Beta Testers Needed!

Eureka! I've fixed it. For those too lazy to wait or redownload the huge package, replace the CvGameCoreDLL in the Rise of Mankind/Assets folder.

@lkp000
The GlobalDefines.xml should be in the Rise of Mankind/Assets folder. However you may not need to change it, as I upped the limit to 5, over the previous value of 4 for Wonders, and 6 over 4 for National Wonders.
Thank goodness.:D

I will play it after I finnish the game I just started with 1.51beta2.;)

So far though 200 turns, it has taken 1 sec. per turn with 1.51beta2.

Thanks for the update :) The DLL in Beta2 was causing a reproducible CTD for me which had no apparent workaround.

1.53Beta3 is up! I certainly hope that is the last one.

Also, anyone using a non-default Civ install, can you tell me if the installer finds your install directories? I can't test it myself, but I added a script to check your registries for the install path, if there is one.

No. I have Civ 4 installed to "C:\Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Rise of Mankind" but the installer points to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Rise of Mankind".

It didn't work for me either.

I checked with Regedit - there isn't much Bts stuff in there.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CivBeyondSwordReplay\DefaultIcon
has the value
C:\Spil\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe,1

I'm running Vista 32bit

The Complete edition directory is "C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Rise of Mankind"

ps: what does "Program Files (x86)" mean? all my games seem to install to the "Program Files (x86)" and my programs seem to go to just "Program Files".

ps again: amazing modmod! really really greatfull for the speed enhancements. good luck with exams!

ps again again: you may want to increase the size of the event popups now they have images, i tend to have to scroll down to see the last option, not a big problem but it sort of distracts you from the image.

The new download is crawling. I'm on my second try since it buggered up at 26mb the first time/

The "x86" is for 32-bit programs, as opposed to "x64" for 64-bits, which the standard Program Files folder is under a 64-bit Windows Operating system.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/x86

So, since Civ4 is a 32-bit application, it would be installed to the "Program Files x86" folder, while, say, the 64-bit version of OpenTTD (or maybe Crysis?) would install to the 64-bit "Program Files" folder.

Wow. CTD only 300 years in. And I can't load any of the saves as it goes 'Failed to uncompress game data'

*edit*

Right, started a new game, then tried to load the 6000bc save, same thing.

*editedit*

Deleted ROM folder, reinstalled both, same thing. Unless it's just me, there's something fundamentally borked with the new 1.53 beta.

Hey Afforress, I'm not sure if it has to do with your modmod, or GeneralStaff's "Leaderhead Pack 2" modmod. I keep getting an odd crash that I can only assume has something to do with the audio. It keeps telling (in the logs) about certain audio not playing. I've also noticed that the game happens to crash (program execution error) and the log says this in a certain line:
Code:
Audio.Log
[181298.343] ERR: FAudioManager::GetAudioTagIndex(): Could not find string AS2D_DIPLO_ATATURK_LATEY of TagId 3
[181299.218] ERR: FAudioManager::GetAudioTagIndex(): Could not find string AS2D_DIPLO_WASHINGTON_LATE of TagId 3
[181299.484] ERR: FAudioManager::GetAudioTagIndex(): Could not find string AS2D_DIPLO_HUAYNACAPAC_LATE of TagId 3
[181299.703] ERR: FAudioManager::GetAudioTagIndex(): Could not find string AS2D_DIPLO_MONTEZUMA_LATE of TagId 3
I know the music is there and I don't see any other errors within the xml themselves. I've also noticed that apon having your new beta 1.53.3 that Meiji and others have the "Chinese Unification" music.
Code:
RoM 2.8.3 (Zappara), Early Buildings (GeneralStaff), Leaderhead Pack 2 (GeneralStaff), AND 1.53.3 (Afforress)

I experienced the same thing on two different PC's.

I'll look into this

The new download is crawling. I'm on my second try since it buggered up at 26mb the first time/

It downloaded at 2mb/s for me, it's the same server as all the over 1.5 beta's/

I'm sorry, beta3's release has been a bit of a nightmare.

The audio is borked ever since I started including new audio in my modmods. I need to look at that.

TO EVERYONE:

I'm sorry about all the false starts and failed-beta's. It's my fault. I've got a new beta, on which works on the OP. I just gave up and decided to rename it beta4, and beta3 will just go down as the beta that failed miserably. I suppose this is the whole point of the thread, to point of bugs in my builds, but I should have done more testing...

Thank you all for putting up with me. ;)

It's early morning wend, so at least I didn't break that end of the deal.

You said something about Mastery ending too soon?

That puzzles me because your setting is the same as I put it. Only way I can think of is that a AI civ conquered all the world in your test AI Autorun?

Unless, that is not how Mastery works.. Then in that case, I'm at a loss.

Mastery ends the same time a time victory does. With the added eras that RoM has, it ends before the transhuman era, way before the spaceship.

That said, the Time victory needs to be fixed too, there is a reason no one uses it.

Here is the thread on the original Mastery modcomp.

Maybe somewhere in there you will see what is wrong and figure it out. Remember, I don't want Time victory to be included or at least be postponed to after I conquer th entire world.

Hopefully it helps.

Well, the way it works is that if no one conquers the world by the time the time victory time runs out, the game ends. If you kill everyone else off, you still win immediately.

However, my problem is that the time victory ends too soon. Since that ends too soon, and the Mastery Victory depends on the time victory, the mastery victory, by extension, ends too soon too.

You beat me to it!

I saw your question and the answer to it about changing end year.
*groan* That is a lot of math work to get me 5000 CE. Though I think I know how to do that. Just increase vastly the number of months for Transhuman Era. I will just concentrate on Snail gamespeed for now. But... :shake head: wow...

EDIT: I meant increase Turns.
You know what I mean . :groan:
Good luck with that.

Oh by the way you need to change from 0 to 1 in your Mastery file in the line
<Endscore>. Just in case. I think you already know :).

Hey OS79! I am playing with the Eternal/Gosmaker option you converted but it has one flaw: The years pass by as if it would be normal speed. I am now in year 2200 (good I didn't include time victory!). One follow-up-bug is that the world fair which starts in in the year 1851 now frequently passes by, although I am only in early medieval ages.

@Afforess: could you make an early world fair "steady event" maybe? A big "Best Knight Tourney", which can be in different (christian) countries and comes at about 1200 AD? Giving the city it is in half of the bonusses of the world fair maybe. There could even be a huge gathering of prehistoric people which happens frequently from 6000-1500 BC, giving the city some commerce surplusses but halfs the city growth...?
