On a large wooden stella...,
Spoiler :
the following words have been etched in Aretanian. It is a pronouncement of the goals of the Arkadian Populist Regime (APR) should they be elected as the prime faction of Aretania.

The APR is a faction that wants to foster an organized development of plans and ideas from all citizens towards the betterment of all of Aretania. As the leader of APR, I, Seidrik, have gone to great lengths to announce discussions and topics of interest to APR. This was done both as a communication to our members and as an open invitation to all citizens to come in, sit at our table, and discuss with us your thoughts and input. We are an inclusive faction, and a faction that wants to hear what your concerns are and wants to hear what you think about how the game is going. We also want to improve rp content, while catering to the rp citizens, the game play citizens, and those who like some of both. More content, more inclusion, more organization, and more fun...this forms the core of what APR is all about.

As our nation's ruler, I would strive to see my faction's vision extended to all of Aretania. I would promote and my faction would host many new events to improve activity and interaction among those in our community. In terms of my rule over our civilization, I would delegate to trusted advisors, both elected from outside of the faction, and those from within APR, who show a real motivation and expertise in their respective areas. I would make posts designed to guide discussion and show where I wanted some advice and listen to the input from all of you, especially those in advisory posts, but I would hold final say, and would act quickly to make decisions.

Civics:Despotism
Spoiler :
Will hold a public vote after election concerning the adoption of Slavery.

Tech Path Plan:
Spoiler :
(Trade for Iron Working and Sailing)
Monarchy->Math->Currency->Construction

Foreign Affairs
Spoiler :
Spain:
Pursue limited war with Spain ASAP, but after negotiating tech trades with Spain, and then switch to Hinduism just prior to DOW. Strategy would be to go after their strategic resources and workers where possible, hitting copper sites first, workers second, and then start crippling her economy while we build up a city taking force. Goal is to take Spain out of the game entirely, raizing Barcelona to give more room to Arkadia.
Babylon:
Maximize peaceful relations, and work on a tech trade for IW and Sailing, if possible, before DOW on Spain, but not extremely critical to war plan. Also, we would engage in a policy of peaceful expansion to limit Lincoln's growth potential. We want a trading partner not a significant rival.

Domestic Affairs:
Spoiler :
** Allow limited autonomy to each city, with each city electing a representative to plead their case to Me and my advisors. I will maintain final say, but I am open to hearing concerns and suggestions as long as they will not impede the successful strategy that the APR as the PF would put forth.
** I will work toward a specialist economy, leaning on my experienced advisors to help maximize the potential of each city, but allowing for some rp personalized flavor to develope in each city also.

Game Play:

Spoiler :

** I foresee governors from each city supporting my rulership as I would support them. However, I will not allow any local needs to overtake national priorities set by my rule. Governors and advisors in support of organizing game play and analysis to foster a successful game and rp experience is what we desperately need, along with more inclusion and participation.
** My faction will strive to hold 2 turn sessions per week of no more than 10 turns each.
** In my absence a designated player will be called out to keep the game moving.
** Mon, Tues, plan session Wed play session, Thurs, Fri, plan session Sat or Sun play session, depending on player availability.
** Each session will generate a summary thread with screenshots of all cities at end of session, screenshots of major info windows, per decision by community.
** There will be offices run by a person (not necessarily a faction member) charged with collecting orders for their areas. Each office will also write a short summary of what occured that impacted their office.

Community:

Spoiler :
Events...rewards (rp and gameplay)...GUILDS! Guilds should be working to influence the government to foster their needs and to harness certain resources, conduct certain trades, etc...Some guilds should be like clubs sure, and places for like-minded people to chat and rp outlets, but some should also be working to become richer or to garner influence, etc...This will be fostered by my rule.

Positions:

Spoiler :
I will have three academies under me, supporting me as I rule Aretania. They are the Strategy Academy, Merchant Academy, and Bards Academy. Within these Academies, I will have via appointment and election individuals who will become key advisors in the decision making.

Current Advisors:
dutchfire (Trade Master, Merchant Academy)
BCLG100 (Grand Cardinal Vizier, Strategy Academy) (Research)
Blastoidstalker (Senior Historian, Bards Academy)
Diamondeye (POF Head of Faith) (Supreme Guru of Ibbenisian Hinduism, Religious Leader)
Lord Civius (Senior Diplomat, Strategy Academy) (Espionage, intelligence, foreign relations)
Joe Harker (Master of the Hammer and Plow Arkadia, Arete, Merchant Academy)(worker orders, infrastructure management, suggests city build queues)
fed1943 (Master of the Hammer and Plow New Giruvegan, Edorai, Merchant Academy)(worker orders, infrastructure management, suggests city build queues)

Open positions:
Master of the Tribunal (Land laws, Guild disputes,
Bard of Bards (Coordinates community events, responsable for feeling the mood of the people)
Master of Arms, Strategy Academy

** This faction's main motto: That I may Serve

Spoiler :
This means that although I, Seidrik, will be the faction leader, I will lead only so long as my people believe in my capability to be open to them and to serve them well. My personal philosophy is that of an organized and charismatic leader. In this light, anyone is welcome to serve in seats of power should they prove to be worthy and should they prove to have the time and motivation to do so.
** Core values are organization, open communications, power sharing/delegation, and inclusion
** RP is encouraged, but not to the extent that gameplay is pushed aside nor to the extent that potentially harmful long term decisions are made.
** Service is also a very important aspect of the life of a Samurai, which just happens to be our future UU (wink wink)

