Hi, guys.

After enjoying reading many games here, I decided to write one of my own games.

Everyone hoping for a big conquest story or a story from a real super-player - click away. I'm just an ordinary fun player, not using any tools, not milking, just playing for fun.

I'm playing Arabia (like the title says) on Regent, C3C. I'm playing on a modified world map; modified meaning: Much more ressources than originally planted, so I don't have to play a whole game just using longbowmen and spearmen. The rules are standard (no modifications), all victories active except space race (don't like it).

4000 BC: Start. Founded Mecca. Minimap indicates, that I start in France. A good starting position, because I like coast cities.

3550 BC: First contact with Sumeria in the west. We exchange technologies (1-1) and stay on friendly terms.

3500 BC: First warrior built; it protects Mecca.

2670 BC: Medina founded; Contacted Hittites; we stay on friendly terms, but they want 2 techs for one, so I don't trade.

2630 BC: Contacted Zulus

2510 BC: Contacted Babylon

2350 BC: Contacted Byzantines

1990 BC: First Granary built in Mecca; Mecca is becoming my settler factory. A small problem is: I can only expand to the west or a little to the south. That could slow down my expansion a little.

1870 BC: First spearman built in Medina. From now on, all defense units are spearmen. I don't like warriors and I am a "Defense"-Player. Spearmen protect you from almost all ancient age attack units when supported by walls.

1575 BC: Damascus founded

1450 BC: Hittites demand 25 gold; they get it. There's no need in starting a war right now. It would only end my expansion and I'd live the rest of the game as a backwater nation.

1275 BC: Baghdad founded

1150 BC: Najran founded

1025 BC: Tech exchange with Zulus; we give one and get four plus 20 gold. That's a good deal for Polytheism...

875 BC: Kufah founded

750 BC: Basra founded

690 BC: Khurasan founded
As you see, expansion goes quite fast and quite well.

570 BC: Monarchy developed; REVOLUTION! No need for staying at Despotism for long and since Arabians are religious...

550 BC: Monarchy established

450 BC: Anjar founded

410 BC: Embassies with Hittites and Sumeria established; good relations to your neighbors are important.

350 BC: Fustat founded

310 BC: First Kurragh built; now I'm starting to look how it's going in UK, Iceland, Greenland etc.

290 BC: Aden founded

270 BC: First temple built in Medina; Temples are from now on standard building in all cities.

210 BC: Yamama founded

190 BC: First walls built in Medina; first cultural expansion in Medina; walls are also added to all cities.

170 BC: First iron connected; nice; but I don't really need it at the moment. All is peaceful.

90 BC: Muscat founded; end of expansion phase 1; meaning: no more expansion over land.

30 BC: Hittites demand tech; they get it; Big trading round: Give 3 techs, get
5; First Galley built; the Galley will usher in expansion phase 2: expansion over sea.

10 BC: Landing party enters UK

10 AD: Landing party successfully defeats English natives (= barbarians). Warrior vs. Warrior fight.

90 AD: Contacted Japan in America; seems like the nations on the american continents are far behind us "europeans" in tech.
Established embassy with Byzantines

110 AD: Kurragh lost in Northern Sea - was a little to courageous...
Scout landed in Greenland

230 AD: Mansura founded

250 AD: Bukhara founded

270 AD: Concept of Republic invented; but due to a weak infrastructure I stay at Monarchy for the moment.
Irish natives defeated

280 AD: Contacted China

300 AD: Fez founded

320 AD: Explorers in Greenland killed by Greenland natives

330 AD: Warriors landed in Greenland

360: Middle ages!
Embassies established with China, Japan, Babylon

370: REVOLUTION!

380: Shiraz founded
Warriors in Greenland defeat Greenland natives

390: Republic established; finally we are at Republic; money is flowing and tech development is speeding up.

430: Sumeria wants Incense; they get it; also established trade route (1-1-luxury treaty) to Sumeria; that way, I'll get a trade bonus and they're less likely to re-demand the Incense after 20 turns;

460: Merw in Greenland founded

520: Warriors in Greenland killed by Greenland natives; ok, happens. Warriors are outdated anyway...
Contacted Korea and Persia; Traded tech with Persia: Got two, gave one

550: Galley lost in american waters; again, a little too courageous...but I had to try to inspect south america...

