to her brother cry every night as he slowly starved to death. The ladies mother had chosen to feed some of her kids so that they might survive, and had to therefore cut off food to others.

Our prisoners have access to medicine, attorneys, religion, recreation. I'm not sure you get that in Russian prisons today.

Our elected leaders step down at the end of their terms, and are replaced with others chosen by the people. You have 2 parties and independents to chose from, or you can not vote at all if you like. In many countries, you will vote for the 'leader' or you will be shot. You get one choice, and your vote is merely a gesture of acquiescence.

I realize that a lot of the world does not like America. Personally, I don't care about that one bit. Untamed animals like Islami-fascists will always despise a nation that represents freedom. China fears that our ideology will corrupt their controlling grip on their populace. Mexico fears our culture even as they encourage their citizens to illegally cross our borders and send money back to Mexico. Venezuela rages against us, but would collapse into chaos if we quit buying their oil. The same goes for the Middle East.

I still can't believe there are people out there who would disparage the removal of Saddam by the USA. Some apparently prefer rape camps and systematic murder and intimidation to the occasional civilian casualty. Personally, I'm opposed to nation building, but for totally different reasons than "American imperialism" or "whatever lame reason we hate Americans this week".

I'm a Fortress America advocate myself. I believe that we would do just fine removing our troops from all other nations, building offshore trade depots, and forbidding foreign nationals from entering American territory. I personally believe that is the only thing that will save us from the nuclear bomb that will eventually find its way into an American city. Unfortunately, when that happens, many of the liberties our clueless citizens take for granted while whining and bleating will go away. Our constitution, which provides so many liberties for our citizens (not foreign nationals) will be swept aside with our Republic and the world will see a very ugly America awaken in place of that lost Republic. Watch out Canada and Mexico, you will have a lot of resources that a newly born American military state will need. Maybe you should tighten your borders to outsiders now forestall this end? Because you will last hours against any American dictator that wishes to invade.

From history to predictions. Whatever it is, it is just history repeating itself. Democracies fall in two ways. To another power, or into totalitarian power. With enough nukes to incinerate the planet, America won't fall to another power. The other option, however, is potentially just one terrorist act away.

In that event, cr0ws, statements regarding government conspiracies will not only be true, they will very quickly involve the speaker of said words. Involve meaning that you are strapped to a chair and screaming for help from God. The proof that you do still live in a free society is that you can accuse the government of things, and be around to do it again.

Western culture has this sickness right now, a self fed guilt for having been so successful. It is self defeating, you can see it in Europe as they allow in more and more immigrants who are making no attempt to assimilate. Eventually so many unassimilated outsiders will be there that there will either be a civil war in the European union, or it will simply cease to exist and the original populations will be the ones forced to assimilate. The riots in France, the bombings in the English streets and Spanish trains, these are just precursors. Spain already surrendered by altering the path of their elections.

In the US, we have the same guilt, we allow 3-5% of our population to be illegal residents, any of which may well harbor a device to end our Republic.

Ancient civilizations built walls for a reason. History teaches us many lessons, and that is to keep the barbarians on the other side of the gates. You can turn barbarians into civilized and peaceful members of the world community, but you don't do that by making your homes less secure. Nor do you do it by nation building wars such as Iraq, Somalia, or Afghanistan unless you are prepared to use brutality and subjugate the locals. Western civs don't do that. How Western civs do it is by exporting culture via radio, Western goods, and religion. Just like in Civ. A city that flips by culture means no units die.

Another long post brought to you by Crusis.

I guess the moral of the story is: Western gov't is imperfect, yes, but there are no perfect human institutions. We live in a society that is fairly free, fairly wealthy, and fairly secure. We should be vigilant against all enemies, foreign and domestic, but we shouldn't see enemies where none exist while failing to see those that do.

Everyone remember the images on TV of the Palestinians dancing and raising their AK-47s in the air shooting as the WTC towers fell? Barbarians at the gates. Sell them a Big Mac, a Coca-Cola, Sony radio and a Nike running suit. Feed them so much food that they 'just don't feel like jihad today.' as they rub their bellies. People who have nothing to lose will behave like they have nothing to lose. The key to world peace is the GNPs of all nations, and the education of all peoples.

Hopefully someday there is someone in Saudi Arabia talking about the conspiricies that the gov't is up to and the gov't there ignores him. That is progress.
