[Beyond the Sword] History In The Making

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but looking though 147 pages would take me a good while.

Basically, within about 10-20 turns with this mod the game crashes and I have to hit ctrl-alt-delete to get back to task manager, and a Windows error message stating 'Civilization IV has stopped working' or something to that effect is all I see.

I am runnin Vista x64, HD4890 w/ Catalyst 9.5, Phenom II 940 Quad CPU.

EDIT: lol, damn, just read back a bit and noticed a lot of people are experiencing thes early CTD with Vista.
 
I can't seem to play for long and your Mod CTD or gives me errors. I am installing Vista 64 bit to stop the crashing. Now I see it won't help with some Mods.

I love the Mod, the ideas behind it, the options are brilliant, now if you can sort out the tiny bugs in the Mod. Outstanding. :lol:
 
Phantom Blockades:---

Getting these in every game..A barb galley (e.g.) comes along, blockades some sea tiles, and even when its destroyed, the "phantom blockade" stays...making said tiles unusable for the rest of the game :cry:

You can see two such tiles in the screenshot below

I have no idea which of the included mods in HITM is causing this...

Anyone?

Phantom blockages - I am getting this in other mods as well as this one. Definately getting it in RoM but also in a few others that I have tried reciently.
 
This is actually an issue with the Unofficial Patch... It should be fixed in the next RevDCM update as it's cause was recently isolated.
 
Don't play as Hitler :D. But on a more serious note, try loading tha game where you queue the jet fighter and forward the game to the "crash year". Does it still crash then?

I keep getting the same CTD. Did anybody ever solve this issue? To me, it appears that some thing is missing in regard to the Tornado graphics (the German unique jet fighter graphic). Any help would be appreciated.
 
Hey guys. :)

Sorry I've been away for a while... things have been pretty busy in real life. I find myself having less and less time to mod History in the Making anymore, so the next patch release will be the FINAL patch for HiTM. I'll try and squash as many small bugs as possible before a final release, but I'm afraid the Vista compatibility issue is something I will not be able to do.

I'm going to take my time with this final patch, and focus mainly on easy bug squashing and making last minute game tweaks/balancing. For the most part, I'm happy with where HiTM is as far as game play goes, but there are a few things I'd like to work on, before I go Final.

So I may work on this patch the rest of the summer, and release it in... August, maybe?


Hi - brilliant Mod!

I tend to play more FFH or Planetfall, but just now finished a HitM 3.02 game.
To thank you for that nice experiance I'm giving you a few errors I encountered - none of them all that serious:

In CivSpecificGreatPeopleModNameUtils.py, generateCivilizationName() Line:443
" KeyError
Gameplay wasn't effected in any obvious way, just the Python Error PopUp.

In CvRandomEventInterface.py, getHelpOverwhelm1() Line: 3690
code uses PROJECT_MANHATTAN_PROJECT, but it's a building now.

code uses TXT_KEY_HAS_RANGED_BOMBARD_ATTACKED and TXT_KEY_HAS_BEEN_RANGED_BOMBARD_ATTACKED, which are not defined.
Just a TXT_KEY... message - no problem.

Thanks... The Manhattan Project has been addresssed. I'll look into the others, but if it's not affecting game play at all, I may just leave them alone.

Yeah, something funky is happening with Germany in the later stages of the game. I tried starting a game in the Future era with Germany, and I get that infamous Tech Screen/no interface bug.

This has something to do with unit graphics, because I've fixed identical bugs with other civilizations in the past, so I'll look into the Tornado and see what's up.

Ok, I fixed the CTD crash with the German Tornado. Seems I made a typo in the LateArtDefineTag in CIV4UnitArtStyleTypoInfos.xml file.

Here is a quick fix for it. Just unzip this file and move the contents to your HISTORY IN THE MAKING/Assets/XML/Civilizations/ directory. When asked to overwrite, select "yes".

This fix will be added to the Final patch.

I consider this bug to be a useful feature of the BUG interface. If you run into it, it means you have a bad art defines entry in your EthnicUnitArt file. Before releasing a version update, you should always start a game with each civilization and make sure this bug does not occur, if it does, you need to locate the troubled unit for that civ, as this will always produce a crash.

This is true. Actually, you need to start a game in the Future era, so that way you cover the Early, Late, and Middle art define tags.

Otherwise, with Germany for example... you can start the game in the Ancient, Classical and other early Eras and not experience any bugs. But as soon as you hit the Industrial Era, the game looks for that Late art define tag for the Jet Fighter, and *BoOM* instant CTD.

Checking in the Future era covers all Era bases, so to speak.
 
I have Civ installed on a Windows 7 RC machine, all went fine till the turn just after 1500BC, it just says appcrash and blames CvGameCoreDLL.dll. so i started up my Windows XP virtual machine and copied over my Civ folder(i use nocd cracks even though i bought the game) and saves and loaded up my 1500BC save, now interface is gone and at the top i can see BUG failed to startup because its already started which is wierd but this exercise is only to test anyway, so i end the turn, a THE GREATEST CIVILIZATIONS event occurs, i loaded the save several times to check and yes it happens every time

After replacing the appropriate file, the Tornado seems to work in new games, but not in saved games already in the industrial era or later (see the second saved game attached [game in 1984 - the game in which I experience the original CTD]). I tried the saved game that I was having problems with begining in an earlier era to see if the German jet figther would be an issue. However, I now get a CTD ealier in the game. I think that I have narrowed it down to the Japanese or Dutch. I have attached the saved game [1867 game] if you would have an opportunity to look at this new CTD.

Grave: Very small text event bug very late last night (hence didn't take screenshot)--One of the "Earthquake" events, causes "TXT_KEY....blah, blah etc." to be printed on screen, even though the event worked properly...so quite minor.

Couple of points that are just my opinion....

Giving EXP trait +1:food: on all producing 3 or more, to my mind is just too much...A city with 3 "natural food" sources and 7 farms, is getting an extra 10 food, which is the equiv of 5 specialists.....:eek: Personally I removed it..

Caste System is a little too powerful IMO, unlimited Eng +2:hammers: from mines and quarries is a little too powerful...combine that with a IND leader and a plains/hill mine gives 7:hammers:....I tried a game as Louis, and Wonders were almost free to construct...I suggest just +1 extra :hammers: from Caste System....

Just my personal thoughts, hadn't played CIV in any form in ages, getting a little back into it last week or so...:)

I forgot to mention that I am playing v 2.02 (I am unfortunately, I am stuck with Vista). See if that solves the run time errors. Otherwise, when the turn ends, the computer will move the AI controlled players until a CTD.

I am off to watch the Pens.
 
Hi Grave,

I'm playing with my friends hot seat and we always have problems when Germany is in game. The problems are not always same, they are different like CTD, problem with jets, problem with hurry production(hurry production button doesn't work) , problem when we using Advanced start and build improvements on tiles and always happening to player who take Germany. We allways play industrial and modern era. I know someone will tell that we can play without Germany but we need some bad guy (Hittler) when we are making our history! ;)
Could you please study little more Germany and try to solve problems? :goodjob:
