The "Glavnoje Razvedyvatel'noje Upravlenije" or GRU is one of Russia's intelligence agencies. This is their logo:

Can anybody shed any light on why GRU use the Batman symbol?

That's not the batman logo, this is.

There are some key differences.

its close enough.

Vladimir Putin: Prime Minister by day, crime-fighting superhero by night?

No it isn't. You can't just put a picture of a bat on something and say it's batman related. If it had a spider would Spiderman be working for this thing?

If it's done in the same style as the Spiderman symbol, then yes. The differences aren't that significant. Theres far more different ways you could put a bat symbol on your organisation's logo.

Find me a Russian intelligence agency with this thing on it's logo, then I'll show at the embassy waving signs.

Well it doesn't look like that particular BatSymbol.

Although it would be fun to see Putin's face placed on that one with PUTIN written on it.

Wikipedia says this organization was formed in 1918, well before batman's creation. So if that was the original logo, if anything, batman got it from them.

Which would support the theory that Batman works for GRU.:mischief:
