Are Adam and Eve in hell?

You mock my pain!
I only have one arm! My other arm was severed by an invisible flaming sword! I lost a good buddy! You weren't there man!
Why do you think I mention cyborg arm research and God healing amputees* whenever I can???
*(thanks for the PM link, Erik)

Actually, I've never seen any hint that Eden was supposedly wiped out by the Flood. Seems a bit post hoc to me. And Eden seems kinda pansy if it could be destroyed with a Flood. Though it's funny how people need to make up explanations for something that didn't happen. Too bad they didn't get the memo.

Genesis 6:17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
Also Noah knew when the worst was over once plant life had returned to life when the dove brought an olive leaf, but before that the bird found nothing
2 Peter 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

Well Eden was made for Adam and Eve to live in when they were sinless, being that they had not sinned. Leaving the garden was punishment for that. You are also forgetting that there were 4 rivers flowing beside the Garden and yet we only have two of the river mentioned after the flood, The Tigris and Euphrates. One reason for this is the new rivers reminded them of the rivers that flowed by Eden and as such they named them after it. I know that that is a common thing since my city's name is called Perth due to the fact that the Captain of the ship saw the beautiful landscape and it reminded him of the Scottish highlands.

God should be there, as God kills over ten million people in the Bible, while Satan kills only ten. SO WHO'S THE EVIL ONE?

Well the Catholic Church is wrong.

No surprise there.

They are probably in purgatory, someone should buy some Indulgences for them. :p

I'm sorry that they are the real church, and if you believe any Christian mumbo jumbo then it would be theirs, the church founded by Peter.

You're thinking too small. Bodycounts are peanuts compared to creating a place of infinite, eternal torment for finite beings.

His own twisted head?

Or maybe he found a listing of the published bodycounts Jehovah either caused or participated in and added them up. I did that once about a decade ago, came up with a number in the millions but I'm not sure if it was that high.

Oh, we know that only refers to organisms with blood. It obviously didn't kill the plants and insects and stuff. And angels don't need blood!

What do I have to do, post a picture of my cauterised stump?

I was wondering, for those of you who believe in Adam and Eve, the tree of knowladge of good and evil, and hell, do you guys think Adam and Eve are there? Why or why not?
I think the story of Adam and Eve is a figurative folk tale rather than a literal one. The moral of the story being: "knowledge is power, but ignorance is bliss".

Things will always go wrong somewhere--the more you know about the world around you, the more often you're going to see things going wrong. The only way to be truly happy is to be oblivious to everything that's going wrong.

If Adam and Eve really existed, they simply ended up exchanging one problem for another. Blissful ignorance or greater control over your destiny? Each makes you happy in different ways. You can't have both.

If you could, please.

The reason why I drew in the arm was to personalise the photo to CFC (so you'd know it was me) and because I HAVE NO ARM THERE!!!!

Well first of all, if you believe in that sort of thing -- do some research. It was originally Adam and Lilith, not Eve.

Lilith was an evil, wicked woman who would not follow the traditional value of being a wife (per those times), and was cast out. She was Adam's first wife. Eve was his second, and the Bible tries to portray this via the rib story. The Bible also says Lilith went to Hell and became a servant of Satan. Truth is, she was merely a rebel in her times. A "sinner" if you will. ;)

Lilith is found in one verse of the bible. Well, the word Lilith is.

Lilith literally means screech owl, and in the context viewing this as simply a wild animal makes much, much more sense than any demonic personage or earlier wife of Adam.

(Why do we call Adam's wife Eve anyway? That sounds nothing like the Hebrew name, which would be pronounced more like Hava or Chawa.)

Portraying this as the "real" story is like suggesting that "real" American history is about Paul Bunyan fighting off redcoats and conquering the West.

Lilith is a Jewish folktale - and that's it. She isn't found in any of the canonical books, Jewish or Christian.

Comparison to folktales? Careful there. ;) How can you tell the difference between unwritten tradition and folktales? There is no such thing as a sola scriptura in Judaism.

Lilith is explicitly found in the old testament/Tanakh, though the references are sparse. The Adam and Lilith story only has records back to the 8th-10th century, though.

Lilith does not literally mean screech owl - that's an imperfect translation from the KJB. The tradition of her being a demon is older; by the end of the Talmudic period old.

...Plotinus, we need you! :(

I always thought the whole story was just a nice allegory for growing up. You first live a life with no problems and worries, your are not ashamed of anything, like being naked or asking questions (like any kid should be), then you bite into the forbidden fruit, be it sex or just the desire, namely puberty and you start to see and understand and you feel ashamed for whatever reason. and the grown up world is full of instances of "being ashamed".