560: Balkh founded; end of expansion phase 2; no more land I can travel to left...
Established embassies with Persia, Corea, Zulu

700: Forbidden Palace built in Damascus
Contacted Mongols

780: Sun Tzu's Art of War built in Medina; yeah, a great wonder...now I don't have to build barracks!!

800: Gunpowder invented; sadly, there's no source of saltpeter connected. I use 4 workers to connect one located in northern norway.

810: Contacted by Carthage; 1-1-tech trade

840: Established embassy with Carthage and Mongols

850: RoP with Japan; that way my ships can travel through their zone of influence and it improves relations to Japan.

890: First pikeman built; more an "accident" than planned: the UK-cities have iron there and are still building defense...

920: First musketman built; the defense of 2 spearmen per city is now altered to 3 musketmen per city plus one offensive unit (Longbowmen or Ansar warrior)

940: First fortress finished; it's located over my own source of saltpeter...

1050: First longbowman built; they're used as counter-attack units in cities.

1080: 1-1-tech exchange with hittites; get horses; RoP; now I can build Ansar Warriors...

1140: First Ansar Warrior built; they're built in cities where it doesn't take too much time to build them; otherwise, the city build Longbowman.

1150: First Caravel in service; upgraded one of my galleys.

1170: Contacted by Ottomans and Indians; contacted Dutch, donated Monarchy (they're so far behind in tech...a little "balance of power" is necessary here...)
Established embassies with Dutch, Ottomans and Indians

1250: Ottomans declare war on Persians; this will be an interesting war, since it will determine who will be the dominant east-asian nation

1265: The supply of horses has vanished; BUT I have secured my own in Greenland.
Big deal with sumeria; world map exchange plus tech trade; get three, give one; RoP
Babylon declared war on Ottomans

1280: Hittites declared war on Ottomans; not looking too good for the Ottomans. But let's wait and see...

1290: RoP with Japan ended; but they're still polite. Also - no problem. Don't need it anymore...

1295: Sumeria declared war on Ottomans; ouch - now it's really bad for them...

1300: Current turn.

Any comments? Anyone reading this?

@madviking:

I don't intend to stay at despotism for long, so I let 'em irrigate...(workers are automated). I always change to monarchy ASAP, and if the tiles are irrigated, the growth under monarchy gets a huge boost.

Continueing:

1330: Ottomans and Hittites sign peace treaty

1340: Zulus declare war on Ottomans
Babylon declares war on Ottomans

1345: India declares war on Ottomans
Ottomans are losing bad against Persians
The Ottoman Empire will surely fall and a powerful Persia will dominate the far east. Not sure yet what to do about that. One powerful nation is something I do not like.

1360: First Galleon in service
Seems to me, that I'm in the lead in naval technology.

1395: Trade agreement with Korea; give 2 luxus ressources, get one

1400: Indians and Ottomans sign peace treaty
Development of Metallurgy

1405: Babylon declares war on Ottomans; Ottomans reduced to 4 scattered cities;
Persia dominating east asia

14051rn.jpg

Well, now Persia is dominating east asia. I'll have to wait and see what will happen next. Often, a newly formed super-state is destroyed by an alliance. Persia still has three powerful neighbours: Carthage, Sumeria and the Hittites.

1410: Ottomans and Zulus sign peace treaty

1415: Ottomans and Sumeria sign peace treaty

1425: Contacted the Celts; established embassy
Now I've contact with all nations.

1445: Military tradition invented; Mass upgrade Ansar Warrior => Cavalry
Persia demands contact with celts; we give it; they're annoyed; seems that
they've adapted quickly to being the most powerful nation in east asia

Yeah...why upgrade your UU? Because a cavalry is soooo much better and I don't feel too comfortable fighting off enemy cavalry with Ansar Warriors... 4 vs. 3 is not so good; 6 vs. 3 is acceptable.

1465: Tech trade with Sumeria; get three and 186 gold, give two
Sumeria and Arabia enter industrial age as first nations

Yeah - tech lead!!

1470: Magellan's Voyage built in Mecca

Nothing happened, btw. Is this a bug?!

1475: First frigate built

A couple of frigates follow. Four frigates are now my "Atlantic Fleet".

