AND2 and SVN Bug Reports - A New Dawn 2 ONLY

@c0dy: The samouraï unit is causing glitch. It is a known bug. We should really look for another model or fix this one.

If I remember correctly, it's the Japanese Longbowman that is the problem unit. If c0dy could post a save game from right when that screenshot was taken, we could try removing units in WorldBuilder or swap unit art definitions and pin the problem to a particular unit.

@ Vokarya, Japanese Longbows shot out red circles.

SVN 984 Barbarian unit spawning.

error or bug exists with the spawning of Barbarians onto the ships for landing to attack cities.

they Correctly spawn 1 unit of the highest order to attack, eg a Heavy Swordsman, but then spawn the weakest unit for defence, a Slinger, when they have Arquebusiers available.

Solution - change the defensive spawn to reflect the highest strength unit available.

Looking at C2C changelog, rev6188 fix this by using another model. You were right, it's the Japanese longbowman.

Siam & England have the same national territory color (red numbers & white background color). Could you guys modify to distinguish them?

Thank you for the report, it's added to the task list.

Is it the same model as RI's Yumi Samurai? I'm not touching C2C any more. I can swap in the RI Yumi Samurai and try it. I don't think I ever had any problems with the current longbowman, but the problem might only turn up at certain graphics settings.

Well, I don't know! I had once this problem with a Japanese unit, but I can't tell anything more.

Hi
Sorry, this is a bit off topic, but did not understand where else to ask (tried main download info, but no one answering there).
1) What do I need to change to allow use of abandon city mod without goiing into cheat mode?
2) How do I enable this cheat mode, if that is what I have to do?

Chipotle, with an 'L'. :)

Chipote in the Civ 4 ini file, towards the end of the file,

Cheat code = chipote

Thanks.

And..
Why does the AI start with a lot of production already done? Is that how it is supposed to be? Seems like an unfair advantage to me.

The AI seems to be bad at predicting revolutions in my games. By 2500 BC most of my closest neighbours had 7 cities, and a few turns later, revolutions in all of them. Is this by design?

Thanks.

The AI gets poduction discounts on levels above Noble. This is because even at its best, the AI is still a program and cannot provide a human with decent competition unless something like that is done. This plays into the bad at predicting revolutions.

Tried on Cheiftan, though, and it was still there. Half complete Javelineer for Germany before first turn.

As to the Samurai bug - definitely the longbow. This used to plague me constantly in pre-AND2.

As to my crash report & being related to mega civ pack - bummer. I'll have to try deactivating that unless there is a fix?

New bug report (I think): Arquebusier currently upgrade to Dragoon?! That's the first time I've ever seen a foot unit upgrade to a mounted unit. Seems very wrong.

I've seen the dreaded red blip bug for Dutch/Chinese Heavy Swordsmen. Weirdly, it appears only when the unit is fortified.

It's completely intended. Dragoon is part of the line of "mobile defense" units that can move 2 and still get defensive bonuses, but are weaker than other units available at the same time. They can either defend a field stack of other speedy units or be rushed to defend a new founded or captured city, because they can be there while you get proper defense units in place (mobile defense units can't get City Garrison promotions). Gunpowder units can upgrade either along the main line (Arquebusier-Musketman-Rifleman-Infantry-Modern Infantry-Special Infantry) or move onto the mobile line (Dragoon-Mounted Rifleman-Motorized Infantry-Mechanized Infantry-ACV).

Have you guys noticed that if the AI has horses they upgrade all their Arquebusiers to Dragoons. I've never seen them upgrade to muskets. So they always have a crap ton of dragoons.

Yeah - it depends on what tech you get first. I guess if Dragoons could be upgraded to Muskets then it would be a better system... but frankly, I'd prefer that the mounted units all remain separate from foot soldiers. It's confusing as a player, and irritating on some level to see "ooh, upgradable!" followed by "no, not unless I want to exchange good defenders with mobile-but-not-great-dender units."
