Who said the civs that restart in the unexplored parts of the map were easy to deal with???

They are great cheaters!

Firstly I don't know how the heck the manage to irrigate 6 squares in no time and with no access to water! Seconldy They have two starting positions!!!!

It took me 5 turns to kill the Russians that had settled in north Africa when I took Moscow they didn't die. So I kept on searching! All Africa was uncovered and still no St. Petersburg! When I reached America, 10 turns after Moscow conquest, I saw that the russians had 2 cities of size 4 and one of size 2 there already!!!!

Yes, the restarting civs do cheat with irrigation and city sizes. Even the original ones do as well. When I got to the Mongols, a couple of their cities were well irrigated even though they were nowhere near a river (which was useful for me when I captured them).
I also got an advanced tribe city of size 4 from a hut. Has anyone else got something like this before?

Those mongols are cheating SOB's. In the same turn they acquired mobile warfare they attacked one of my cities with 6 armored tanks.

According to the sierra strategy guide the ai is only supposed to cheat in diety level. Oh well what's this world coming to anyway?

noughmaster,

Check out the Scrolls of Ancient Wisdom. It shows how irrigation can be done without a water source.

An advanced tribe from a hut can be as big as size 4. It can also come with none to (I beleive) 4 city improvements already in it.

RJP,

The computer cheats on every level.

Deity is just where it cheats the most.

Thanks for that. Yeah, the city I got from the hut had a couple of improvements.

I can live with the cheats, they make up for the countless stupid stuff the Ai does.
I find it weird though with the Russians restarting two different locations if the Celts are killed early, mine started in Russia and India, and became #1 Ai civ after I killed the Spanish.
I did a little test with cheat mode, I save/reloaded on the turn before killing the Celts. I had the Russians start in two locations 5 of 7 attempts, and the Romans in one spot the remaining two.
Whats with those Russians?

a question: do you get score points for killing civs?

Now that my SS is on the way, I made some military units for hunting down respawning Civs, and started killing the original civs (I have not wiped any civ out yet.... just contained them). Now that I have killed all civs but the Mongols, not a single civ has respawned. Not one. I'm assuming it's because either they are afraid of my stealth fighters which can now reach any potential respawn spot, or because the space race has begun (or maybe because my SS was launched).

So it seems I don't get to wipe a single extra civ out. Oh well...