1480: Korea declares war on Ottomans

First time, an "american nation" enters a war with a euro-asian nation.

1485: Last pikeman out of service
Babylon and Ottomans sign peace treaty
Persian destroy Ottomans

It's official - Persia dominates the east and the Ottomans, once a powerful nation, are no more.

1525: Nationalism developed; all really quiet

15507bc.jpg

1560: Japan and Byzantine Empire have signed MPP
The Byzantines are a minor power in Africa. Seems like they're trying to protect themselves against their neighbours by making alliances with someone far, far away...very useful *sarcasm*.

1565: Signed RoP with Mongols
No gain, but it improves relations. And good relations to the most aggressive nation on Earth are not bad.

1585: Signed RoP with Carthage

1595: Hittites declare war on Persians; Second Asian Dominance War;
RoP with Babylon

Hu...that's interesting now. If the Hittites win, they will've stretched their borders faaaaaaar into the East. Corruption should slow 'em down and the rebuilding process will take time. If the Persians win...they're my neighbours!!

1615: Persia demands 100 gold and a territory map; they get it;

Didn't want to join the war. Now, I think, that was a mistake.

1625: Zulus declare war on Persians
Babylon join war against Persia
If Sumeria joins the war against Persia, I'll do, too.
Persians have taken two border towns of Hittites

Persia is gaining, but the anti-persian-alliance is growing...

1630: Persians raze city of Hittites

1635: Donate Democracy and Military Tradition to Dutch (Nation development)
RoP with Zulu
Persians take city of Hittites

The Hittites are losing ground...

1645: China and Byzantine Empire sign MPP
Persians conquer city of Hittites; are now on the border of Iran/Irak
Thinking: interference inevitable to save Hittites
Exchange Nationalism for Free Artistry and donate 10 gpt to Hittites (war aid)

The Persians are close. If I had bombers, I could bombard their front troops by now...

1655: Donate Military Tradition to Babylon (war aid)
Tech deal with Sumeria: Get two, give one
They're unwilling to declare war on Persia, so I sign MPP with them

Maybe, if Persia attacks Sumeria, we can save the Hittites and end the persian dominance in east asia.

1660: RoP with Japan

1665: Sumeria and Byzantine Empire sign MPP
China and Korea sign MPP
Hittites free occupied city

Whoo...so, now I'm indirectly allied with the Byzantines and could be dragged in an american war...weird, so many MPP's...

1670: Hittites free occupied city
Yes!!! Perhaps this is the turning point.

1675: Korea and Celts sign MPP
Carthage joins Persia and declares war on Hittites;
BUM! Unexpected move. Now what? A great asian war, that's for sure...
On the other hand: Carthage is still in medieavel age...

1690: Carthage reaches industrial age!
Carthage captures city from Hittites

1695: Carthage captures city from Hittites
BUM! Unexpected strength. *puzzled*

1700: Carthage captures city from Hittites; one Hittite city now cut off;
Hittites in fight-for-life-situation
Replaceable parts developed
Current victory status: 1.) Sumeria: 1309, 2.) Persia: 1171, 3.) Arabia: 1074;
4.) China: 902; 5.) Japan: 856; all others well below 700;

Situation analysis:
The hittites are almost lost. The Carthage-Persia-Alliance is the strongest alliance on this planet. The "Neutral Alliance" (Sumeria/Arabia) is its counterpart. A war between those two blocks would decide the fate of Europe, Asia and Africa (and maybe the whole world, since we're still ahead in tech of America).

I'm now upgrading to Infantry and will then prepare for an Industrial Age-War. I hope that I'll have Combustion by then - naval support and only a step away from Aircrafts might decide this. On the other hand - the Persian Army should consist of many vet and elite units, maybe even some Armies by now.

Difficult...

I think he's gonna go for a diplomatic win. He's been pretty keen to stay on very good terms with every nation in the world, and would only start to consider going to war with them once his very close ally the sumerians would do it, and just about every other nation in the area was already in on the action.

There are afterall, madviking, other ways to win than besides "hulk smash!" :goodjob:

Yep, interesting situation. lately I too have been going for more peaceful wins. UN is alright, but I like Spaceship the best :D .

Hi, guys.

Sorry, no update today - there was a huge storm over my town yesterday and the lightnings convinced me not to activate my computer. I will play another couple of decades tonight.

Thanks for the comments. You guys are right with the assumption, that I go for more peaceful victories. I'm not the conquerer-player - all-war-plays and domination victories are very rare when I'm playing. I only play like that when I'm forced to. I like winning peacefully (UN or Score).

I guess that a war with Persia is inevitable. And I think that the fate of this game will be decided on the Euro-Asian-continent. Persia, Arabia, Sumeria, Carthage - one of them will win. I'm really surprised about Carthage and their military progress.

I just hope that the Sumerians won't change their allegiance to Persia. A persian-sumerian alliance (possibly supported by Carthage) would kill me. A successful defense against that kind of power would be extremely difficult without a huge tech lead.

Allright, wish me luck. Tonight is decision-day. :)

Hi, guys.

Thanks for the comments. Nice to know that some people are reading this. So, I played a hundret years yesterday, here it is:

FYI: At some point I lost track about who's at war with whom and who's taking whose city...so the info may be incomplete, but all essentials (meaning: all regarding my nation, Arabia) is included...

1700: Donated Communism to Hittites (war aid)

They were at Monarchy at the time, I still hoped that they'd recover somehow...

1705: Carthage conquered that cut-off Hittite city
I'm sending an observer (Longbowman) to the border Sumeria/Carthage to watch the frontlines;

Well, he just saw a lot of carthagian units there passing by...

1715: First infantry in service
Persia conquers Hittite city; Persia reaches mediterranian sea!

Not so good. Persia could now build ships in the mediterranian sea and has a base of operations very close to me.

1720: I'm moving Cavalries to the passages between Europe and Turkey;
That way I block any invasion forces and keep the Hittites alive;

Still hoped, that they could be useful somehow. At least, it's better to have two cities in your continent from a small civ with just these two cities than tow cities from a super power like Persia...

17204no.jpg

1725: I'm moving 2 frigates of the "Atlantic Force" to Sinai to watch the fight between the african nations and the persian/carthagian-alliance

And what I saw I didn't like...persian marching into Africa, and no defense from Babylon...none whatsoever...

1730: Carthage conquers Hittite city;
Sumeria is massing troops near the frontlines in Turkey
Lost one source of iron
Deal with Byzantines: They get wine, I a complete world map + 30 gold
Hittites propose MPP; I decline; Not yet ready for a war;
Sign a Trade Embargo with Hittites vs. Persia

Sumeria is preparing for war and so am I. Maybe Persia will lose its temper...

1735: Persia conquers Hittite city; only one left in Asia

1745: Hittites lost last asian city; only two left in Europe, protected by me
Mongols join war against Babylon

Yirk! Not so good...all with Persia...bad!

1750: Donated all techs until Nationalism to Babylon; they're the last line of defense for Africa against Persia
I'm hastening the upgrade program, using my 2500 gold...soon there won't be much left of it...
China and Byzantine Empire sign MPP

1752: Persia takes the area around the suez canal; Babylon and Africa are lost
Sign Trade Embargo vs. Persia with Byzantines; if they enter the war, a lot of MPP's will get activated and we can strike back;
Korea joins war against Hittites

So far for the "last line of defense"...if they can't stop them at a one-tile-front, how do they want to stop them in an open area like northern africa? That's the perfect terrain for fast units like Cav...

1754: Persia takes two babylonian cities
Netherlands join war against Hittites

Now all smell the blood...all against the Hittites. Perhaps it was a bad idea to protect them...

1756: Persia takes another babylonian city
Building offensive units now
Renewed MPP with Sumeria and signed a trade embargo vs. Persia
Zulus join war against Hittites
Japan joins war against Babylon

War will be there soon. If I don't enter the war, Persia will take over all of Africa and soon they will be unstopable. A superpower controlling half of Asia and all of Africa will be soon so far ahead in tech and numbers...

1758: Cancel RoP with Carthage; they marched through my territory to get to the european Hittite cities!!

Very stupid from me to keep it active. So much for the "protection" of the Hittites...

1760: Persia takes two Babylonian cities; country split up in three enclaves
Carthage joins war against Babylon

Babylon is lost. And so is Africa, if we don't do something. The Byzantines won't save Africa from Persia alone...

