They've been monstrously sized lately, but no, I've always had one going (so, the downtime to up/download mustn't be bad).

I have a question though - my intuition tells me that the fewer programs I have running, the better folding works. However, in my other computer the "Commit Charge" goes down when I close apps, but not the "CPU Usage". So, is there any benefit to closing apps when the computer is not being used.

I only use wireless, and I don't have an issue.
Do you have 'pause when completed' clicked? Does your wireless automatically boot up?

Abaddon, wireless internet shouldn't make any difference if your connection is fine otherwise.

Some programs sometimes make calls to the OS even when they are more or less sitting idly by, so theoretically that could slow down FAH a bit if it puts itself on standby everytime that happens. Doesn't seem too likely though. More likely would be that you're low on memory with a lot of programs running, but FAH doesn't need all that much memory, so it's probably not it either.

I'm not sure where you see commit charge in the task manager?

well im on the internet now aint i! This has been a problem for a few days now.. the internet works perfectly, but the folding program cannot get a work packet...

BUT

I am afraid i am bowing out guys... 3 reinstalls made no difference...it simply doesnt work any more on my laptop! Home computer will continue to tick over, but it not as fast.

I will continue to be a presence here though! Need to spam the thread to 1000 simply so we can start a new one and recruit more peeps

How about you hook directly up (cable) to download the work unit? That way it's not dependant upon the wireless. You just need to connect that cable every couple days.

But does the program upload a lot?
Because I can only upload 2 gigabyte per month from my provider, and I use bittorent so most of the time I dont have much upload left.