From the APR faction platform

Spoiler :
1) Be more open
2) Be more inclusive
3) More active polling
4) More friendly toward non-PF members
5) Elect non-PF members to seats of responsability within the PF, and invite members outside of our faction to advise our decision making bodies.
6) Instruction threads (I think NZL's new format is very good actually, and don't personally see the need to change that, pending comments and future developments.)
7) Turn session summaries. I am quite fond of what dutchfire presented based on the events of turn session 6, and would like to continue that format, an example can be seen here.
8) Our historians and bards will summarize the history that transpired during each turn session with illustrations where applicable.
9) Clearer goals and long term planning. (Read as Organization!)
8) I like the land-ownership ideas of the Triad, I must admit...there must be rewards for loyalty after all, and I also like the RP-based stories and rewards setup by Provo and the Church.
9) Community events, RP contests with rewards like the ability to control an exploratory unit or a unit in combat and write a story based on the events of the turn from that unit's perspective. My faction will also host more events, similar to Blastoid's horse races.
10) TRADE FEDERATION/Guild (Money is the life blood of any civilization)
The trade and commerce of civ4 is being vastly ignored, but that is somewhat due to where we are in the game atm. However, they should be a much more active guild with active inclusion in our decisions.
11) City Governors...institute a responsability for a given city and its BFC to an ellected official for the city. These governors would be charged with organizing the citizens registered at their city and flowing requests and concerns up to the prime faction in power. This prime faction would then assess the requests of the city versus national priorities. However, each city would be ruled at the very least in RP terms by the faction, which claimed it as their home. This in turn would require that our citizens would only have voting rights in their registered city for any given turn. However, all citizens would naturally maintain the right to vote on national issues. We would need a thread to illustrate who was registered where, one of the key posts will be book keeper, who may in turn need his/her own staff. (see below)
12) A Designated Book Keeper: Who is registered where, who controls what resource, who is in what guild, what faction, activity status, etc...
13) I would organize several advisory academies, to whom I would charge with the responsability of analyzing game data and intelligence and then make my orders based on my own insight and the advice of my advisors. My rule would be a command that would be flowed down through my academies and advisors, who would in turn act out my commands.
14) Guilds need to have a stronger roll in ruling our civilization. I foresee a ruling body that delegates many areas to what we now call guilds. Factions would be the ruling body, but it is the guilds that should be setting up long term goals and requests to the Factions, who then moderate discussion and debate and then make the final decision. Information and analysis should be encouraged and should flow up from the guilds.
15) Get organized and be charismatic about being open and including the citizenry so they stay interested.
16) The APR is not selective of its membership nor to whom it accepts feedback or communication with, however, insolence and intollerance will not be tolerated in private or public life. After all, PR and a unified front are essential to the longevity of any faction.
17) Let's make this a society, where you are all valuable, and you are all trusted until you prove otherwise, and loyalty, rp, gameplay, motivation, and citizenship are all rewarded!

/ooc Yes, I have learned to spell election correctly, lol!

Whoo hoo! :) :woohoo:

We are missing a Gov't Civic. The only one open now is Despotism so if we are to run this election we will have to adopt it. Heredetary Rule will be coming up soon so the Faction will be short lived if we don't adopt it. It is a tough decision but we must choose one.

I would also like to apply for the Senior Diplomat position.

Whats a master of Arms and how did i get it? Otherwise its a very nice platform but anyways you could shorten it slightly? either that or spoiler some parts so we can get the main points across quickly and easily.

I would like to remain the Geographer. I feel that Provolution's accounts lend him to have the title of Senior Historian. I am happy to take a leadership role in the Bards for the current time, though I like to change my focus in the game from time to time.

I Agree with BCLG Lets spoiler the points of the Platform.

I think we should put adopting slavery into our platform. Comments on this?

We could have game related things in a seperate spoiler-

e.g. city locations, tech plan, civic changes, diplomatic thoughts etc.

Here is the platform using some spoilers to neaten it up a little.

Trade Master

:gold: Currency :commerce:

:)

I agree, better us some spoilers.

I'd pick Despotism as our civic. That's the only way to get elected now.

May I add that "That I May Serve" would, in ancient Aretan (read: Japanese), be something like "Samurai"? ;) Just a thought. Samurai is derived from the word "to serve".

Thank you all for those excellent suggestions! I have adjusted the APR platform to be more organized and streamlined in appearance and to assist in your understanding. I have also added key elements with regards to plans concerning foreign policy, domestic policy, and tech path.

Anyone, recieving a position may of course come to me in private with a more appropriate post, a position where they feel their personal talents are more applicable. Also, I have no issues with taking down a few names and allowing a mini-election so to speak for positions with multiple applicants. I reserve the right to place you where I think you are more skilled though :)

Errr aren't they generally evil? you've never heard of a nice Grand Vizier. What is it? what would i have to do which is different to what i do right now?

I was trying to establish an rpish term for research advisor...Your advice has been incorporated on many fronts, and I appologize if it appears that I am trying to pidgeon-hole you. I thought a title might be fun. You make up a title, and I'll use it :p

No its cool i was joking, sure whatever works for me, I'll be Grand Cardinal Vizier- if anyone else knows any others, answers on a postcard.

In terms of tech.

I feel we may need construction for catapults in our war. I also think that COL can be the research we makje during war, as we will really need those courthouses with conquered cities. My preffered tech path would be Math-Construction-Currency- COL - Monarchy. I can live with What we have though.

All else looks good to me:)

Brilliant Captain of Learning about Goodies

I want monarchy higher up the list tbh, either that or a worker spam to get us some happy resources up and running.
