Kodak has apparently invented a machine that allows you to print out live kittens.

TV Tropes seems to think I would appreciate their homepage in Polish or even ROT13. Thankfully, everything else seems to be fine.
That's great!
Spoiler :
Welcome, good sirs, to TV Tropes!
Come on in, we'll show you the ropes!

What is this about?
This wiki is, without a doubt,
a catalog of the tricks of the trade
for writing fiction and giving of aid.
We dip into the cauldron of story,
whistle up a hearty spoonful without worry
and splosh it down right in front
for you to eat and wash down with a grunt.

Tropes are conventions and devices
that a writer can rely on without rising prices
as they are present in the audience's expectations.
On the whole, tropes are not clichéd complications.
The word clichéd means "stereotyped and trite".
In other words, dull, the audience's blight.
We are not looking for entries that bore.
We are here to recognize tropes and much more
play with them, too, not to make fun
of everything interesting under the sun.

The wiki is called "TV Tropes"
because that is where we started, before outreaching scopes.
Over the course of a few years, this encyclopedia
has crept out to include all types of other media.
Tropes transcend television.
They exist in real life, as we will be quick to envision.
Since art does its best to life reflect,
tropes are likely to show up everywhere with respect.

We are not a stuffy encyclopedic wiki spectacular.
We're buttloads more informal (we use the vernacular!).
There Is No Such Thing as Notability, and no citations needed.
If your entry doesn't grow by magic, consider warnings heeded.
It will just wither and die, a trope still theoretical.
But it will still be available through the index (all alphabetical).
We encourage breezy language and original thought
(and won't mind to the occasional snark, so don't get distraught).

Click in the menu on "Troperville"
on the upper left of any page if you will
to find the places where tropers can gather
and write what they want and blather and blather.

Go on, have fun. We'll give you some credit.
We'll be along soon, we just have to click "Edit."

I'd tap that.

Adblock changed all ads to pictures of cats, rather than hiding them. I actually prefer it :p

The TaleWorlds forum randomly changed avatars to pictures of cats, kitties everywhere!

I found a balloon and put over the exhaust pipe of my moms car. It got too big and popped and make a loud noise. It was very funny.

I was half-expecting it to just fly off. But it stayed.

Spoiler :
The Half-Life 3 one?

The new details about CiV Kings & Gods....Gods & Kings... the expansion

I have a friend who regularly beats me at chess (we play online) . We played a few games on April 1st and I beat him convincingly with brilliant play far beyond my capabilities. How ?

I made sure he played white . Using my flatmates computer , I entered his move as the "player" move into his(flatmates) computer chess game vs the PC ratcheted up to "genius" level .

I then played the "genius" computer move as my move against him . Rinse and repeat

Completely steamrolled him with brilliant play . So awesome .

A friend of mine did the same thing a couple of decades ago, to his brother. They were playing chess over the phone, and he used a computer program set to the highest difficulty to determine his move. He is QUITE pleased to tell the story.

One forum I go on changed to a My Little Pony theme.
Wherewherewherewherewhere
I don't know if Chukchi Husky meant it, but the forums on giantitp.com (The Order of the Stick) did that, too.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned xkcd's April Fool's strip yet. It's simply amazing. You get different strips based on your location (countries, US states, warships, university networks), the redirects you followed, your browser, your browser size and a couple of other factors. The strips would often reference your location or settings somehow.
