I seeAnother question; Why is mountaineering a medieval tech instead of a classical tech? Hannibal crossed the Alps as did the Romans otherwise the Romans short sailing would be stuck in Italy.

To simulate Hannibal, could a new promotion be added, available only to Great Generals, that allows units in the General's space to cross mountains?

I love this idea. The question is what tech would be required for this promotion?

I'm not so sure. The best use of siege is to suicide it. The AI doesn't understand that they might be giving away some siege units to the player.

How about completly blocking siege from attacking? They would be allowed to bombard city defence and mabe to perform ranged attacks.
I think it is more realistic than allowing catapults to charge.
But I think, it would need much work with rebalancing units, and with AI.

That would make taking cities pretty much impossible. RIght now, usually you need to suicide 1 or 2 siege units to be able to take a city. Otherwise, it would take like 4x the defenders to win.
Not, if their ranged attacks would cause collateral damage. Also separate ranged and mele str (as like it is in Fall Further) would be good idea, so siege units would be very powerfull when bombarding, but lame when deffences.
I am not very up to date with all bug fixes in all mods - but I've heard that ranged attacs cause some crashes, so I think this could burry my idea ;-)
