I really have no idea what this program is suppost to do:confused:

In brief, the program runs a number of calculations on how proteins are assembled in the body. The knowledge we get from this can be used in understanding the diseases that occur when the assembly goes wrong. The more knowledge we have, the better we will be able to cure those diseases.

The research includes cancer, Alzheimer's, Huntington's, Parkinson's, and more.

nah my family has no history of such illnesses:(
not that i don't think you people are doing a good thing, i'm just not intrested

dont see your reasoning, my family has no such history also but doesnt stop me.

You really think only people with a family history of cancer get cancer? Think again.

but why not have it running in the background anyway? i doesnt affect computer use.

Cloud ... No Worries, if you don't want to help cure diseases, actually. It's not like you're being forced to help (even though we think it will benefit you, personally, in the long run).

There are a host of distributed computing options: At BOINC you can donate spare computer time to various options (click on that link if you want to know more about any of these):

SETI@home looks for alien signals.
Seasonal Attribution Project looks at improving our ability to predict the weather
LHC@home helps do particle physics, learning more about super-advanced sciences.

All these things are worked on using computer power that you're currently not using. It uses the extra power.

Wow guys - bump from page 5!!! wats going on.. is Team CFC folding? like, in the bad way!

As many from my team use to say. Folding is not a sprint its a marathon :) We have "fewer" users than most the other teams, but they are really dedicated, thats all.