1762: Persia razes babylonian city
Huge amounts of persian & carthagian units are entering my territory!!
I demand them withdrawn; Persia declares war!!
Begin of the "War of Decision"
Mobilized to war time!
Own losses: Cavalry 2
Persian losses: Cavalry 7
Sumeria declares war on Persia

And so it begins...this turn, I destroyed the persian invasion force that should be used against the Hittites. Sumeria joins the war, so it's now Sumeria/Arabia vs. Persia. Unsure, how Carthage will act. Now we'll see how tough Persia really is.

1764: Own losses: Cavalry 1
Persian losses: Cavalry 5
Made an Military Alliance with Carthage against Persia (for Steam Power);
Major Shift in Power
Celts join war against Persia

Now Carthage is on our side. 3 powers vs. 1 - that should be doable...Again, a good turn, militarywise...

1766: Own losses: Cav 1
Persian losses: Cav 1
Persia takes two babylonian cities
Sumeria takes one persian city
Made an alliance with Byzantines; they join the war against Persia
Carthage takes one Hittite city in Europe
China declares war on me!
Japan declares war on me!
Mongols and Chinese sign Trade Embargo vs. me!

A lot happened...
Persia gains in Africa, but now the Byzantines are on our side. That means: Byzantines & rest of Babylon vs. Persia in Africa. Sumeria and me are trying to cut off the persian forces in Africa, so the african nations won't have to deal with any more than already in it.
The north american nations of Japan and China have declared war on me. Now we'll see, if their size matters...or my tech.

I now fight on four frontlines: On the sumerian-persian border in Asia, in the Middle East trying to cut off the persian "Africa Corps", in Africa with a small "Africa Corps" myself and in Greenland against japanese colonies.

1768: Own losses: Frig 1
Persian losses: Frig 1, Cav 1
First artillery in service
Sumeria takes persian city
Signed trade embargo vs. Hittites with Carthage (no use in protecting them anymore, only one city left)
Japan declares war on Persia
India and Korea sign MPP
India declares war on Japan
Korea declares war on Babylon (man, complicated to stay tuned to who's at war with whom)
Korea declares war on Japan

It's really unclear who's fighting whom. I just know, that I fight against Persia and Japan. China is too far away to throw anything against me. I'd like them fighting Persia, but you can't have everything, I guess....

1770: Own losses: Cav 2
Persian losses: Cav 4
Netherlands and Byzantines sign MPP

Hm...not much to tell...

1772: Own losses: Frig 3
Deal with India; give Indus & Elec, get Fascism
Netherlands declare war on Persia
Sumeria declared war on Japan

Really a bad turn. Lost all frigates in fighting persian frigates. I need destroyers, soon!! The Netherlands can't help us, they're too far behind in tech. But the sumerian aid against Japan is nice. At least, some frigates will bombard their colonies in Iceland and Greenland.

1774: Own losses: Inf 1
Persian losses: Cav 1

1776: Own losses: Cav 1
Persian losses: Cav 1
Signed RoP with Dutch
Byzantines capture several persian cities in Africa
China declares war on Babylon

Byzantines are gaining in Africa. The persian "Africa Corps" is diminishing and the Byzantines are able to deal with them. Soon I can concentrate on the asian front.
The Middle East is "persia-free". The forces there are split up into "African Corps" and "Asian Corps".

1778: Carthago loses two cities to Persia
Own losses: Cav 1
Japanese losses: 2 Frig
Persian losses: Cav 1, Rifl 1
I capture city near Suez channel
Babylon declares war on Dutch

Argl!!! Bad. Carthage is losing. If Carthage is blown away by Persia, the power might shift back to them.
How the hell can one nation hold up against three?! And we're not so small or behind in tech...Persia is really tough...

Yeah! The suez channel-city is mine. Now they won't be able to get forces to Africa anymore...

1780: Own losses: 0
Persian losses: Cav 1
Sign RoP with Byzantines
Korea and Hittites sign Peace treaty
Mongols and Japan sign Trade embargo against me!

Who cares? The Mongols are weak and far away. And Japan hasn't been too hard until now. Seems they're just good in intimidating than fighting...if I had no war against Persia...

