battles that realy did change the World?

Well I guess he could lead France to sucess. Do you have an article that shows Napoleon's skill outside the battlefield?

If even Plotinus is getting exasperated at how you don't do a simple search for facts, then I think you are beyond hope. This only confirms it. It's not even anything close to rocket science. If I were you, I wouldn't announce my ignorance to the world and would have gone to do some reading up. Not the first time.

A little mud slinging never hurt anybody

Of course. But crying "Mudslinger!" in your mudslinging is a little ironic and daft, don't you think?

Like Steph mentioned, one of the great achievements of Napoleon was reforming the entire legal and judiciary system (similar to what Justinian did foer the Roman legal system). Napoleon's "Code Civil" has been used as the basis for French law ever since, and became a model for many other countries. For instance, after the independence in 1830, the Belgian legal system was based on Napoleon's.

Someone told me not to judge a criminal until both sides are heard. Having a one-sided bias view is blantly ignorant and unjust. So next time, please think a little bit more before shooting such (redundant) personal attacks. I dont excatly like seeing that grotesque avatar of yours. I googled "Napoleon achievements" and went to the first link, here were some people's personal opinions. One which include the Napoleonic Code, I search for it on Wiki and read about it. I find its personally intriging that it was partly based on Islamic Law. I then clicked on another promising link. It told me some of his reforms, eg. Abololished slavery, Free Religion and also establing the French Bank and so on. But I felt, this was too little for Naploleon and I wanted to find out more. So instead of trudging through 200 links and pages for the info, I wondered why not just asked Steph, if he knew what other things Napoleon did. After all, Steph basically devoured the 10, 000 page book called "Everything you need to know about France". Is there a more perfect person to asked? And boy, he listed a whole lot more than I expected.

So bulls@*% to whatever you said about me being ignorant, when you yourself refuse to think that I could be capable of doing something smart, which can be regarded as ignorance in a one sided bias view;) . I think i shall call you by a nickname, how about little yapper?

Just following your advise, Yapper.

Spoiler :
Nothing like some good old mud-slinging, right? You could always try to do the same.

I feel quite good now. I cant wait for your response and see how you twist this one.:)

Moving on to more on-topic discussion, Battle of Cowpens anyone?

Well, if he had been given more time to administer his country in peace, there could have been more ;)

Instead of asking some vague and ignorant question, you could have been a lot more specific. In fact, you could easily have done your research only after being publicly embarassed and then claimed that you weren't being ignorant.

Good. So now you don't cry for mommy anymore? Step 2 is not to embarass your teachers, although I think the teachers in Singapore have a lot to be embarassed about themselves.

Aelf, don't be to harsh with Aronnax. Don't forget that you'll find much more info on Napoleon in French language than in English. At least, you'll find much more positive things. I'm sure the English have written 100x more about his flaws than the French :).

That's completly false information. There are 10,731 pages, not 10,000 in that book.

Well obviously.

Instead of asking some vague and ignorant question, you could have been a lot more specific........

How can "What else great did Napoleon do outside a Battlefield?" be any more vague? And I don't see how the question is ignorant.

In fact, you could easily have done your research only after being publicly embarassed and then claimed that you weren't being ignorant.

Yeah, I could have, Yapper . Or I could have just researched it before I posted my question. The thing is you dont know and you just assume in you one-sided bias view that, again, that I could be capable of doing something smart. Now can we go by who is the ignorant one?:mischief:

Good. So now you don't cry for mommy anymore? Step 2 is not to embarass your teachers, although I think the teachers in Singapore have a lot to be embarassed about themselves.

You know Yapper, I though you will be able to come out with something smarter. At least come up with something that would make pond scum flinch

Referring to yourself? :mischief:

In any case, to end my participation in this OT banter, I shall encourage you to come up with a better plan next time, instead of being forced to desperately defend a very exposed and compromised position.

Actually, the information your provided is also available in English

We write pleanty of positive things about Napoleon, we think its a very nice brandy :D

Oh wait, you were talking about the Corsican ogre? :mischief:

Referring to yourself? :mischief: How very third grade. I see you finally moved up a level

You know you still havent admited your in the wrong

Anyway I wish to stop this off topic talk so if you really find yourself needing to insult me or you will implode send me a message.

As I said, Cowpens anyone? First desicive American Victory in quite a long time, turning point for the conquest of South Carolina. I mean soilders would be very depressed if they keep losing, and low morale means more losses. And we can't lose the American Revoulution.

I can't think of any battles that truly changed the world but battles that were major turning points or only had limited influence.

Because there is another Battle of Poitiers that was an important part of the Hundred Years War.

My choice is the Battle of Sedan which resulted in the demise of the Second French Empire and the creation of a united Germany. The outcome of that war and what happened for much of the next 75 years of world history including both world wars are a direct result of that battle.
I could take that one step further and point to the Battle of Sadowa (or one of the other names) where Prussia told Austria to buzz off.

Which all seems to lend support to...

Chaos Theory EVERY SINGLE BATTLE SHAPPED the WORLD
