Still developing, but looking like a multiple shooting and explosion event in Paris near the soccer match between France and Germany, and possibly restaurants.

Gunmen have opened fire in several places in the French capital, Paris, causing several casualties, French media report.

At least one man opened fire with an automatic gun at the Cambodge restaurant in the 11th district.

Liberation newspaper reports four deaths. It also reports shootings near the Bataclan arts centre.

An explosion is also reported to have targeted a bar near Stade de France, where France were hosting Germany.

Reports say President Francois Hollande was watching the match and has been evacuated.

A BBC journalist at the Cambodge restaurant says he can see 10 people on the road either dead or seriously injured.

He says police have now arrived.

Shooting is said to be continuing.

Edit: There is also now a hostage situation at the site of one of the shootings.

Not even the most rabid England hooligans used synchronous bombs. It's probably some kind of terrorist attack which just used the match as a good way to have a maximum impact.

Well, with the police focusing their attention on the crowd at the match, they might get more lax regarding other places in the city.

...

Several grenades were thrown towards Gate D of the Stade de France, several bodies have been torn to shreds, according to BFMTV

This is pretty crazy stuff

Wait, how could anyone approach the stadium with "grenades" and throw them to a gate there?

(and i suppose this doesn't mean they threw the grenade over the gate-wall, cause it likely is a very tall one, no?).

Afaik french police is very serious, so how could grenade-holding people even manage to go near enough the stadium?

Grenades aren't that big. I'm sure one or two can be hidden in a jacket or coat.

But in such a high-profile sports event, with the place filled with policemen, you can bet they also had all sorts of teams around exactly to be sure no attack by anyone would be happening.

Also, not sure why the match isn't cancelled???

From what I hear, the match is over. Police are not letting the 70,000 audience members out on the street, so they've been let out on the field instead, to avoid a panic inside.

The BBC are saying they have not told the people at the game what is going on because they do not want panic.

I really hope this doesn't cause more hatred, racism and reprisal attacks.

I think if any of the 70,000 people have phones and internet, they know

As if they didn't have cellphones and Internet.
