Analysis of Romney's defeat

The government and the people who elect them are ultimately responsible for interpreting the constitution though... so yes, the government can certainly enforce gun laws, even gun laws that don't do a bit of good. All I can say is good luck telling the policeman that you don't need a gun permit because the 2nd amendment gives you permission to own whatever gun you want.

The only thing that last statement means is that the cops have a state-sanctioned monopoly on force that is really hard to break and doubly hard to break without killing someone. It doesn't make the gun control laws legal.

Indeed, I have no real moral objection to black market gun purchases, and I don't even consider such purchases to really be against the law. That you will get arrested for it by force is irrelevant, the constitution says "Shall not be infringed." The reason not to is really only that they will forcibly lock you in a cage.

The first sentence is 100% wrong, there is no need whatsoever to interpret the constitution, its self-explanatory. The courts screw it up on purpose because its more convenient for the government.

@GhostWriter16: If the Constitution were self-explanatory I don't think the founding fathers would have had so many arguments over whether things like national banks were constitutional. Believe it or not, there are people who see things differently from the way you see them. There is never unanimous agreement among people over what a piece of text means, whether that text comes from a constitution, a holy book or a work of fiction because words are not defined with the necessary amount of precision.

Why does every thread become about dommy's personal politics? What is wrong with you people?

Show some goddamned restraint >: |

I thought it was just a collective effort to mold the future outlook of a kid raised in a deeply conservative environment?

Wait this thread isn't about Dommy?

*goes to check OP*

Phrases like "ponzi scheme", "it's evil" and "murder!" don't really help either.

I thought it was just a collective effort to mold the future outlook of a kid raised in a deeply conservative environment?

I tried that, I really did. I wasn't even trying to actually put a dent in his conservatism/libertarianism. I just wanted to show him that some of the things he posts are insane and frankly troll bait and he drags conversation down.

But I found he'd rather repeat everything he heard on Fox News/AM Talk Radio/random Ron Paul websites than actually think about what he's read or heard before he repeats it.

So basically, all of you have let the terrorists win.
