America: Write Your Own History

Frank Johns

Come on guys vote Foster! He is the only one that can save the economy!

Changing the civic to State Property will wreck the economy and we will never be able to recover from it.

Given the state of the elections and the split of the Communist party from the Social Labor Movement, I am not sure whether the Compromise is relevant anymore. Also some of the Socialist leaders themselves seem to have disregarded one of the provisions of the compromise i.e. a non-interventionist foreign policy. Bruce is supporting imperialism for instance.

I'd like to add, it is impossible for Radical Communists to shed the demand for a centrally planned economy, that would be as good as dissolution as it would negate the very character of a Communist Party. A successful compromise would be impossible if we are asked to revert away from our aim of central planning. The compromise for us is that we are not going to retreat from republicanism, thus keeping democracy intact. So if a Communist candidate does become president, and changes to a Centrally planned economy, there is always the option of a democratic election to chose someone who may move America out of it after five years. It is something only the citizens of America can and should decide on.

Given that he has a chance at winning and he was my first choice, I vote William Z. Foster

Also, the main deal breaker with Bruce is the fact that he supports Imperialism.

Exactly. Any more imperialism will surely cause America's fall.

What about Calvin Coolidge?

 Ales, every single election you ask something like this. A lot of candidates are either going to be added or removed because of the alternate history. In this case, there is no Republican Party anymore as it disbanded because it hasn't received votes. If the National Labor candidate or the Democratic Party win, there is a chance for a gradual reconstruction of the Republican Party. The Harding Democratic Faction, if it won, would have brought back the Republican Party, and the Hardings did in fact have several real-life Republicans.

Coolidge was to cool to be in this election

edit: apparently this was my 1000th post

I wonder how long it will take them to realize I edited this.

No it will save our economy!

It will wreck it. I have not played RFC for a long time but I cannot see how adopting State property will help our economy.

I'm planning on releasing another issue of the American Telegraph later, will include interviews with Edsel Ford the leading American industrialist, and Philip P. Liped the leader of the SPA, there will also be latest election news.

By the way guys, with the increase of voters (with now takes about 2 pages for everyone to vote) AND people writing in their independent stories, AND having discussions, I'm going to start bumping the election message so it's at least in the first two pages of the thread. You guys may have noticed I have already begun doing this.

I've been playing it recently and State Property doesn't help that much TBH. Quite honestly the once the helps the most really is the Free Market option. Then again any of the other economic civics are better then environmentalism.

Keep in mind the United States in my game is HUGE, and with tons of imports and exports the corporations are gigantic. This causes a lot of pollution and unhappiness with the SVN, and that is why a 40% culture rate is needed to keep people content in the larger cities, and many cities still have pollution problems with all green buildings being built.

I haven't played DOC in a while, mostly because I'm waiting for the next version to be released before playing again. In the original RFC, state property was always very helpful, it brought extra food and production in addition to an expansion bonus especially for civs which grew too large ( like the US here ) . The Freemarket was more trouble than its worth, a relatively small economic bonus for the chance of instability caused by market crashes. Its happened in this game twice I think. Free Market is really a gamble of a civic.

Yes. And I don't think free market causes instability anymore; any economic civic can cause instability except environmentalism which makes it so negative economy points don't count. State property no longer gives expansion bonuses, but totalitarianism does. However, switching from egalitarianism to totalitarianism would not only remove the +2 happiness from the America UP, but also give unhappiness for not having egalitarianism (which in this game, with this many factions, would probably disable some of the larger cities from doing anything).

Is pollution really that big of a problem? I've always ignored it and never had a problem other then cities growing slower.
