I'm pleased with the map i found already, and i'm using it, finding cultures on Wikipedia, and finding who is related to who culturally/linguistically, and grouping them up, and creating countries. It'll take awhile, but i'm already done half of Western Africa's Coast.

A little teaser of the work i've been doing so far.

Sigh... I suppose I'll go get my weapons... we need to go to war to prevent this separatism from spreading... unifications and expansions FTW!

@ The Last One

I can't wait to see what an ethnically-correct Africa would look like. :)

Also @ the Last One

Say! Would you by any chance remember where the key for the Balkanised Europe is? A friend of mine wants to know what ethnic groups and such each section represents.

Went through Wikipedia and added any region that wanted to breakaway from a nation and had a) a rebel movement, b) a name, or c) was bigger than Rhode Island.

Edit: Tan box between Ireland and Scotland is Isle of Man IIRC.

I'd like to know when did we attempt to break away from the Czech Rep. and what "rebel movement" do we have :D

There are tons of separatists missing, BTW.

The borders of the Catalan Countries, Euskal Herria, Galiza, the Two Sicilies, Ausonia (WTH is this?), Normandie, Frisia and Scotland make no sense.

BTW, how come Cornwall is independent but not Wales? Why does northern ireland still belong to the UK? Care to explain, please?

The Altered Three Kingdoms of China

ThreeLands.png

Wu (Fifth Chinese Republic) - located in Hangzhou, the leadership of the Fifth Republic is a loose coalition of liberals, democrats, Christians, businessmen, and the urban Middle Class, banded together to reunite the nation in the name of democracy. In reality, the Central Government faced the same problems as the First and Second Republics in the wake of the Xinhai Revolution - corrupt politicians and powerful local leaders setting themselves up as warlords. Nevertheless, the Hangzhou Regime has the support of many of the Powers and of Taiwan.

Wei (State of China) - Northern China is ruled by a clique of former PLA generals, who imposed militarist rule on the population. Setting themselves up in Beijing, the Wei Generals pointed to the relative stability of their territories as opposed to the perceived lawlessness in the south and west as the evidence of their right to rule. The Wei Clique uses old PRC symbolism to strengthen their legitimacy.

Shu (Qian Dynasty) - a fierce nationalist, the founder of the self-proclaimed Da Qian viewed the Wu as corrupt puppets of foreigners and the Wei as brutal warlords. The Qian advocated a return to the Imperial era and the return of "traditional values". Militarily and economically weakest of the three factions, Qian tactics revolved around guerrila warfare.

Outside of Wei, Shu or Wu control:

Tibet (Xizang) - the Chinese governor of the province declared himself "King of Tibet" as China and the world descended into self-destructive madness. Unpopular with his Chinese subjects and even less popular among the Tibetans.

Xinjiang - After central rule collapsed, there was an attempt to set up an Islamic state in Xinjiang. This went horribly wrong and the region has since been embroiled in constant tribal, religious and ideological warfare. The Governor in Urumqi is content to work with whichever side is winning, and reap the profit.

Qinghai - the province is ruled by several warlords, who reached a compromise regarding territory and the province is now relatively peaceful. Several warlords are Tibetan and are plotting the liberation of Tibet from its self-styled Chinese King.

Taiwan - De facto independent since 1949, the independence of Taiwan was finally proclaimed following the March 16 Incident, by which time Beijing or anyone else was powerless to intervene. Taiwan keeps a close watch on events on the other side of the strait, sending arms and volunteers to help the fledgling Hangzhou government.

Uhm, if i remember correctly, it was a page about different secessionist movements in different states, and each secessionist movement was basically a gang, similar to how Kosovo is, which is one big gang that gained control of the govornment.

I'll find it, and i'll edit this post when i do.

Edit, actually it didn't take long to find. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_active_autonomist_and_secessionist_movements#Europe

It isn't just about gangs, but also govornment party's and movements. Tell me if that's what your friend is looking for, but i believe that is what i used while making my map.

TBH, I didnt really try on the African map, and for Europe, I....ran out of colors., I know..

I'll try again with the Wikipedia map a bit later. For now, here's one of the states.

As you see, i've done a little more work, and i noticed that perhaps the reason why Nigeria is fairly successful compared to other African countries, is that even though it has tons of little tribes, all those tribes are somewhat related. On the other hand, other tribes in Western Africa, are spread out throughout numerous countries, which might link to their lack of success compared to Nigeria.

What i'm going to do is make two maps, one of just the plain old African country with the tribes, and another with the tribes, but with the current African borders for comparison.

The Menagerie of Europe. Every movement (excl two or three) is on the map. A bit confusing, but whatever.

Some are too small, while others are exaggerated. :) Too tired to go into detail right now though. :)

Hey, I tried. A lot of these mvoements have conflicting areas, and I'm not good at free-handing borders.

@TheLastOne

Thanks! It was exactly what he wanted!

You tried? Then what's that thing between Aragon and Navarra? Why does Murcia belong to the Catalan countries together with Valencia and the Baleares but not Catalonia? Why is the shape of Aragon so strange and why does the Aran Valley belong to it? Why is Extremadura independent? And Andalusia? And Cantabria? And León? Your Iberian Peninsula sucks, dude.

I'm sorry I upset your nationalist sentiment. I don't see you making your own, nor putting in the effort.
