Amazon blocks sale of rape videogame

well, yeah, the game's pretty sick, but personally, I don't see how it's worse than, say, Manhunt?

Because there is sex and sex is bad, unless your married, and even then you should only be doing it to make children.

On the other hand, it's perfectly okay to brutally murder people who don't deserve it.

The Japanese have issues. As screwed up as America is, rape is not one of our national past-times like Japan.

Heh, so criticism a genre of video games not only illicits a defence of all video games, but also of the whole country that the video game was made in.

Japan is the only country what comes up with this sort of filth, so yes it does.

So, what's worse? A society that lets kids play virtual rape, or a society that lets kids play virtual mass murders (our society)? No, I'm not defending the rape game. I just see parallels for what we can tolerate in our own society.
Ha. Good point. It's ironic that so many people can usually justify one as being pure fantasy but not the other. S&M and BDSM share similar elements and usually draw the same sort of criticisms.

Right, because the thrust of the games in question are about having sex for the sake of enjoying sex. While raping someone else...

Right...because near pedo rape games are just like Fallout 3 where you murder mutants, ghouls, and sometimes people...

And the fact is, violent video games do get their criticism. Or have you forgotten this guy;

Does playing Grand Theft Auto increase the likelihood of the player committing real murder?

Does this game increase the likelihood of the player committing real rape?

I'm curious...

Come on thats morally subjective. Im sure there have been plenty of cultures where rape has had a meaningful purpose, the fact that ours doesnt, doesnt mean it cant have.

A lot of people in this thread have been very close minded. Its understandable that we follow our societies rules due to peer pressure and not other societies' because they cant pressurise us but it doesnt mean that our is the only way or superior way

Name one culture. Go one step further; Name one culture where individual rights are valued where rape has a meaningful purpose.

This is like NAMBLA members pointing to Classical Greece as an example of the societal good of pedastry.

That's quite a statement, considering america manages about 15 times as many rapes as japan per head.

No, which is why this is both humorous and sad at the same time.

Baseball is our national past-time, though clearly not the most popular sport in the nation.

Rape is the Japanese national past-time, though clearly not the most popular activity in Japan.
