Not really, a colony to me is defined as an area where the coloniser, feels superior to the original inhabitants, tries to settle its own people in the land regardless of the original inhabitants, imposes their own culture or religion upon the indegious population and has a small coloniser speaking the colonising country's tongue elite ruling the large "peasant" population speaking their own tongue.

At least 3 of these traits are present in any colonisation effort. For British India, we have "feels superior", "imposing culture" and "Elite ruling" For the American colonies, we have "Settling", "Imposing Culture" and "Feels Superior"

Also, colonisation does not need to be geographically cut off from the metropolis. Russia's colonies were Siberia and everything west of the Urals, America's Colonies were pass the Apalachians and Alegeria is just a boatride from France.

So Finland's large finnish-speaking population was ruled by a small Swedish Speaking Elite. Check 1

Sweden imposed Swedish culture by using Swedish as a medium for goverment, admistration and educational purposes. Check 2

Many Swedes settled in Finland still surviving today as majority Swedish places. Check 3

Finland was treated much like a colony by Sweden

I'm surprised no one made a map of Greater Georgia.

Not sure why you wanted this, but here you go.

I predicted such a map.

I knew I should have been more specific.

Of course combining the independent state with US state, and calling it Greater Georgia would have been funnier.

Why would anyone want to make Missouri greater? Make it lesser.

So, you want Portugal an island, France and the Lowlands one island, Denmark an island and effectively cut Europe in two (assuming you want the crossed out countries to be gone)? Come to think of it, that would make an interesting map.

Political influence in Europe:

Blue - pro Britain/USA
Pink - Russia
Green - Muslim
Fawny - pseudo-neutral
Mixed colors - mixed influence
Gray - uncertain, or self-oriented

Thats Andulasia...

I think you're intending it to be Leon, but Leon really ain't that big. They're kinda weird, Leon and Old Castille are lumped together in the same autonomous community, so it's not clear which provinces are in which region... and historically Castille was originally a Leonese county.

Since my internet was down I decided to make myself productive and create a new map. An entire hour in MS Paint:

:)

Now I need to find a map of the solar system.

How'd that take an hour? :p

Here is the map at the end of one of my alternate history TLs, in the year 1883, with cities that have populations of fifty thousand inhabitants or more. Winkel Tripel projection, extensive work by Symphony D. and some by Disenfrancised.

Somewhere in 1555, my own little world and alternative history
