Analysis of Romney's defeat

When I look at the intellectual bankruptcy of the political right, I really wonder where phrases like this come from.

The "great" universities of the political right worship the farcical teachings of Ayn Rand or deny science in favor of Biblical teachings. The intellectual capacity of the right has been dedicated to "stopping Obama at all costs" for the past 4 years as the top political priority. Their idea of a budget doesn't even include things like specific numbers. Their idea of a balanced budget is taking a huge deficit and piling tax cuts on top of it. Their idea of justice is forcing an underaged rape victim to bear her father's seed, even if it kills her.

If you are still conservative after the past 12 years, you do not have a brain.

The political right motivated by Ayn Rand? If only:crazyeye:

I think the GOP gets more from Hitler than they do anyone even remotely concerned about freedom.
That's because however annoying you can be you're also a good sport. Which annoys me even more.

Why is it annoying?

It's the logical conclusion to the movement to ban abortion and post-coital contraception, considering it can take up to 72 hours for fertilization to take place after sex. Making the pill illegal only makes sense if you think sperm and egg are people. Which is really [expletive] stupid and I can't believe this country nearly elected people who are for such laws. Then again, we also have a country full of people who pay money for horoscopes, think fortune cookies are Chinese, routinely elect politicians who think the Bible is a scientific textbook, and think the Flintstones was a historical documentary, so what can I really expect.

Who ever suggesting banning any form of non-abortive contraception? Not that Romney seriously wanted to ban abortion either, but he did at least say that.

I think you tried to post a picture but it doesnt load for me and the link takes me to funnyjunk, not a particular image.

Why is it annoying?
It only allows me to get annoyed with your statements, not with you as a person. Which causes duplicity, which is always annoying.

By the way, I see by reference to your sig that you have replaced rational thought by parroting from a website, so despite my earlier claims I grant you you may be more libertarian than I previously gave you credit for ;)

Meh, if we met in real life we might well get along. Even if we talked about politics. I'm less of a jerk in real life.

They're just sig links.

I don't agree with the hardcore libertarians on LRC on every issue. For instance, I don't want to privatize roads, and while I do want to privatize schools, I do think the government should pay for poorer students to be able to go to school.

There are several things I disagree with them on.

That stated, I didn't link those:)

OMG, that's so clever! Never seen that before!
EDIT-IN-RESPONSE-TO-YOUR-EDIT: You are still super-duper-clever. Where can I worship at your shrine? No one has ever posted the pictures you posted, anywhere on the internet - you are SOOOO ORIGINAL!

Oh, sarcasm! That's original!

I'm sure there's more than a few members here who'd disagree with that.

You're not acting jerkishly at all.

In my head, having a debate has to be along certain lines, otherwise it becomes unfair. I hate the transparent tricks to avoid having to deal with a point. In my mind that's similar to cheating. Now, there is no rule here that states we have to discus things by Ziggy's rules, but there also isn't a rule that I cannot get irritated when in my mind people cheat during a debate. The most obvious one is:

"So you think <ridiculous statement> <cop-out question mark>"

(Not saying you do this particular one, just an example of a transparent trick that fools no one, but still is used here once every post and is clearly cheating)

So you think that because Obama was elected rather than Romney, the US Presidency will devolve into a long line of inbred kings?
