Generally the only time there is a half assed attitude is when the main opposition and the government are both crap. Then you get a greater proportion of people voting for a third party who;s ideology the mostly support. But on the whole people are not half-assed about politics, when I was in high school for example political discussions were not an uncommon occurance.

It may be rigid to your mind but it is the common view amongst most people I know. (and I am Australian so I extrapolate it as a general view)

I know a ton of people who just don't want anything to do with politics. If they were forced to vote, I am sure they wouldn't vote with much thought/research...

I get into periods when I want nothing to do with it myself.

That's true.

If there's genuinely nobody you can support, I would turn in a blank ballot to show that I cared, but that I wouldn't vote for any available candidates.

That said, there's usually SOMEONE you can support.

Heck, my grandpa once voted for his wife to show total contempt for both Bush and Gore
If there was truly no person I could support, and we weren't running yet (;), then I'd place my vote as a write-in for you! I wonder how the counters would handle a name like Domination3000? Since that probably wouldn't work, write-in for Jeb Bush.

Well, I could send you my real name;)

Then again, that would just be really creepy and funny, somebody voting for me from a state I've never been too (What state do you live in? If its on the East Coast I've probably driven through it.)

Good 'ol Virginny!

When all else fails, if there are no candidates you like, a write-in for Spiderman never hurts.

Vote Spidey 2012.

rick perry/michele bachmann is my dream ticket :)

Bachmann, seriously?

The lady is a hypocritical liar who feeds off of hate and misinformation. I mean, this is the lady who equated our tax level to the holocaust.

As an Obama supporter, it is also mine.

My dream ticket would be zombie LBJ with zombie clinton, but I don't see that happening any time soon.

I still want zombie Lincoln.

A zombie Lincoln/zombie Lenin ticket would be able to conquer the world.
"Must crush capitalism and eat brains while freeing the slaves and preserving the union!"

Uh, no she didn't (Not saying I like her, just trying to keep the facts straight.)

I want Ron Paul, and as long as he doesn't die I don't care who his VP is.

Uh, no she didn't
Uh yeah, she did.
In a speech to New Hampshire Republicans, Bachmann recounted learning about a horrific time in history as a child — the Holocaust — and wondering if her mother did anything to stop it. She said she was shocked to hear that many Americans weren’t aware that millions of Jews had died until after World War II ended.

Bachmann said the next generation will ask similar questions about what their elders did to prevent them from facing a huge tax burden.

“I tell you this story because I think in our day and time, there is no analogy to that horrific action,” she said, referring to the Holocaust. “But only to say, we are seeing eclipsed in front of our eyes a similar death and a similar taking away. It is this disenfranchisement that I think we have to answer to.”

There is even a video in the link showing Bachmann saying this.

She is saying that people will be asking similar questions on what "the elders did to stop it" and saying "But only to say, we are seeing eclipsed in front of our eyes a similar death and a similar taking away."
She is, if not comparing them, equating them.

"Well, we lowered taxes of course. That didn't work, so we took the logical next step. We lowered taxes even further. Not doing so would be socialism and we all know how that worked out for Germany in the 30's don't we?

No go to bed Next Generation and don't forget to thank Hu Jintao in your prayers tonight for bailing out our country :)"
