Alternate Timeline Building Experiment, v1.0

I might start a Cradle NES in an Earlier Era... Any suggestions? It would be like Jal's Quicker and Easier, except Rapider and Simpler, and speedy yet comprehensive updates! Pick a Cradle: any cradle!

Great Update.

This Update= World of Warcraft^Strangelove^All Good Fiction^ the universe

While I'm still sleep-deprived and shocked from the realization that there will be no more large 12-page long physics, literature, math, etc finals for a good while now (the preceding is little more than an excuse for spamming):

Charles Li, you like Dr. Strangelove? If you hadn't already been elevated to the rank of a respectable NESer in my mind, you are now. Although your mentioning WoW almost makes up for your good taste in movies :p...

Does not compute. :p

Heh, to each his own then; I've never actually tried WoW actually... perhaps it's not as not-good as I consider it.

Btw, while we're somewhat-not-really on the subject of good movies: does anyone on here know Akira Kurosawa, the Japanese awesome-movie-guy? Or Tarkovsky, the Russian awesome-movie-guy? Ah, I need to torrent "Ran" and watch it again... twas a very good movie.

I just listed random names in WWW: it is a really good place to find words to make people think you are good. :P

BTW, I hate WoW: It steals friends from me and it steals time from my friends. :P

BTW: Why do you have to wait until NOW to think I am respectable?

I don't plan on doing a 'normal' NES based on this, at least not for a long while. In retrospect I don't like some of the anomalies and the fact it clings to the real world outcomes too much. That said I don't think a NES is impossible, even at this 1985 stage, I guess it could be abstracted and simplified a bit.

Anyways, I would like to go ahead with one more era if people are interested, but not so grandiose, like maybe fitting onto one page - although I realise I keep saying that and failing :)

At this point I don't feel compelled to do a big list of who-owns-what. Anyone who has followed this probably has a good idea. Not much changed from last time. Qoou now has the Huraskans, Matt0088 has influence in Hygura from the Argine immigrants. Lord Iggy still has some influence in Marzhung-Sezvyr. Charles Li has the little pacific islands republics. Luckymoose has influence in north-central Africa and with the Manzuru. etc. I will post a big list if anyone wants. Actually a player influence map or something might be more appropriate.

Feel free to post ideas and plans for the future world :)

Yeah, I'd like that too. With the Zul people gone, I'm not sure if I still have some influence over Oceania.

Oh. My. God.

Daft, I love you. I had forgotten about this, and here it comes, rising from the ashes. A beautiful map, a delicious update! Good time!

I am pleased with the Tiandishi Empire. We did pretty well, not becoming involved in a horrific decade-long war. Who needs to be at the absolute cutting edge of everything?

I am also glad that Mingdebuism is still a major religion!

I'd like a player influence map, I guess, although I already know what I control. :p

Finally, although I'd love a final update to round everything off, honestly this already was a pretty big finish. But if we're going to continue this on one more time, as a little "epilogue" sort of thing, I'll definitely submit orders.

Awesome update Daftpanzer! I think it's a fitting conclusion, bringing us to the equivalent of contemporary times- we can go into the future, if you like.

Double post likes double post.

/Interlude.

Planning and doing are two totally separate things. You like the second one.

Alright Daft!! Awesome update!! Onwards for Takaraji!! The stage is set for my next phase and resurgence! Say hello to the United Pacific Federation everyone!! :D

Hey thanks again!

OK I get the impression there's muted interest, but some people like Lord_Iggy and Thlayli (off-thread comments) would prefer me to revive DaftNES2 NAO.

I would like to do an epliogue type thing, touching on future technology and space stuff. It would probably be like the last part of the last update, which I wrote in a few hours. I don't want to work out and write about another world war, not in such detail anyway, that is the thing that really took me ages to finish.

Player influence map please!

I will make one at some point, I might leave it till the very end though.

Are you suggesting that forethought and discipline, as opposed to impulsiveness, by the mod can lead to better game experiences? Heresy :p

I agree on DaftNES 2, but you should finish this one so you can say you completed one epic project!

The Sezvyr ARE the northern Sarvonians Masada.

Keep your dirty individualist-revisionist interpretations of history to yourself.

Does my avatar look like it cares? A few short turns using limited stats is a good way to ready yourself for DaftNES2. It also allows you to road-testing rules with limited players in a world which with nukes should be fairly static.

We don't even have a half decent ideological divide which I was about to exploit. Dirty selfish individualists.

Yes. Making an impulsive decision to do something which you wouldn't otherwise do.
