AWAW 1939-45 Game # 2

Hmm, maybe we should begin looking for a replacement for Dabrowski before this game dies. Can you all agree with that if he not responds in this comming weekend, we begin searching for a new player?

Okay, Dabrowski has been deleted due to lack of response.

I have started looking for a new player, so that we hopefully can resume this game as fast as possible. :)

If there's a position open, I'd like in. However, you should know what's being offered! I have MGE (this is MGE, isn't it?), but I have NEVER played another human opponent, PBEM, etc.

I am bery much the novice, here.

SOOoooo... I would need to be educated by you guys, and might make mistakes, saving the game, or stating things, etc.

Here's the positives: I'll not dissappear, or lose interest! Always a quick turn around when my turn!

So whatta 'ya say, guys? Can I get in your sandbox?:D

Please write direct, if so. I'll need to understand from scratch.

Great, sure you can join! :D

Okay, as the player of the Soviet Union it is your turn next.

Steps:

1) Install the scenario v.1.1 in your scenario folder in Civ2.
2) Install Lacy Civ v.3
3) Download the last played turn (Boli's turn) to this folder and unpack it.
4) Start Civ2 and go into multiplayer. Select "load a saved multiplayer game" and find the file you just unpacked (it's a ***.net file.)
5) Following this, ignore requests for ip adresses and names, just fill something in if you like. Finally arriving at the pick nation screen, select the Soviet Union. You are then prompted to write your leaders name (use the default if you like) but before you do that, run Lazy Civ v.3. While leaving Lazy Civ to run in the background while you play your turn, you can now write your leaders name and play your turn! :)
6) When you are finished, select an unused unit and activate it. Then press ctrl-N. That finishes your turn so that your units don't get any "go-orders" in your next turn.
7) THATS IT! :)

Hopefully this isn't too confusing and hopefully your predecessor hasn't put a password for the USSR. If you are prompted one when you try to select the USSR please report back to this thread, and we must deceide what to do then.

Concerning the political situation we have played 2 turns or so already. The USSR is at peace with all the major nations to my best knowledge so everything is still open.

As a final remark I suggest that you read all the posts in this thread through to get you updated on the most resent events.
Hopefully you will quickly get in the game, so that we can get an exciting experience out of this. :)

Go to it comrade! :king:

1st... thanks guys. Hope I didn't bite off more than I can chew. CPU illiterate, here.

I'll be attempting to follow all the instructions, and will get back as I can... hopefully without any problems (yeah, right). Off to download, will be back.

I'd forgotten I read it there.

1.) Now that I've downloaded the 'lazy 3' program, how also what/how to utilize this? How do I ensure it "runs in the background?"

**just downloaded the game turn from Boli.

Appears that there may be a password for the Russian player!

After helping me (learn) through all of this, guys, I promise I'll never dissappear from the game!

No, there's DEFINATELY a password on the darned thing! How do I circumvent it???

I think that I've just about got it all figured out. Loaded everything up, but could NOT access the Russian player... because of some unknown (to me) password.

Tried a couple of other countries to see if I was doing anything right/wrong. Game opened, I saw some movement, and turned away, then closed it down. Sorry if that was a 'no-no' as I figured it all out, but I don't even know which player's it was (a ship at sea).

Anyway, impossible for me to figure out MORE of making my turn... until the password dilemna is removed. Anyone have a suggestion???

I shall try to contact the previous player.

Help.

Hey Gary :)

Nice that you have put a lot of effort into this :king: :goodjob:

1) Concerning Lazy Civ, just run the exe. file when you have installed it, and just before you are to write your leaders name.

2) Concerning the password I guess you have done the right thing in trying to contact Dabrowski. Hopefully he will respond to your mail - else we have to get some help in trying to circumvent it.

Hopefully we have an answer soon. :(

Just as an information, I am also trying to contact Dabrowski, so hopefully he will respond.

*If* worst comes to worst... I read that forum advise which DUKE supplied, above. In it, it specifically mentioned this exact problem, which appears inherent to PBEM games when one drops out without notice to the other players. According to it... and if I read it correctly... then it is possible for ALL of the passwords to be removed, thus allowing us to then start playing, and each of us (presumably) then applying a password again with our first turn afterwards.
Hopefully, however, Dabrowski will provide this password so that we can move onward with the game.

Hopefully we have an answer soon.:(

...but remember, I'm the newbie.
It appears that this would be your call, BKA??

It appears that Dabrowski went MIA on or about March 10th, two (2) weeks ago. There's been requests to him from others (last week), and I've written him a couple of times... but to no avail... as of yet... Stalin says "Let's purge!"

Since the last player to play was the US player and their save is password protected I will need their passoword to remove the others and avoid making any changes to the game.

I'll send them a PM. That way I can get the file ready and if a response is not gotten from the previous Soviet player, you guys will be good to go.

Hmm if dabrowski DOES reappear I think it is going to be hard to contain this man's enthusiasm for the game. So if dabrowski's excuse is something such as "my computer exploded and I'm finally up and running again lads... sorry", then maybe we will have to open one of the other slots (minor allies/minor axis) for Gary here.

Sent the "stuff" Duke.
