Back to Back

My thots, speaking for myself: :shake:
> Understood we could mix-&-match leaders & civs?
> I pass if on a "predictable or land only" world. The 1st negates the fun of discovery & challenge & the 2nd negates the entire naval aspect of this great & diverse game.
> Allowing randon events = more like real world = more challenge (especially for lead civs; they tend to get the bad stuff ) = more fun (or excuses if U lose :nya:)

> I'm not sure, if so Team Nightknoedel has to rethink their decision.
> Ditto.
> Nope. Barbs yes, huts and events no.

I don't mind unpredictability, but only to the point where it doesn't favour one team over the others. Continent type maps are inherently going to cause issues with where people are, as is fractal etc. Every map is unpredictable as to where resources are and thus where you should settle though.

I can only repeat myself, I have yet to play a single game where teams are split up geographically, no matter the mapscript.

Hey ReallyEvilMuff, Count1 backed out of the game, would you be interested in joining in with AdrienIer?

Ok so how about this:

1. Difficulty will be Monarch
2. Random events/ Huts will be off
3. Barbs will be on
4. Will not have unrestricted leaders
5. As for the map, I will try to find something that hopefully everyone will be ok with.

Oh hey gpcii, do you have someone in mind you want to team up with? Or shall I look for someone?

I don't really mind whoever joins me in a team, just would be preferable if they were willing to talk strategy.

As for map inland sea would please everyone? Naval oppertunities, land access to all and very balanced. It's not being split from a team mate that I am too worried about, that is rare. But if some teams are together and some on a lonely isle then the game starts to get unbalanced, where some teams can tech happily safe whilst others need to build military.

Same here - the few teamer games I have played, I've always been right next to my teammate, no matter the map.

OK. What's call on civ/leader combos? M&M or normal combos.

No no no no no. First of all, on an inland sea map there is really NO REASON to have any navy whatsoever. Sure you can blockade on the inland sea coast, and I guess be forced to protect against a naval invasion. But you can also very easily play/win without any navy whatsoever, and that's no fun.

Also: map predictability is also no fun at all. One of the best parts about this game is discovering what the world looks like, slowly, over the course of thousands of years.

Also: being on an island isn't all its cracked up to be. You lose any trade routes with other civs; your teammate won't give you that bonus. You avoid early wars but also lose any chance to gain diplomatic advantages too. PBEM games are NOT always about warring and axe-rushing. And caravels and galleons come quicker than you'd think, so you still need to have a medieval military at the very least. And ultimately, if you are a war-monger going for that type of victory, being on an island is the ultimate slap in the face that delays you centuries. You'd need to do a naval invasion at some point if you do decide to expand out of your island onto the "mainland" and those aren't always easy, especially if you are limited by the number of troops you can put on Galleons, which you need to build... etc etc.

No, its not going to be "fair" - but this is civ, it reflects real life, and some people will have better advantages than others. Deal with it.

^This. I agree with Nighthawk in all aspects.

How about big and small with islands mixed in? I ran this a few times and each time each team was close to each other (at most they had some expanding room between each other), it allows for some navy, and I have yet to see a team that was completely isolated.

Totally agree! :high5:
Both team games i'm admin'g have that result with Big&Small with islands mixed in with LOW sealevel.
Very interesting & seems everyone has good yet different home lands & teamates are neighbors.

It seems that I am the exception here. I like pretty predictable maps and get my enjoyment from troop movement and tactics mostly. There is fun to be had exploring, but it is far more interesting to be in a combat situation. If the teams have balanced areas then you know the win or loss comes down to your ability in combat, economic management and planning of settles, rather than the land that lays before you or who else shares it. But then if the majority like a more random map and the features of this then I will cede.

So I'm joining with ReallyEvilMuff ? BTW Big and small is fine with me, the rest is fine either way.

I agree with hawk. Rather a fun unbalanced game than a fair booring game. I at least play for fun although trying to optimize. Also rolled a few maps and teams seems to always start very close. With a bad start u have to adapt its a part of civ. If ur small go for cultural victory and pop great ppl or whatever.
Big and small is fine for me.