1782: Own losses: 0
Persian losses: Frig 1, Cav 1
Sumerians take persian city
Mongols & Sumeria sign MPP
Mongols join war against Persia
Byzantines and Persian sign peace treaty
Byzantines declare war on Persia
Japanese losses: Frig 1

Weird turn, but allright. Byzantines back in the game and the Mongols have joined. Too bad, they're weak and far away... ;)

1784: Own losses: 1 Frig
Byzantines and Korea sign alliance against Babylon

There's not much "Babylon" left...who cares...

1786: Own losses: Inf 2, Cav 2 (attack on persian city failed), 1 spear
Persian losses: Cav 2
Persian advancing into carthagian territory
Persia and Sumeria have signed peace treaty (!!!)
Hittites and Korea have signed alliance vs. Babylon
Mongols & Babylon have signed peace treaty

17867av.jpg

I lost the spearman in Greenland. Those japanese tried to attack...but my infantry got their cavalry in a counter-attack.
Persia is really gaining carthagian cities in an awful speed. Sumeria and I will have to engage their forces more aggressively. Too bad, they just made peace!!! I will change that; without them - no chance...

As you can see, one persian city is about to fall very soon...

1788: Own losses: 0
Persian losses: Cav 2
Have conquered one persian city
Japanese losses: Cav 1
Babylon and Carthage signed peace treaty
Carthage and Hittites sign peace treaty
The trade embargo Mongols/Japanese vs. me has ended
Mongols declare war on Japan
Zulus and Koreans sign anti-japanese alliance
Sumeria declares war on Persia

Yes! One city in persia is mine! A base of operations. Also nice: That city was originally carthagian. Since they're far-far away, a flip is not likely. And they all love me for liberating them...

And: I love MPP's. Too bad I just conquered a persian city and they counter-attacked me...well, technically it's now my city, so...MPP activated, Sumeria entering the war...

Anti-japanese alliance...I can't read that too often. So they'll have trouble in America...

1790: Own losses: 0
Persian losses: Cav 1
Carthage and Sumeria sign anti-japanese alliance

Nice!!

1792: Lost own source of oil
Own losses: Cav 2, Inf 2
Persian losses: Rifl 1, Cav 2, 2 workers
Japanese losses: 1 spear
I destroyed a persian city

No problem, still many sources of oil left. Heavy fighting in Africa. I conquered a size-1-city which was destroyed during the process. Not much Persia left in Africa.

1794: Own losses: 0
Japanese losses: 1 spear, 3 frig, 1 gal
Captured a japanese city
Last persian city in Africa conquered by Zulus
Persian losses: 1 Cav
India and Byzantines sign anti-babylonian alliance
Babylon and Korea sign peace treaty
First anti-war-protests in Arabia

One japanese city in Greenland is mine. And a lot of ships were destroyed in it. A lone infantry captured the city...nice! I move two galleons to the french atlantic coast - a couple of units could conquer the other japanese city in Greenland. Then I could concentrate on an all-naval-war against Japan.

Africa is liberated from all persians! Now the "only" battlefield left is Asia. No more diverting forces...

Not so good: Anti-war-protests in my country. The war can't last too much longer...

1796: Own losses: Frig 1, 1 Inf
Persian losses: 1 Cav
Persians and Zulu sign peace
Persians and Dutch sign peace

Zulus and Dutch...well, the Zulus are in South Africa, how can they be of any use? The Dutch are weak...don't know if they ever were of any use...

1798: Indians and Sumerians sign anti-persian-alliance
Sumerians and Hittites sign anti-japan-alliance
Korea and India sign anti-persia-alliance
Own losses: 1 Frig

Hm...

1800: Widespread anti-war-protests; REVOLUTION! Changing to communism
Own losses: 0
Persian losses: 2 Rifl, 1 Cav
I captured a persian city!
Top 5 Scores:
1. Sumeria, 1450 / 2. Persia, 1391 / 3. Arabia, 1183 / 4. China, 1019 / 5. Japan, 942 / All others well below 800

Well, if I drop out of the war now, Persia will gain again. That can't be. So, changing to communism. I'm close to developing combustion, then mass production and flight are close - superior ships and air support. Also, I can then invent amphibious assault (or what that's called) and have marines - attack 8! Tanks are far away...but with a combination of Marines, Cavs, Inf and Artillery, I should be able to keep Persia on its knees...

I captured another city. So, even if I lose one in a culture-flip, I still have one.

18008ga.jpg

Status:
Carthage has lost much of its power, it's just a medium power. Sumeria and Persia are the dominant powers, I'm a local major power. Together, we should be able to defeat Persia. But they are still very powerful and the fact, that they're able to defeat Carthage while fighting Sumeria and me makes me worry...what if they're ahead in tech and get Tanks or Aircrafts before we do? Difficult...

Until now, persian defense consists of Riflemen. If they upgrade to infantry, advancement will become more difficult. They could use that time to quickly defeat the Celts and the Netherlands to increase their number of cities...

Africa is now controlled by the Byzantines. They're the dominant nation there. Zulus are still a minor power and that one korean city is meaningless.

America is still not a deciding factor in world power. Japan and China are both huge, but a small number of ground units and about six frigates are enough to keep them busy...

A little war statistic:

Units lost: Cav 12, Frig 7, Inf 6, Spear 1

Destroyed persian units: Cav 33, Frig 2, Rifl 4, Worker 2

Destroyed japanese units: Frig 6, Cav 1, Spear 2, Gal 1

Total enemy losses: Cav 34, Frig 8, Rifl 4, Spear 2, Gal 1, Worker 2

Well, I'll continue tonight and keep you informed!

Hi guys!

Sorry, I forgot my update-data at home...so, no update today. But there'll be an even bigger one tomorrow. I should be able to finish the game tonight (or at least get close to finishing it (or get finished ;))).

Thanks for the comments, I hope you enjoy it. Or get inspired, like Lord Iggy.

Hi guys.

My MPP with Sumeria ended here. But our friendship and our alliance vs. Persia still continued. Sumeria is my big protector - without them, things wouldn't go as smoothly as they do.

19361vi.jpg

How's the situation?

Well - just look at the map. Carthage is gone, Persia is gone, Mongolia is gone, Japan is gone.

I have cities everywhere. Even the Sumerians can't say that they're such a global player. I have cities in Europe, Asia, Africa, North- and South America and near Australia. I can strike within 2 turns everywhere. And I'm using this ability.

Sumeria is worldwide superpower. I'm worldwide mediocre power. China controls North America, the byzantines are losing control of Africa. South America and Australia are still undecided.

I should end up as 2nd or 3rd. Sumeria will win. The only global war possible is Sumeria vs. China. That could be interesting. All others are either insignificant or unbalanced.

And here's another war statistic. All numbers from these 136 years.

Own losses: Cav 13, frig 7, workers 11, Inf 23, spear 1, 3 ironclad, 1 privateer, 1 cruiser,

Killed persian units: Cav 12, workers 5, 7 Rifl, 1 Musk, 2 Immortal,
Killed japanese units: frig 9, spear 1, 1 Med.Inf, 3 Cav, 9 Rifl, 1 Galley, 1 Sail,
Killed byzantine units: 1 Inf, 2 Tank, 1 Cav
Killed Zulu units: 5 Cav,
Killed Celt units: 1 Med.Inf, 2 Gal. Sword,
Killed Korean units: 1 Tank, 3 Inf, 2 Bombers, 2 Cav
Killed Dutch units: 3 ironclad, 3 frig, 1 Cav, 4 Inf
Killed mongolian units: 5 Rifl, 1 Longbowman
Killed carthagian units: 2 workers, 1 Cav

Killed enemy units combined: Cav 25, workers 7, Rifl 21, Musk 1, Immortal 2, Frig 12, spear 1, Med.Inf 2, Galley 1, Sail 1, Inf 8, Tank 3, Gal. Sword 2, bombers 2, 1 longowman

Awesome. I did start my own real world game, but the AIs suck at it. Where'd you get that map? It's different than the one that comes with the game.

@Lord Iggy:

It's a custom made map. Someone made the effort to re-create the civ2-world map (which I liked very much) in Civ3. I downloaded it somewhere, added ressources and luxuries and changed the starting locations (which sucked really...5 nations in Europe...). I can upload it tomorrow if you want.

And the story ends...

1938: Sumerian modern armor seen
Own losses: 1 galleon, 2 artillery, 1 infantry

Modern armor - I don't even have tanks...the **** dutch sank a fully loaded galleon...these *****!!!!!

1940: Dutch losses: 2 ironclad

Yes!!!

1942: Signed anti-dutch alliance with Celts

Strategic situation: Me and the dutch hate each other. I have good relations with the Celts. The strategy: Getting units to Dutch-Australia is very time-consuming. So, I'll use the NATO-strategy: I'll bomb the hell out of the Dutch while the technological inferior Celts conquer their cities. For this, I have five bombers in a city in Indonesia and four bombers on a carrier near Australia. All destroyed dutch units are killed by bombers.

1944: 1-1-luxury-trade deal with Sumeria

1946: Aydab in North Africa founded
Sumerians destroy Persians

I re-settle Africa. Sumeria beats the Byzantines and razes their cities, so there's a lot of open space...meanwhile, the Sumerians are re-settleing Central Asia...

1950: Dutch losses: 1 ironclad

1952: Bayt Ras in North Africa founded
Trade deal with China
Dutch losses: 1 Inf

1954: Dutch losses: 2 ironclad, 1 Inf

1955: Dutch losses: 3 ironclad,

1956: Dutch losses: 2 ironclad, 1 gal
Suhar founded in North Africa

These were extremely deadly turns for the Dutch. I must've sunk most of their Navy with bombers. I concentrated my fire of my bombers and ships on one city - it had effect...

1957: Dutch losses: 1 Inf

1958: Dutch losses: 1 ironclad, 1 Inf

1960: Trade pact with Celts: Get spices, give Replaceable Parts

That way, they nearly match technology with the Dutch. Looks weird - bombing the hell out of the Dutch with bombers and battleships, while the Celts advance with Cavalry and Riflemen...

1961: Dutch losses: 3 Inf

1962: Taif in North Africa founded
Dutch losses: 2 Inf
First submarine in service

1963: Dutch losses: 3 Inf, 1 gal

1964: Dutch losses: 1 Inf

The Dutch have lost all their cities in Australia, the Celts conquered them all. They just have New Guinea left. Now the Celts can deal with them on their own, protected by the ocean between them (and the fact that the Dutch don't have a Navy left).

1967: Ended alliance with Celts
Peace treaty with Netherlands; get Eindhoven
Hama in Central Africa founded

East-New Guinea is mine...

1969: Enter modern Age!

19705uk.jpg

1971: Tabuk in North Africa founded

1975: Wall Street built

1977: Sana'a in RL Somalia built

1979: I have many foreigners in my nation: Persians, Dutch, Mongolians, Japanese, Indians, Koreans, Carthagians

I'm proud of my nation. I'm not the most powerful or the biggest - but I have cities everywhere on this planet and I can strike everywhere within one turn. I'm a true global player. Even the Sumerians can't do that. They're restricted to Euro-Asia, Africa and North America. I have cities on every continent...and a very capable Carrier Task Force...

1981: Finish, Statistics:

Domination: 20 % world area (Sumeria 22 %); 24 % world population (Sumeria 41%)
Cultural: Medina 4685 (Ur, Sumeria, 8876); Civ: 42.851 (Sumeria 100.416)
Score: 1.) Sumeria, 2390 / 2.) Arabia, 1662 / 3.) China, 1408 / 4.) Japan, 844
5.) Byzantines, 765 / 6.) Korea, 740 / 7.) India, 629 / 8.) Netherlands, 549
9.) Babylon, 543 / 10.) Celts, 496 / 11.) Zululand, 396

1981final3tp.jpg

Well, the Sumerians won a cultural victory (100K), but we're second in this game. Not bad. The most powerful nation was my most trusted ally and together we were the mightiest alliance on the planet.
My nation did well. Maybe a little war could've expanded my nation, but it could also have poisoned the relations to Sumeria. That would've meant open war between us - and aggressive nations like Persia and Japan could've used that.

OK, my story ends here. I hope some of you enjoyed reading it. Tonight I'll start another game on the Earth map, this time a nation from another cultural group. Maybe the Portugese...or the Vikings. I don't know if I'll publish it.
Thanks for staying with me and Arabia! And good luck for your own games. ;)
