Best characters from 80s cartoons

What does she do that's smart?

She problem solves, studies, writes, and condenses the moral of the story generally. There is less room to be clever outside "mystery capers" but she fits as far as the general genre allows. Penny's better, but Twilight's alright.

Penny was pretty cool, unfortunately I don't think there's a comparable intelligent young female character in the mainstream nowadays.

There are plenty of intelligent female cartoon characters nowadays. Adventure Time has 2 as main characters not to mention supporting characters, Avatar the Last Airbender and it's squeal have tons of them. I could easily go on and on.

I would think it's harder to find cartoons without at least one intelligent female supporting character or protagonist now.

I just find the voices annoying. Penny had a rather normal voice, IIRC. It seems like nowadays all the cartoon characters have high-pitched irritating voices. It could've been the same when I was growing up, I don't remember, I do remember always hating "the chipmunks" for that reason though even when I myself was a child.

Adventure Time always struck me as one of those shows that's trying too hard to be odd and completely forgets to be a good show.

Anyway, 80s cartoon characters? Gotta be Kenshiro. No real question about it. And if you disagree then....
