I don't think we had a thread on this, so here we go.

What do you think the best song of the year was? The poll is just a collection of 18 mainstream (from an American POV) songs with a slight CFC-minded tilt. It is not meant to be the focus of the thread, and feel free to vote for one of the two "other" choices if your favorite isn't listed (and please don't be mad at me for leaving your choice out).

And do you think 2004 was a good year musically? A sucky year? So-so?

Discuss! :)

Would you think of a single released in 2004 from an album released in 2003 as a song of 2004?

BTW, 2004 was quite a good year, considering great (if not necessarily groundbreaking) releases from B L A Z E, Dio, Saxon etc.

All music from 2004 sucked. As far as I'm concerned, the only good thing to come out of the 2004 music world was the Guns N Roses Greatest Hits, but then again, I already had all the music on that CD anyways.

I suppose.

Mase - Welcome Back

Puts on flame retardant suit. I'm going to need it.

I thought I was the only GNR fan in the village!

Numb/Encore from LP ft. Jay-Z and Amerika- Rammstein and some kind of monster-metallica

From the choices, I only like one song, which is Rammstein's Amerika.

My other faves are....

Rammstein - Mein Teil
Placebo - Twenty Years
Marilyn Manson - Personal Jesus
and a song which wasn't released as a single.....A Perfect Circle - Passive

Hmm... then I'd say "No More Lies" by Iron Maiden, though it really appeared on a "limited special souvenir EP", a couple of months after the album it came from was released.
Anyway, I'd say that's the best song since 1998 at least, so that's fair enough ;)

As much as I love bowling for soup, I'm gonna have to go with "something else by an artist mentioned above"

Green Day - American Idiot

Why is there crap hip hop? I like that? nananana? What about Jesus Walks? or Why? Anyway, I voted unmentioned artist, because I think Jesus Walks was the best. Honorable mentions: Grand Finale (Lil Jon ft. Jadakiss, Nas, Bun B, TI, and Ice Cube), Coast to Coast Gangstas (Sauce Money ft. Bun B, Joe Buddens and WC), and Hustlers Withdrawl (Pitbull). From Coast to Coast Gangstas (sauce's verse):

Don't get it f***ed up cuz Sauce calm with his grammar/
I'm like baking soda/
b***h I'm armed with a hammer.

I hope you realize he stole that from Depeche Mode.
