Best song of the year, so far?

If you want to include "Meteora" by Linkin Park, then the winner is "From the Inside", hands down. Really the whole album is better than any song of this year.

We still have not had a truly amazing song in 2004... overall unless I'm missing something it's been a fairly bad year for music. A song of the year would have to come from someone we know of but would not except to produce anything brilliant, and manage to bring together both rock and rap fans.

I like Bucovina from Shantel - it's some kind of strange mixture of traditional Balkan style music with modern whatever. It has a polk feeling (in a positive way) to it and is really likeable (dl it, if you have no idea what I'm talking about).

Another good one (though probably from last year) of the same style is "Wir Wissen Nicht Wohin Wir Gehen" from Binder-Krieglstein.

I'm really into more traditional music this year: I can also recommend Kaizer's Orchestra with "Ompa til du dor" (Norwegian). It has a strange whackyness while being very powerfull.

I'm probably just trying to compensate the amount of Motorhead and Fear Factory I've been listening to in April.

The most catchy song this year so far is definitely "Wovon lebt eigentlich Peter?" from Winson.

Never heard of most of the songs in this thread, but "My Band" was absoloutly ****e, and I can't see how anyone would want to listen to it.

"Franz Ferdinand - Take me out" is my favourite so far

my vote would go to "Float On" by Modest Mouse...if anyone actually knew about them.

That's a good song.

And its the only one I like that has come out this year.

The year is still young - wait for the new Interpol and White Stripes albums!

Meteora sucked. And it wasn't 2004.

From: Jay-Z's Black Album:
"Public Service Announcement (Interlude)"
"Allure"
"Lucifer"
"What More Can I Say"
"My 1st Song"
The best song of the year is definitely not a rap song unless it is as superlative as Hey Ya or Lose Yourself. There has been no good rap produced in 2004.

"This love" is pretty good, but it has no depth. I don't really think you can choose the best song of 04 when less than half has passed.

Clearly, it's that one about milkshakes. No other failed attempt at songwriting has ever brought me closer to radio-destroying berserker fury.

Is "2046" a movie or something, and if it is, can someone explain it to me?

The best movie director of the world has directed it (he is Marla Singer's boyfríend's favourite director too (may she have watch one of his movie soon)) and the names of the actors of it absolutley stunning. Tony Leung, Ziyi Zhang, etc... Tarantinto is one of the greatest Wong Kar-Wai fans there is and he should guarantee WKW's victorty. I have the entire WKW collection on divx, so PM me if you want to DL one of his movies.

Hooga! Hooga! Hoogawah!
