Beta Testers Needed!

I feel like there are less of us everyday...

Jooyo, Aaranda, Quibling, gregac, Xionn, and Vincentz are gone... (Or at least stopped producing.)
That just leaves me, you, generalstaff, Civ Fuerher, Dancing Hoskuld, and Sarkyn.

That 50% gone...

That may have to do with Summer Vacation ending. However, not all those guys have anything to do with schools/universities, and even then, they should have enough time to answer concerns in threads. Also, Aaranda had a computer crash; I know if that happened to me right now, I would be in the same boat as him. You also forgot about Zulu 9812 who provided us ROME.

Also, a lot of older RoM posters do not post here anymore, just checkout Zap's credits section of the readme.

Commander Bello, Maatissi, 0100010, RobO, Oatse, Lomion, Otto.Davila, baha, Dewion, ersner, d_beauch, cuteunit, Lawrie, Big Heb, Rone, Jabarto + many others - feedback

I think only Commander Bello and Jabarto are regulars here still. But I'm getting off topic.

Dang. I didn't even know any of those people. I didn't start playing RoM until 2.3, and didn't start modmoding until 2.61.

Beta4 Uploaded. Released. Enjoy. Tell me if there are any bugs, but their shouldn't be. Beta4 needs a clean RoM with none of my modmod's but after this, I will never require that again.

I know I sound like a noob, but I have been lurking around RoM for a very long time. My first post was on Feb 26, 2008 but I am sure I had been lurking even before that. It had to be around v1. something. But even then it was an amazing mod.

Are you sure? I modularized it, so it will appear at the very bottom of the list. I have noticed a bug with the civics screen and the military happiness. I've fixed it, and beta4 will be up soonish.
Yes I am sure, the XML/GameInfo/CIV4GameOptionInfos.xml is the one which comes with RoM and does not have your options in it. I just did another clean install to be sure to be sure.

Edit - that was beta3, downloading beta4 now to see.

I know about the bug you had. I saw it myself... I ended up moving that file back into the core RoM files because I found out that the gameoptions need to be in order. Or else.

I've fixed it with 1.4beta4 though.

Did you put in that new tech era XML thingy Jdog talked about in the BBAI forum too and modified it for RoM in your beta?

Heh, I've been with RoM since 2.1 and modded since 2.12... I've come a long way from modding with only XML, then buttons and python. Now onto SDK and 3d graphic editing(yes, i finally got 3ds max)! :D

Beta5 Is Out! Basically, it's awesome in a package. If you've ever got a waiting for bug or CTD, fear no longer! ALL bugs have been fixed in beta5. It basically is the final version.

Also, new features in Beta5:
BULL. It allows you to customize the BUG options (Control-Alt-O) much more
RevDCM 2.6Alpha - yes, you can see the early gritty version of the next RevDCM. Don't worry, it has no bugs.

Basically, this is mostly a bug fix. Beta5 is not savegame compatible (sorry). You can install beta5 over beta4 or a clean version of 2.8beta, but not over beta3 or earlier builds. If you install it over beta4, it will, in the middle of installing, ask for an uninstall of beta4. This is normal. Just allow the installer to do it's job. If it hangs for a second, be patient.

That's strange. Can I see a save of this?

Argh! it was way past my bedtime and I forgot to save:eek:. However I did get a couple of screen shots. I should have checked the copper to see if I was getting that from the fort in the mountains but I didn't. Attached are the screen shots

Next time, save your screenshots in JPEG format. BMP wastes lots of space. Anyways, I see the bug. I'll see if I can replicate it.

The tech that removes the penalty for movement in mountains means that there is now no cost for moving in a mountain even if there are no roads. Shouldn't the cost to move be at least the same as hills? This is still beta4. It turns out I had saved but cheated and moved the sulphur to a nearby hill ;)

Good catch. I needed someone to test out those options (I don't really have tons of time to check little details). I also can confirm the other bug where you couldn't get access to the resource, it's still in beta5. I'm working on a fix.

EDIT:
Fixed the Movement bug.
EDIT2:
I think I fixed the bonus bug.

Edit (final): Ignore this - the cup of tea worked so did the install.

I can't get beta5 to install. I have the right directories and files (baring dyslexia problems). here is the message I get.
Code:
Error in action RenameFile

I think I will go and have a cup of tea and try again later :)

Edit: just for the record it does rename init.xml to init.bak. Then nothing happens!

First thing I notice with beta5 is that the fonts are broken. Text is over writing other text (pic 2, popup for cerimonial burial) and the happy and health icons are strange (pic 1).

The BUG options don't seem to be working, or at least some of them. I don't want the advance combat stats so I turned them of in the BUG options, see pic 1. However in pic 2 you can see that they are still on!

I figured it out. I installed ONLY this and it had no green faces or messed up text. Then I ONLY installed Early Buildings v1.1 and poof the problems happened. I also notice in your screenshot you have a picture of a graveyard building which is part of that set. Which means its not this modmod at all but is Early Building Modmod v1.1.
