Once again I plead for your assistance with drafting a catchy, fun, and inviting forum announcement. If you don't contribute, I'll do my best. We could aim for a main page and top-of-forum announcement by as early as sometime tomorrow, or even later today if the material is ready.

It would also be much better to have the user-oriented introduction ready in the main forum. I'm willing to delay announcing we're starting the game until that is written. Fail to provide this and you'll get my somewhat dry and technical writing style , which I'm assuming won't be as appealing to RPG enthusiasts.

Everyone of course is welcome, but hoping for input and opinions on the launch from Strider, Ravensfire, Provolution, & croxis, just to name a few. :)

just an idea, but maybe we could travel to other forums, (appolyton, gamefaqs, gamespot) and advertise there. This would be sure to grab a few people into the game.

I think we should brainstorm now, set up the gamerules properly, and begin advertise sunday, in order to get some basic gameworld indicators straight etc.

I vote on doing a short, witty, and entertaining story. I'll see if I can figure out something.

Look at my most on the Intro thread draft

He means another main page announcement.

I am heavily leaning towards doing a narrative. How about everyone else?

We are a fractured people. In old times we were members of a united tribe; a group of family and protectors. We, however, disagreed with the traditional methods. We were declared radicals and casted out of our tribe. Our disagreements did not end there. It appears that disunity is the norm within our people. Ironic, that even outcasts have their outcasts. Still we will survive. Not only will we survive, but we will prevail. Those that casted us out, the stubborn fools, will be made to pay. We have heard whispers that they have created a civilization of their own nearby. They will regret not hiding.

Watch out our brothers; for you are looking at the dawn of a new civilization. A civilization that will not meet your horrid standards of peace and unity. For we are outcasts; and know neither peace nor unity.

The world has been warned.

The third Civilization IV democracy game is about to start! This game features an overhauled ruleset that focuses on factions. These factions are separate entities that compete for the control of the government.

Suggestions/Changes?

traditional ways instead of methods maybe. Disunity in one word. Ironic, comma, that outcasts.... Prevail instead of prosper (sounds more powerful).

Try to add something about the powerful and unique factions vying for power and seeking to cooperate for mutual survival.

I left the first part the same, and expanded the second part. It will be easier to work with and look closer to the final appearance if we don't put the quote tags.

The third Civilization IV democracy game is about to start! This game, based on BTS (you don't need to have the game itself), features an overhauled ruleset that focuses on factions instead of individual players. Factions are groups of players which operate as separate entities that compete for the control of the government. The prime faction's platform defines the form of government, in-game civics, and game play, while the out-of-power factions plot their next attempt at rebellion. The result will be a democracy game like no other, with rich opportunity for role play, intrigue, and constant revision as the game progresses through the ages.

The element we still need is you. Come on over and have some fun with us, and together we'll build a civilization that stands the test of time.

That sounds good to me Dave :).

I'm thinking about saying something like while the game is based on BTS, it isn't necessary to join in the fun. I'll leave it till morning. After that, this game is launched. :D

Wow DS, if i wasn't already involved, that post would certainly drag me into the game. Good Job! :)

Agreed. Other than that, looks really good! :goodjob:

A short story...some fictitious announcement or event that hilights what's cool about participating in a demogame...

Like, for example, off the cuff:

TankmosX, recently elected the leader of the Realpolitic faction stared pensively out of his thrown room in Rome. That blasted hot head, Catherine, the czarina of Russia was fomenting her people with nationalistic slogans and propaganda portraying the Romans as a week race, who, supported by their luxuries had become a soft and decadent people. Nothing like the strong Russians, who had been forced to hold off the Germans on their own; forced to carve a civilization out of the unforgiving forests and the cold breast of winter's embrace....or so some of the propaganda had been running lately.

TankmosX turned back to his advisors, selected from his faction for their experience in their areas, and for the advice they had offered in the past. They all knew of the growing situation with Russia. 5 more years were left in their term...would the war start before the end? Before the next election? What other faction could possibly preserve the nation as well as Realpolitic? Who could he trust to present the case for re-election to the rest of the citizens of Rome at Civfanatics? 5 turns left...war brewing possibly...they would need to pause their control of the Roman civilization and present the situation to the rest of the citizenry...Deals must be made...a faction must maintain its power...and Rome must not be allowed to fall to the coming storm...

Do you have what it takes to lead a faction to control a civilization and lead your people to victory? Join us for a demogame unlike any other (insert link)...

Something like the above...almost like a movie trailer. I admit the above probably needs some polishing, and this will be my first demo game...

Lol, well got my creative juices flowing nonetheless.
