Antifa rocks!

Yup, somebody mentioned that before the disagreement. The disagreement was its own vibe, unrelated to whatever/whoever despite location in thread.

Weren't there like... 2 or 3 pages of whining about misgendering this person by referring to them as male (despite lmaus also doing that in the first post on the subject), and now there's a manifesto containing the phrase "I'm a man". So what was all that about?

Are you alright? I'm worried about you.

Can someone do a welfare check?

Why can't they be a man with she/her pronouns?

It just became a general thread on dead-naming, and I myself just decided to settle on the Singular They for, well, them. There's also suspicions on if the Manifesto truly is genuine or not, but ALSO, we've moved on as it's yesterday's news.

They went on and attacked a vehicle depot, failed, and got shot. Whether or not they were suicidal or not, whether or not they wanted to really do anything, doesn't matter because their Anarchist Direct Action, like most of them, failed.

And personally it's going to make my lot a lot harder because Far out Rightists are going to use it as a rallying point to up the ante and confront us en masse come(this ontop of the Andy thing) Aug 17th in Portland, if not earlier and elsewhere. Yeeeeyyyy.

For those who care about ICE and the Detention Centres so much, the new thing going around are tips and pics on how to sabotage ICE, and that's on them. On a pragmatic view, little to anything they do will actually help the detainees or hurt ICE; even on a political level, the stage is set for it to become a budget-gridlock thing to hold the nation hostage over.

Haha. That never gets old. Keep doing it, it's so funny. Honestly, once you've found the one joke you're happy with there's really no need to ever stray from it. I'm glad you've found yours, it's a cute one. It's even better when you unironically follow it up with "I've been polite to you".

Why can't they be a man with she/her pronouns?

Well obviously they can be, it just appears that they aren't/weren't. Which makes it odd that there was such a kerfuffle over what appears to be a completely invented issue.

Moderator Action: As I said, if you want to discuss transgender issues and gender politics, take it to a new thread. If you are finished discussing Antifa, I will proceed to close the thread. Just let me know.

Antifa is needed more than ever, what with an open fascist as president and the resulting growth in their numbers as well as their increased confidence.

Back to the liturgy, are we?

Yeah, you can call Cloud alarmist or over-reacting or whatever.

But just how certain are you that Trump is the end of something, not the beginning? Something that one day we'll perhaps call Trumpism.

Its been such a stupid few years that I'm no longer confident I can put smart money against him.

Isn't Trumpism already a thing?

Or does it currently just mean "to post something nonsensical on Twitter" or something.

I didn't call Cloud anything, w/e.

I just know a liturgy when I see one, 67 pages in and we're rebooting not with a specific but the first part of a call and response. Can I get an Amen(or pick a fight, picking a fight is call and response too :))!

So let's cover the sentiment. We're back to young people instigating semi random violence on the street are a goodness because harms are happening. I'm somewhat bored by this, and am more interested with what people are doing with their hands for the recipients of harms. Hence, the reference to a repetitive exercise that I, myself, participate in different form*. Didn't seem particularly harsh.

*and just to specify that I disagree with more people than yourself or Cloud, Manfred can take his shifting Anglican-remnant of judgemental unease with somebody that admits to praying openly in service.. somewhere... and do.... stuff with it.

Beyond voting, engaging with the community and doing political work for progressive candidates what else can people do?

If your criticism of Antifa is "semi random violence" then what is the solution? Ask them to stop? The police aren't interested in checking up on fascists, mainly because they share such a large overlap and neither are the government for reasons that are becoming quite clear.

That's why I said Antifa is necessary because our institutions are either blind to or complicit with the threat vulnerable groups are facing from an emboldened far right.

I'm more interested in what people can do with their hands that helps people who are recipients of the harms you are most concerned about. I, personally, am bored with the billy club and don't much like it. I doubt Antifa's fine individuals are particularly interested in being convinced to stop any more than other fine individuals are. Other things need to change to take their attention, like conditions, employment, relationships, age, or whatever. It goes on. You mention voting. You're the one with the grievance, I'm the one that mostly wants violent and semi-violent dorks(remember the ones that I grew up around and associate with this sort of behavior) billy clubbed until they find something else to do, or at least go cause trouble(hopefully productively) somewhere people aren't going to get hurt, like a closed facility that will still get attention or something. What do you mean by "engaging with the community?" You know more than I do, and come from a different physical location than I do, I could learn something, likely.

Helping people, charities, voluntary work at places like food banks or soup kitchens, obviously it's dependent on where you live though.

The problem is that these won't stop fascism, it might help prevent others from going towards it but we already have a generation of young males radicalised by the right wing, especially online and it's only going to get worse.

Young males are always discontent and semi-violent. Muscles and balls fully develop before brains and that isn't a personal failing, it's just the biology. Too much time online causes depression and neuroticism. Too few close interpersonal relationships, particularly with members of the sexually desired persuasion, too. Would social initiatives that get them out in the community and feeling their power through engagement be realistic? Fund the arts? Something else?

They might do more to stop discontented people supporting fascism than Antifa do
The street battles between Nazis and Communists did nothing to stop Hitler, indeed they helped convince many conservatives that there was a Communist threat
Defending communities from Fascists is fine but reacting to provocation such as by attacking a march or rally means that Antifa can be depicted as the problem

This looks like an actual instance of misandry to me.

Seems less demeaning than "compliance tool."

Sure, it's an assessment of the effect of testosterone on judgement and temperament and energy. Young women's brains take that long to fully develop too, but there are measurable differences in the distribution of tendencies(you did read it as a rough generalization rather than a universal, yes?). If you're going to legit call that misadry, as if I think less of possessors of testosterone because of it, I think you're projecting secondary opinions that I do not share.
