Betting and Speculation - The "Entirely Separate Hypercube" Civ!

If Venice can't build settlers then Collective Rule just provides another worker? I didn't do Liberty on my OCC.
I did Liberty in an OCC once. Collective Rule gave nothing. No free Settler, no free Worker. I did get the production bonus to producing Settlers, technically, but since it's OCC ... :(

Wow. I'm still unsure about all this, but if that's Venice's UA, it'd be so easy for them to get the National Wonders... I mean, if every other city you have is a puppet, you'd only need the building in Venice itself.

I haven't been on all day and this drops. Damn. I was able to track down the Venice info in this thread, but is anyone kind enough to clue me in on the Shoshone? I can't seem to find much.

Thanks.

So the Liberty tree is utterly useless to Venice. Have they ever made a civ that made a policy branch unusable?

Leader is supposedly Pocatello, not Washakie

Also,

For those of you wondering, if my memory serves me correctly the Shoshone had a scout replacement that was stronger and apparently could choose what it got from ancient ruins. Its other UU was a cavalry unit I didn't read the specifics of, and its UA was that cities started with larger borders as well as something else that I can't remember.

While playing as Japan, Populism does nothing - so it's not unprecedented.

My opinions on Venice, if these are true: Glad it's not just another Trade Routes Civ - We would have three of them, which is a bit much... Sure, they get double the amount of Trade Routes, but they are hardly based on them. Personally, I think they could be fun! :) Pick Fertility Rites, Swords into Plowshares and Feed the World, grab Temple of Artemis and Hanging Gardens, and watch as Venice becomes one humongous city! :p

On Shoshone - Why Pocatello instead of Washakie? Is the choice better, worse, the same? At least it's not Sacajawea... The Scout sounds fun, and it's an interesting UU. The Comanche Cavalry could be better though...

"Leader: Pocatello
Unique Ability: Founded cities start with additional territory. Units receive a combat bonus when fighting in friendly territory.
Unique Unit 1: Pathfinder; Replaces Scout. It has 8 combat, costs 30 p, allows you to choose ancient ruin bonus
Unique Unit 2: Comanche Riders; Replaces Cavalry. 134 p, it seems to have 4 movement like Cavalry but has an ability that gives +1 movement, the explanation says they have quick attacks."

(I don't understand why the thread was wiped without a trace. It should have been locked, its first post edited and an explanation provided.)

Where did you get this from?

Btw, I'm not exactly sure what did the guy post.

What I know:
-Venetian UA: can't get settler, can only puppet cities, double trade routes, might buy stuff in puppets
-Venetian UU: Great Galleass
-Venetian UU: Weird Merchant, might puppet CS

Shoshone's UA:?
Shoshone's UU: stronger scout with the ability to pick the bonuses from ruins
Shoshone's U?: ?

Can someonw clarify this? Also, what if the Great Galleass IS the Merchant replacement?

It was in the thread that was deleted where it revealed everything about the last two civs as a leak. Personally the pathfinder sounds awesome.

Thanks.

Hardly utterly useless. You'd still get the worker bonuses, and you'd get the production bonus and happiness bonus from Republic and Meritocracy. But arguably, Liberty will be a very unlikely tree for Venice to dip into, as it is in fact in any OCC game.

Man I'll be playing as the Shoshone first for sure, if it pans out!

I saw the original thread and saved its contents. Actually, I have it open right now, I never closed the page.

Welp, I guess that confirms the thread.

The Huns won't quite work right, though. They had a fairly contiguous territory. The only way for that to work in Civ5 is if you wait for everyone to settle cities right next to you before you go on your killing spree. Fun, yes, but even more limited.

Venice at least had a scattered naval empire, which makes more sense when you look at a map for how it turns out.

Can you post it or send it to me so I can post it? Seems like if we can put up part of it we can put up all of it.

Of course. To be honest I meant the "Collective Rule" policy - or a part of the branch. Not all of Liberty. Since it was pointed out that Japan doesn't gain anything from Populism, though, then it isn't unprecedented.

I was thinking of something... What if Venice, for some reason, starts landlocked? It means they can't build a single galleass, because their other cities are puppets. Is it correct to assume the Venetian puppets might buy units too?

I think it's almost certainly correct that you can buy units.
