It sounds from Antichus VII's post that Attila is almost like the Firaxis Civ III Mongol leaderhead with a greying beard.

Looks like it's the Huns then!!

So is this our final list?

02. Armenia
03. Athens
04. Axum
05. Brigantia
06. Bulgars
07. Carthage
08. Corinth
09. Coritani
10. Dacia
11. Egypt
12. Eire
13. Etrusca
14. Gauls
15. Goths
16. Huns
17. Iberii
18. Iceni
19. Illyria
20. Kushan
21. Macedonia
22. Marcomanni

27. Picts
28. Rome
29. Scythia
30. Sparta
31. Thrace

Here's the next topic for disussion: eras. You see, I had a thought!! Perhaps this mod could be over three rather than four eras; the first era could then be utilised as follows: I could make certain civs unplayable by human players and give them techs that would be found in the first era only. I'd only need to ensure that it was nigh on impossible for them to discover all the advances by making them highly costly (and potentially not allowing them any scientific boosts, giving them governments where they couldn't hike up the science rate). In addition, these civs would naturally be able to have their own city style. I thought that the Huns were a possibility for this, maybe the Persians too. Of course, you might wish to play as these civs...any thoughts?

You could do that, but I don't think it's a good idea. This is partly because much of the interest of AD is that it's a full four-era mod packed with techs and whatnot. But it's mainly because everyone is going to want to play as the Huns and the Persians. Again, much of the interest of AD is the fact that you can play as all these interesting "other" civs. If you make some civs unplayable, you'll just limit the appeal, in my view.

Fair enough; it was just a thought. I was also thinking about the Egyptians as a non-player civ (using unique city graphics for them), making them quite mighty at first, but declining in power as time went on. However, I'm also happy doing this as a full four-era mod like before, just testing the water with different ideas. What do other people think?

Also, if I did this as a full four-era mod, would you want techs that belong before and after the timeframe of 500BC-500AD, or are they purely to be within those years?

Can anyone point me in the right direction as how each civ can have its own city style, trough that first era meddling (or is it making them unplayable that does the trick?). I know it was discussed somewhere, but obviously I should`ve bookmarked it

Um, within the time era?

Which ones of those are axe people? :)

Wo, you have quiite an established portfilio to be able to dig iin a come up with a request like that. He meets my standards much better then mongliod look, but I saw a cool picture of Atilla on the Wikapedia. He's sitting on his thrown having people recall his stories of carnage while others on both sides look on in awe. He looks mean and tuff but not like a mongloid, which I expected after RFRE.

ooh ooh, I'm glad the Huns won, because I was gonna 'vote' for them anyway. (And that miniseries looks cool! Was it really quite good? Maybe I'll rent it once I'm done watching the Rome miniseries.)

All other civs would begin in the second era, while the crippled civ is in the first, so uses first era city-graphics, which can be designed unique because no one else needs them.
Thats all :)

Each era has a different city style; as, for example, the Mediterranean civs, would be using eras 2, 3 & 4, it means that the Huns could be put in as a "Mediterranean" civ, but stuck in era one - the Mediterranean era one cities being Hun style.

describtion of Attila from Priscus in 448
"short of stature, with a broad chest and a large head; his eyes were small, his beard thin and sprinkled with gray; and he had a flat nose and a swarthy complexion, showing the evidences of his origin."

sounds Mongolian, or Mongoloid.

Well not all Mongloids fit that discption.:undecide: Im sure there related otherwise Fireaxis woudn't have used one to portray them=, anyway thanks a bunch for taking my suggestion R8XFT. You assured my choice of first Civ I'll be trying!

I'm so happy people took my civ! (proposal) :D:D:D
As for Attila look he should be Turkish->European stile cause hes born in Europe (Russia) European face! but black hare! if you all fallow me! cause black hare is from Asia but if he had an Mongolian Head than he would not be HUN! now would he!? I said that Huns should be in this mod cause I figured same region as Slavs! :p so they should be similar! what do you all think!?

Turkish isnt a race, its a culture and language group. There are Turks in Mongolia who are Mongolian, and Turks in Turkey who are European with blonde hair and blue eyes. Even though he was born in Europe, from my book about him more than 25% of the skulls of Atillas time were obviously Mongolians, the rest were mix, or pure European, probably slaves or Slavs who joined the Huns. I think he should look Mongolian (East Asian) or half Mongolan, but with a thin (Asian) beard, and thin eyes, and a flat nose like the description of him from a person who seen him.

EDIT: changed words from MY to OUR SUGGESTION- before it sounded like including some Huns was my brilliant idea! like it really matters, The Huns are In!!!!!!!!

In terms of development, this mod could go down different routes. Let's establish which route it's going down and how you'd like this mod to develop. Here are your options: please indicate which of these sound most like your viewpoint (I'm expecting most people to select more than one option):

01. I'd like a mod just like the original Anno Domini; the civs should start off needing to research how to irrigate and build mines and end up in the Middle Ages. It'd be cool to play it with the civs you've suggested and with Ares' terrain instead of that old Anno Domini terrain.

02. I'd prefer to stick to the original Anno Domini format with these civs and Ares' terrain - however, I'd prefer the techs to be based in the 500BC - 500AD bracket to match the civs.

03. I think that each civ should have as many civ-specific techs as possible.

04. I want all civs to research exactly the same techs.

05. Perhaps it would be best if most techs were generic, though maybe you should have two or three each era that are civ-specific or trait-specific at least.

06. I'd like to see some of the minor civs used as non-player civs with their own city styles; you'd still should be leaving around 26 player-controlled civs.

07. I'd like it to be the opposite way round to option 06 - make large civs like Rome and Egypt non-playable having their own city styles - the player will be taking a minor tribe and pitting it against the big guns. These large civs need to have advantages to suit the civs that would make them a little unbalanced to have them available to human players.

08. I really think that all civs should be available, each having it's own inherent strengths and weaknesses.

09. Having a full four-era mod is important to me.

10. I'd be happy enough if you squeezed all the techs into three eras, leaving one era for you to use, for example, to make non-player civs with their own unique techs and city style.

11. I plan to try out lots of different civs when the mod comes out.

12. I might try a couple of different civs, but I have my favourite civ which I will nearly always play as (please state civ if this is the case).

13. I liked the idea in the original Anno Domini mod of having a random map.

14. Anno Domini 2 MUST be played on the "Rise of Rome" map (or another map which you should name).

15. I don't care what you do as long as I can bring my axe.

5 8 11 13

5 TAM has only one civ-specific tech/wonder. It gives a taste, but a little more would be nice. Maybe 1 tribal, 1 culture group/flavor, and one trait specific option per era would be possible?

option seven is intriguing; I'd never play Rome anyway, but a juicy Egyptian Campaign would be fun; ultimately I agree with Plotinus and vote for 08.

10; three eras is fine, enough scope for development given the timeline (feel free to be flexible on what techs are included).

11; I like variety, I will probably come back frequently to the Kushans. Huns, Parthians, etc. will also be fun.

13 Learning TAM I played on the set map; I continue to play it now on random maps, so I don't know who or what I'll encounter when .
