OK, I'm kinda incurring the wrath of the Mods here but I believe that there are more FF fans in here than in OT so here goes :scared:

Can anyone explain the symbolism behind two things in the Final Fantasy film Advent Children.

Firstly, whats the deal with the wolve references? At the start of the film you see a wolf, and Cloud's bike is called Fenrir, which is the name for a monsterous wolf from Norse Mythology. Also, Cloud has a buckle on his left shoulder that's the motif of a wolf.

Secondly, whats the deal with the pink tie wrapped around the arm? All the major characters have the same thing on their left arms? Did I misssomething about what it's meant to mean?

i presume the pink tie is Aeris's sash/ribbon thing.

as for the wolf, maybe thats just the theme they went with. that, of to show how cloud becomes a bit of a loner during the film.

^correct about the lone wolf thing.

The ribbon has two references; In the final Fantasy game series there is an item called a ribbon that prevents all status effects. The Geostigma is powerfull enough to break the power of the ribbon. The other meaning is Aeris's ribbon that holds the white materia.

Ok guys, thanks very much, it was really bugging me :)

I never thought about the Ribbon from the game.... suppose it makes sense.

Also the wolf buckle might be the results of they mixing things from FF8.

They added gunblade from FF8... and Squall, the protagonist of FF8, has a lionhead pendant called "Lionheart". The wolf buckle might be inspired by that one... at least that's my first thought after seeing the buckle.

It doesn't bear that much of a resemblance to Griever.
