Amirsan3- Diety Newb Attempt- Join!!!!

Great! Hopefully, the kids will behave tonight while the wife is at Volleyball and I can get some turns in then. (30mins means you will definitely post within 2.5 hours from now so I can grab it before going home. Right?:p)

Haha, yeah something like that :P

I'm playing them now, because I can actually get the turns in now :p

I must say, my solo game is very interesting though.

I have a new plan so don't declare against the Zulu if you can help it.

The new plan is to get a leader from Babylon war. Save him for the UN.

Babylon will soon be small enough to be third in the world and ineligible for the vote. If all goes well, Korea will be our one and only opponent. China should obstain since both Korea and us thumped them. Same for babylon. Same for Japan, I think. (Koreans were brought in by Zulu or Babylons right? Ottomans would side with Korea unless they are at war with them at the time of the vote. Neither of us have done anything to the zulus. So, if we build the UN, we're eligible. Then MPP with Zulu, declare on Korea just before the vote, they trigger MPP and Zulu's don't like them anymore. MA with Ottomans so they won't vote, MA with Japan so they won't vote, MA with China so they won't vote and it would be us in a 2 to 1 vote, assuming we butter up Zulu's enough to vote for us. (Please get a leader and save him.) Then the only trick is to stay close enough in tech to buy/steal Fission when the time comes.

Preturn: Obviously, the Ottomans are out to grab that settler spot and I don't really want to risk it if they're not, so I blockade the southern coast until our settler can get there. The one in the north will never reach in time but I'm more worried about what's in that galley. I change Delhi from settler to calvary, I'll rush the one in Calcutta instead. Taking two pop away from our capital is rather painful, even though it could get it back, we're in an all-you-can-get-production situation. I'll wait a turn or two before I rush the settler because the northern pair shouldn't reach and the boat, if it does have a settler, won't get to land. Our great and turn-around city of Beijjing is due to flip any turn. I'll starve them as long as I can so the Chinese will get little use for the city when it flips back. I'm also going to send a single calvary up there to prepare to reclaim the cities.

(1) 910 - There isn't a lot to change buildings to, so I start pre-builds with barracks for whatevere I may deem necissary fter this war is over. Bombard a cav to 0 hp and then attack with a calvary hoping for a leader - no luck. The rifelman and settler pair are heading for the peninsula, hopefully something kills them, but I highly doubt it. I don't think this is a high priority as it will take a courthouse to get back anyways and... we do plan to war the Ottomans so it will be a fairly easy city to grab. Koreans are marching an army it, this should get interesting.

(IT) Heh, Japan and Korea signed an alliance vs. Babylon, maybe this war with the Babs will go on for a lot longer than expected.

(2) 920 - Oooh, nice, lots more cavs poor in, this should increase my chance at snagging a leader. I kill three, lose one and leave one to move further in. I'd much rather give my elite rifelman a chance at a great leader too, not very likely, but hey. I notice we have a stack of workers building a railroad out to the sea :p. I reposition them to try and complete the shortest route to another linked city. I really want to get electricity before this war is over.

(3) 930 - Riflemen come in this time with one calvary, more to butcher. I'm debating launching an attack on Japur, but I want to have as few casualities as possible. I'm going to let the Koreans take out those rifles, I don't like 50-50 odds :p. With all these factories coming in (I left them on their build because factories = good) we're going to have MM again.

(4) 940 - Bab rifles in the mountains, time to see some suicide and I think we're going to grab the peninsula or so next few turns, plenty of offensive units and then I'll jam the gap with defense, hopefully grabbing some of the mountain to help.

(IT) Our MA with the Zulus end and they wish to end it. I would like to keep the Babs in two halves, but we can not afford it especially if the Koreans get peace. Koreans also want a MPP, I'm somewhat thinking about it, perhaps after the war... It may not be a bad idea to try and pull this out with a diplomatic victory. If that were to be the case, we'd only have to infrastructure for cash and forget about unis completely and just remove the Chinese and/or the Ottomans (we may get them to like us).

