This is a thread for what you thought was the best game of the World Cup 2006 in Germany.

The canindates:
Italy 1 (5) - France 1 (3)- Italy becomes World Cup Champions on Penalty Kicks after Zidane gets ejected for a vicious head butt.
Italy 2 - Germany 0 (O.T.)- Italy scores 2 goals in the last minutes (119 and 121) to go onto the Finals.
Germany 1 (4) - Argentina 1 (2)- Lehman gets some helpful notes on Argentina's penalty kick shooters, and Germany advances to semi-finals.
France 1 - Brazil 0- Thierry Henry's goal beats defending champion Brazil.
France 3 - Spain 1- France scores a goal in the 83rd minute to win the game.
Argentina 2 - Mexico 1 (O.T.)- Maxi Rodriguez's amazing goal wins the game for Argentines.
Trinidad & Tobago 0 - Sweden 0- Shaka Hislop plays an amazing game to earn a draw against Sweden.
Cote D'Ivoire 3 - Serbia & Montenegro 2- A last second penalty kick goal wins the meaningless game for Cote D'Ivoire.
Australia 3 - Japan 1- Australia scores 3 goals after the 80th minute to win.
France 1 - South Korea 1- South Korea storms back to tie the game.
Tunisia 2 - Saudi Arabia 2- Tunisia scores in injury-time to tie the game.
Spain 3 - Tunisia 1- Spain comes to life after not performing so well.
Other- Any other game.

US-Italy :D (has anyone mentioned that the United States was the only team the World Cup Champ failed to defeat? :groucho: )

I don't think there's "a best game" of this WC. The best bits imo were parts of Spain-France, Brazil-France, Germany-Argentina, Germany-Italy and surprisingly the final itself, at least until the 25th/30th minute of the first half and for parts of the 2nd as well, not forgetting the headbutt and the penaltes.

When 90 minutes are concerned they didn't beat Germany either.

Neither Australia... :mischief:
Unfortunately they did beat us, but with the help of the ref. It shows how well Australia played, because we nearly drew with Brazil, except for some poor finishing and a late goal, and it took a highly dubious penalty for us to lose to the world Champions, so it looks like Australia was a good team. :D

Depends on what you mean with "best game".
If you mean "best football", then I'd have to say Spain-Ukraine (4-0)
If you mean "most entertaining match", then it's Australia-Croatia (2-2)

what no England game???? what about such classics as the 2-2 draw with Sweeden or the 2-0 win over T&T  ;)

The Italian win over Germany takes it for me, but if France had converted more of their chances I'd be saying the final.

Portugal/Holland was fun, because of all the cards.
