Size < 6 kb and < 101x101 pixels, usable if above 100 days member and 100 posts

If your not 100 days member (yet), use this:

Cool, thanks! How do you create that star-glow effect on the top there?

Tutorial, just for you = )

Note: I'm just newbie and most things are self-learned. Similar features can be found in most programs, including potatoephotoshop. I use gimp (it is free not pay-for-use), maybe it is not as good as Potatoeshop - but I use this to do all my editing and converting needs (like making my avatars). Only thing it cannot do is convert *gif files to smaller, for that I use IrfanView tool.

That "Star Glow" Was supposed to be sunset glow (as IIRC, [some of] the pyramid tops were made to reflect sunlight)
Get Gimp from here. (it works on linux too (as most open source things works on linux))

Spoiler :

1. Open up picture we want to alter
2. Open layers dialog (Windows->Dockable Dialogs ->Layers (ctrl+L))

3. Make new layer (from that new window or via layers -> "new Layer"option

Make sure you select new, empty layer to work on (the one called sun, not the background) - just click on the New, "sun" layer in layers dialog.

4. Draw "sun rays" on new layer (don't start drawing anything fancy, just draw something simple)

5. Then we use Gaussian blur (Filters->blur->gaussian Alter these settings, until you find "sun shine" being nice enough. I think, I used something like 7x7.

6. And finally alter layers "Mode" and "Opacity", to get something you like this (there are other modes, that give different effects).

7. Finally, save this as *jpg, if you do this, gimp allows you to size file yourself (in this case < 6 kb)

Could someone please see it they can make the background of mine transparent without too much changing the effect of the red blurring from a lot in the center to less at the edges?

Can I get this in 100x100, transparent?

Now?

Which forum skin are you using? It matters because different skins have different background colors.

Meh, how's this?
