The Stellar War - Action Chatroom!

You don't have any weapons unless you get a weapon-based skill. So consider doing that as soon as you get some SP. :p

The Dance

Richard, Remy, and I have come far. We have taken down slaver patrols, annihilated enemy camps, and even killed an illusory dragon. We have expanded our skills, and recently a group of mages have decided to join us on our travels. But there is one conquest we have not yet made: Females.

Invited to the dance my by the Baronness Mailoral, the three of us drifted downstairs only to see Eithlena in a confrontation with her mother, Laiin. Yet her demeanor changed from angry to graceful in the span of a second when she saw Remy and I, a dwarf and a man side by side, an unusual sight. After introductions, Remy somehow managed to slip off with Eithlena. He is a mage after all. I followed soon after she commented on how she was happily married. I was insulted. Can a dwarf not compliment a woman without her thinking he was seducing her? Humans can be very strange sometimes.

As i entered the hall, I was offered wine, and sipped it, then set it back down. I wanted a clear head as always. making a fool of yourself is never a good thing, drunk or not.

Soon I spotted the Baronness Mailoral in the midst of a crowd talking of our magic is not magical at all. Apparently some people ahd it in their blood to re arrange 'particles' to their will, which are the 'building blocks of life' according to her. It was all very confusing, but she seemed to know what she was talking about.

Seeing as I couldn't talk to her, my eyes sighted on a pair of twins, absolutely beautiful. I later learned they were daughters of the Baronness. I asked them to dance, and they each took a dance with me. Never have I seen a human dance so gracefully in life of 32 years (I recently found that my birthdate was false and that the one I had been using was forged without my knowledge. I am not 26:().

We danced, we talked, then I kissed their hands and bade them a good night . My ears of war were tingling, and I so looked over and saw a short little Goblin standing with the Old man from my group named Richard. Such a grumpy little fellow. The Old Man, not the Goblin. As i got over there, I learned he was the former Goblin King Koton, and we got on just fine talking of free beer, fighting, and how these accelerators were just nonsense.

Remy was having a good old time at this point, dancing and seducing Eithlena with that charm of his. But he seemed slightly intimidated when she was dragged away by her brother, and her mom Laiin came over. She laid down the law. They were not to see each other. Eventually remy agreed to meet with her in secret. Only Thalia knows how this will turn out. I sure as hell doubt it will end in any good way at all.

As the party was winding down, Laiin came back in form the balcony, a man dressed as a Ranger by her side. She said that there was something HUGE landing just a few miles away. well, in Eithlena's words she was a **tch, but she was sure an observant one. Oh yeah. The thing had a roar of a thousand dragons. Anybody would have noticed, and everybody had. She was just stating the obvious.

I don't like her all that much.

But my gut told me I would not have another chance any time soon to court a girl. My gut told me that i would feel desperate pain soon. My gut told me Haven was in incredible danger. I told my gut that it had better be wrong. I told my gut, that if it was right, then my gut won't be eating well for a while. I told my gut that I thought it was right.

Bad things were about to happen. Bad things threaten the dwarves, dragons, and now they threaten the beautiful twins i have started to regard with a big brother protectiveness already. Bad things will die soon.

I pray to Thalia that she may help me in the coming endeavors.

Opening Engagements

Only a few hours ago, we made first contact with the new enemy. They are fearsome foes. Remy, Richard, and I, took 6 dwarves out to investigate, and met up with a patrol being slaughtered. We tried to flank the enemy, but after we opened fire, they started to overwhelm us. We fought back, terrorized the tank drivers, stopped them, slowed them, and took out scores of enemy soldiers. But it was not enough. i was nearly sad by the time we got back to clement.

It was hard on us. After meeting with a clan warrior, and then a war council headed by the warmaster, we headed over to the healers. I needed that desperately.

It seems that magic is a poor substitute for whatever the enemy is using to produce such fearsome forces.

A brave new world.

Agent X: "Begin describing Operation Exodus, Colonel."

Eva: "I marveled at the brand new war equipment arranged for landing in the ship. We had already left orbit and were fast approaching the ground. Our mission was to clear a nearby camp of Darwinians so as to allow our factory ships, airstrips, and artillery batteries room to set up."

Agent X: "So there was a serious concern about Darwinian resistance?"

Eva: "No, not really. Intelligence indicated a total lack of emissions from Darwin, so there could be no technology beyond the Dark Ages."

Agent X: "Ok. So tell me about your mission?"

Eva: "It went perfectly. Textbook pincer assault, textbook mechanized advance. There were a few enemy snipers, but nothing too serious. Then...A Company, commanded by Captain Hanson, was attacked and nearly slaughtered by enemy infantry and mounted units. Contrary to our expectations, the Darwinians used rifles and decent tactics against us."

Agent X: "You cleared a zone for the Generation Ship?"

Eva: "Yes, I did. It seems so simple back then..."

Well, here we are. Darwin.

It’s been a long journey here and putting up with the tea on that ship has really been a trial. All in teabags, not a leaf to be found on the entire ship. And the chances of finding any here are so remote as to be unthinkable. Not looking to be a pleasant war at all. Still, command assures us that the enemy won’t be cutting our supply lines any time soon, so at least we’ve got a steady supply of the stuff.

But you don’t want to hear about the tea situation do you? You want to hear about the historical moments! Have I seen any aliens? Communicated with them? What do they use instead of tea? Well, maybe not that, we’ve already established that we don’t want to hear about tea.

Aliens. Yes, we’ve seen a few. Shot a few. Not much in the way of communication though, Maria is having far better success with that than me. Of course, when you’re shooting and sneaking and all that it’s a bit hard to get up a conversation an’ all. And yes, we’re doing an awful lot of shooting and sneaking. It is an invasion you know, shooting and sneaking is standard practice!

Initial landings went quite well. We got our objective under control, nothing important, but command wanted us to check it out in case of surprises. Then we had to link up with the regulars again. Much more exciting that. They’d taken a small position a few miles away, and were running into a spot of bother from the locals. By the time we got there, the fellows up in space had spotted over 1000 men launching a counterattack. Of course, while its a large number you have to remember they didn’t have much in the way of weaponry, only small arms, and outdated at that. Very much a regular’s fight, we were only there to make up numbers. Most of it was handled by the chaps in the arty division. Not exactly cricket, but when you’re up against numbers you can’t be too picky about how to make ‘em manageable. Freddy and Stevens got a little closer than they were expecting to that bombardment, but they came out fine.

Not much to say really, been a textbook run so far, and looking to stay that way. Empire’s been in the settlement business for years, we’ve got the knack of it pretty well by now. Certainly handled things easily enough so far, and once we get ourselves established we should be able to roll over the place in no time. Hopefully then we’ll be redeployed somewhere we can get some proper tea.

-----

No Tea Dang It! Still, arty is certainly putting us in the lead for this fight. Have fun being slaughtered from a few miles off, yah native scum! ;)
