Well, since my old ask a pagan thread has been devoured by the ruins of the old OT (minute of silence in it's honor) and Paradigmshifter has done the same thing for his ask a game developer thread, I've decided to start a new thread for those of you who want to ask stuff to a polytheist like me.

Not at all. You see, that's why we invented the calendar back in the good old days.

Do you have to share any of your Gods with people you hate, like the 3 primary branches of the Abrahamists do?

one day for each god?

how many do you have? what are their names?

Not really. Festivals is what I meant.

Ostara ---> Goddesses Ostara and Idunn
May Day ---> Alfar and Vanir
Midsummer ---> Baldr

And so on.

Do you have to share any of your Gods with people you hate, like the 3 primary branches of the Abrahamists do?

Yes, but not on the same level. The adogmatic nature of paganism makes it very flexible: all we have to agree on are the myths. The interpretations then differe a lot. It's pretty much like catholic, protestant, orthodox and other forms of Christianity rather than the Chritianity vs. Islam vs. Judaism thing.

What can you tell me about German neopaganism?

German or Germanic neopagansim? If you meant Germanic I can tell you a lot of things, since I'm a practicing Germanic neopagan (yes, I know I'm not Germanic).

What is a brief outline of germanic neopaganism that you would present to someone who knew nothing about it?

The nine noble virtues is certainly what I'd talk about. These noble virtues are nothing but a rather mnemonic summary of the contents of the Hávamál, a poem which shows all that is morally virtuous according to our religion. I would do so in order to avoid idiotic questions on myths and because this mnemonic key helps non-believers to think of paganism as a religion.

So basicaly I'd tell them that our gods tell us to be hospitalary, hard-working, loyal, brave and strong in order to achieve greater knowledege just like vegtamic (ever-wandering in search of greater knowledge) aspect of Odin does.

gang this is great please keep posting more along the same lines, in the same sort of bite-size chunks?

"THE ONE TRUE GOD SHALL DRIVE OUT THE MANY!"

Ahem.

So, were you raised a polytheist? If not, what were you initially and what drew you to polytheism?

A science fiction TV show made as a prequel to the reboot of Battlestar Galactica. Within the show's universe, most people are Classical Polytheists, but some of the main characters are members of a monotheistic terrorist group called the Soldiers of the One who will exclaim that before they do their terrorist things.

would i be considered a "TRUE" polytheist because i celebrate their Holy days (holidays) and ethnic food festivals...

I could be wrong. But I don't think this is relevant or helpful in a serious thread on Polytheism. Please resist, if I may humbly so beg you, from posting any other information of this nature. This probably fiction.
