[Beyond the Sword] History In The Making

Without even having the strength to read all 88 pages I must ask a few things....

Loved the way you added many promotions to aircrafts, Smart Bombs, Torpedo, advanced counterstuff.
BUT couldn´t it be possible to make some more distinctions. I mean the fine A-10 Warthog shouldn´t be able to torpedo ships, neither B-52.
So this brings me to my wish.
CARRIERS !!!!

Of course you should have an upgrade on this for the modern times.
AND why not create a light/torpedo-bomber that can land on carriers. Upgrade it to F-4 and the F-18 (for US , other basic for others, well F-4 for many)
Remove chance of landing on carriers for all heavier bomber.
This will make it a carrier group of fighters and light/torpedobombers.
Naturally the Torpedo promotion should only be for that new bomber variant.

If you are not interrested in trying this will it be hard to make yourself. I´m a newbie to Civ4 but ole ole Civ3 fixer. If it´s SDK. Python doing this I must pass.

Hm I seam to always start in BugMode when getting in Custom Game for this Mod,
also can´t start up more than 24 civs. Any hints on to get more ....

Didn't Tom Clancy use A-10 reserve planes in a "strike" against a Russian capital ship in "Hunt for Red October"?

I figure the "torpedo" promotion becomes an "anti-ship missile" promotion as things modernize. B-52's can carry hounddog missiles, it wouldn't surprise me if they could carry ASROCs.

It seems unlikely rather than something that shouldn't be.

Hi!

Just wanted to say that I played 1.54 for at least 10 games now (although I modified the xml in some ways - civics, cancelled a lot of the new "religious effects", tweaked some units) and the mod ist stable and IMHO the best I ever played (just won my first game on the 6th diff level recently :-) ).

Thank you very much Grave.

Does someone try to play multiplayer hot seat? I try and it work only for one turn :( In the second turn every player become AI exept last player! Is there some solution for that? Thanx

Try turning off DCM components (assets\xml\globaldefinesalt.xml - open it in notepad). I am quite sure DCM causes some trouble in MPs. I am not aware of anything else in HitM that may cause such trouble.

What of DCM> DCM_CIV_CHANGER, DCM_CIV_CHANGER_MODE, DCM_CIV_CHANGER_CHANGES or something else?

Each of the following tags turns on/off one component of DCM. Not all of the components are likely to affect MP games but Civ Changer is a strong candidate, Stack Attack is reported to cause oos problems. You will need to experiment for a while till you find the working combination.
DCM_BATTLE_EFFECTS
DCM_AIR_BOMBING
DCM_CIV_CUSTOMISER
DCM_RANGE_BOMBARD
DCM_CIV_CHANGER
DCM_STACK_ATTACK
DCM_OPP_FIRE
DCM_ACTIVE_DEFENSE
DCM_ARCHER_BOMBARD
DCM_FIGHTER_ENGAGE

Its DCM_CIV_CHANGER! Thanx, do you know what I m losing when turn off this? Will I miss some part of mode with this option off?

You won't be able to change Civs mid-game, that's all really.

I really like the sound of this mod, however one question I didn't really see answered but it may have been somewhere... Might be worth adding to your FAQ whether we need the Warlords Expansion Pack to download this mod. I don't have Warlords and don't intend on getting it. I decided Warlords was a waste of money for a single player gamer like me. So do we need it for this mod or not? Thanks Healz.

The Warlords expansion would, indeed, be a waste of money. However, This mod does have as a req. the Beyond the Sword expansion. BtS is NOT a waste of money for single player. All I can play is SP as I'm an OTR trucker and RARELY can find a worthwhile free WiFi node, and I am in no way disappointed I spent the extra buckeroos on BtS. :goodjob:

Ok, thanks. I wasn't sure whether when it said Warlords whether it needed components only released in that expansion pack. I have BTS which is why I was looking at this mod. I think though that you may have answered no to that question Hawk2112 am I correct?

BTS includes the Warlords features, with the exception of the scenarios. The consensus here is that the scenarios weren't that great, with the exception of Chinese Unification, which is. Warlords is redundant and outdated if you already own BTS. If Chinese unification sounds like fun, wait for Warlords on sale somewhere.

To use this mod you only need CIV IV and BTS. In fact, I ended up uninstalling Warlords.

I enjoy long ,involved games and I'm having a lot of fun with History in the Making. I'm playing as the Germans going for a Conquest victory, and I just beat back the Mongol Combat IV Curiasier hordes by spamming Zeppelins in my civilian cities and rushing them to the front. (Zeppelins are the second German UU and get a bonus against seige )

Ok, that was all I needed to know. Good. Thanks. I will download these when I get the chance as my Internet is almost maxed out and it isn't fun when it slows down...

I hear ya mate. Shaping sucks serious Nads. I wish data in Australia wasn't so damned expensive *Sigh*

Anyway, not to hijack, but yes, can definitely recommend BTS. Buy it. By now EB, Gametrader or some other chain type store should have it dirt cheap, and Warlords even cheaper if you decide you do need it after all.... but as mentioned, there's probably not much point.

And this mod would probably be one of my faves I've ever played for any version of Civ4, so yeah... big thumbs up.

Now all we have to do is convince Grave to include a damned Australian Civ in this thing and we're set.

With which leader, Howard :P? I still hope Grave will tweak his mod even more but it's by far the most balanced and well thought-out mod for Civ4 to me.

I suggest you make it easy for Grave- find and link the mod components you recommend, remembering that the Aussie Civ would need two leaders, UBs and UUs.