(5) I pity the Zulus, it looks like they're losing cities fast and our MA with them just end because of them and they're still at war. We have a nice army to take the peninsula now, the railnet is almost complete. If we're to do any damage now, it's going to be these next few turns and hope the Koreans stay at war (which I think they are planning to).

I've got a movie to catch, I can finish this later, or you can if you want, but I strongly suggest keep putting out cavs and to give all we got at getting a leader and electricity - this is if we still wish to try the conquest win. If not, we should start infrastructure with the cores first and if we get a leader, use it for the FP, hoovers is for production, we need money to win the diplomatic way.

If we see little resistance in the Bab cities, then I'm all for it, but right now, the only civs that would prevent us from a diplomatic victory is the Chinese and Japaneese who we can kill. I believe we can appease the Ottomans. This also means we can tech straight to the UN which will help us. Everyone dropped out of communism and into monarchy - I would think these wars are coming near to an end and which also explains the lack of troops that were fed through our line (babs changing goverments for a few turns).

I can finish later tonight, if you want or you can. Either is fine for me, but I have to get ready for a movie now (going to see Pirates of the Caribbean).

Just read your previous vote and I agree, but we need to keep this war going and it wouldn't be hard for us to remove the Chinese and Japan - amphibous warfare, yes, but still doable.

We're also in a position where we can do either, but conquest will be tougher of the two.

Edit: The upload folder is down, I can email it to you if you want it tonight. I also brought the Koreans into the war once I realiazed how strong there offense was. The only civ we would really have to butter up would be the Ottomans if we were to remove the Chinese. We didn't bother with the Japan, no one likes the Babs, and the Koreans are the strongest civ in the game, imo. There tech lead is soon going to pay off.

My kids are 3 (this Saturday) 1.5 and 1.5 (twins). Therefore their needs are unpredictable. Post when (if) you can upload. If I can, I'll post a GOT IT. If not, or your can't post it, go ahead and continue. I don't mind waiting as long as you don't mind waiting for me.;)

Lets persue the Diplomatic route. There are too many risks in conquest.

Please use the Mobilization to build enough rifles to protect ourselves. If we're getting the Mobilization benefit towards barrack prebuilds then thats fine using it to boost other infrastructure. Just don't settle for peace until we have enough units to defend against Korea.

One more thing:
If we're at peace with Babylon and Korea is at war, they may pay us a lot to get back in. Since our rep is shot, get an MA with Korea against China and then see if we can get a tech for an MA against Babylon. Actually, wait until our peace with China is over to avoid continuing the old war weariness.

(6) 960 - Position troops into retaking the peninsula. 20 some odd calvary with one or two more pouring in each turn. I want to continue the blitz on them and then add the defense in for it. I check the trade, nothing new but we can sign everyone up for a MPP except the Babs, this would ensure a diplomatic victory if we're still at war.

(7) 970 - Japur is ours with a loss of two calvary, no promotes. The Babs have acquired electricity, I'm debating starting a pre-build for ToE and still using a leader for hoovers. With proper infrastructure, the UN wouldn't take long, however we want a vote as soon as we can get it.

(IT) The Babs and Koreans sign for peace. With our load of calvary there, I'm going to grab peace AFTER I take a city or two more, with the rails hooked up, this should be possible.

(8) 980 - Zamura falls, we lose one calvary but it takes a lot of them to take it. Umna falls, we lose one calvary and are completely out of attacks this turn. We can get peace straight up and have the cities we lost regained (sort of ), I'm going to leave it off here and let you decide what you want to do. We have loads of calvary and can produce enough to take the peninsula back which would be a key spot to have vs. the Babylons or we can settle for peace, work our way for infrastructure and start our defense back up.

In my opinion, I think we could grab the peninsula, perhaps ugly and not worth it, but they are key locations for defense purposes. Going to check the upload folder again, if not I'll have to try again later.

It seems this game seems to swing back and forth, and if we win this one, it will definately be my hardest win on deity. My solo games seem to be pretty peachy - speaking of which, I'll let you know when that one is over.

Edit: Upload folder was down when I left but now that I'm back, it's up. Play as many turns as you like, it's rather complicated but here's the save, I can finish the two turns, but I'd like to know if you want to keep warring or not.

The Save

I definitely think we should keep warring. Take the Pennisula and establish a perimeter in the mountains. If it's possible to move the Babylon capital farther from us then raze babylon too. But I wouldn't waste a lot of units on trying that.

How are we doing in terms of defense of the north?

Japan is down to one city right? I wonder if we gift Beijing to them and get them to declare against Babylon if we can improve their attitude and also be able to eliminate them should the need arise.

IF you can get your two turns (or even a couple more if you like) done today before I leave work (3:30PM EST, about 8 hours from this post) go ahead and play. Otherwise, I'll play from the save you uploaded, starting tonight but taking a few days.;)

I usually have to play at night :p

I have a lot going in the mid-mornings, so take all the time you need.

To be honest, if the Zulus stay at war, we could dig deep into the heart of Babylon simply because of the railnet. However, this means to try for conquest and the best time to do that willb e during tanks.

We also can't get any techs since we're at war and trade gtp - but perhaps we can get some, eventually, for peace.

OK, got it.

Question: Why does taking half of Babylon mean we must go for Conquest? Korea will still be our opponent and Babylon won't vote for either of us. As long as I get into bed with Shaka and stay there, they should vote for us. All others should abstain.

It all depends on which route we take.

We could leave them and... well, they could declare on us again - which they would probably do.

Then again, I'm an evil bastard - they attacked me and took my core, so I could return the favor and raze their capital. That's an even trade if you ask me.

Whoa! You guys went far sinse my computer broke down last friday or so... I totally agree with the UN. Conquest is out of our handsand so does scientific. We should keep quiet with everyone untill we are in the Modern Age, no ore trouble. Can you guys pull out a pic??? Stay with the least amount of peeps in war, too much puts a bad name for a Diplo Win. I'll still be posting but cant play YET.

Amirsan@ Hurry up and get a computer!

I haven't played and I'm not sure when I will play. Definitely not until Tuesday at least. If you have some time Belial, go ahead and play more.

Here's some screen shots from the end of Belials last turn.

Japan and Zulu's are both polite already, as are Koreans and Ottomans. Let's continue the Babylonian war as long as possible. It may be prudent to get peace with them and then back stab them and get an MA against them with Korea. If we declare against China before doing that, we can get tech for MA from Korea I'm pretty sure.

I recommend razing the two babylonian cities on the pennisula and rushing some settlers to reclaim the land. It's to hard to passify the resistors with our low culture and Babylonian high culture. That means we can't rush important things like barracks. Plus these two cities are attached to Babylon's rail net and will get pounded by units from their core almost as soon as they are built. Without riflemen for defense, we are likely to loose a lot of cavs. Pull our forces back to the wines city. Disband the other two. Finish the railnet and attack the other two cities from the mountain range, keeping them long enough to cover the cavs with rifles using the captured railroad. Then raze those too. (We would't be getting any workers from razing these cities because everyone is resisting.)

The pennisula will never be ours because the Ottomans have founded a city there. The Korean city could be razed but not until we're ready to get the vote anyway.

Post a got it if you're going to play, otherwise, I'll try to get a few turns in here and there and post when I do.

Agreed. We definitely have a fair shot at stealing a victory either by diplo or domination. If by domination, we're going to have to deal with Korea sooner rather than later. If by diplo, we play nice except for Babylon and then when fission comes out, get everyone very angry at Korea. Let's hope they don't launch by the time we get to fission.;)
