Actually usualy two different things are subsumed under the category "fascism":

fascism and national socialism / nazism

So basicaly fascism clearly needs liberalism as prereq, as it is clearly an anti-liberal/individuell movement. Does it need communism as a prereq? Well, that depends on the precise kind of facism. German fascism / nazism does indeed need communism as a prereq. The italian idea of fascism not necessarily so.


Exactly. Which is why Communism is an "Or" PreReqTech, not an "And" PreReqTech.


If you look at the TechTree, you'll see Fascism's PreReqTechs are the following:

Requires: (Communism or Corporation) AND Nationalism.


The Corporation aspect is a reflection of Mussolini's "version" of Fascism, which actaully existed before Hitler's Nazi party. I'm not going to explain Mussolini's Fascist theories here, instead if you're intersted... Wikipedia has a great section on the History of Fascism.
 
Some of that is done on purpose. Numidian Cavalry doesn't require Iron Working, so that you can acquire them earlier. That's part of the "Uniqueness" of them. :) The ancient Egyptians had this kind of Cavalry long before the Iron Age, also.
I could look into the combat bonuses, though and see if I can balance them out better, but I like them not having the Iron Working PreReqTech. The Camel Archers are sort of the same way, too.

The problem is with how much earlier you can get them. The research cost for Numidian Cavalry is 1114 :science: (Animal Husbandry, Horseback Riding). Horsemen take 2974 :science: (Horseback Riding, Animal Husbandry, Mining, Bronzeworking, Ironworking). Spearmen, their supposed counter, takes 1000 :science: (Hunting, Mining, Bronze Working). [These numbers are from an Odyssey game speed]

It isn't that hard to get Numidian Cavalry before the AI has spearmen, and even then the Numidian Cavalry as 50% odds against spearmen with no extra bonuses for either unit. Considering that with a barracks and stable you can get Flanking III (65% withdrawal) Numidian Cavalry 'out of the box,' you don't lose many, even vs. Spearmen.

Just for the record, I'm absolutely horrible at fighting early wars, even on Noble. I've won twice on Monarch just by spamming Numidian Calvary. Maybe giving them a Bronzeworking preReq would help a little, while still keeping the 'early' part.

Are you using an English version of BtS or French? It it's French, it probably won't work, as i have <English> only tags in the XML.
 
A couple of comments concerning units:
1 - I think swordsmen should upgrade to armsmen rather than to macemen. This will also mean they will obsolete once armsmen are available which makes sense.
2 - Knights show up rather early. I can see the point in moving them to Feudalism but historically Knights are sort of advanced product of a well established feudal system. Also as pikemen show up later Knights have the battle field all for themselves for a quite a long time.
3 - Related to the above Light Cavalry seem obsoleted so early. They can be as good as Knights against some units with their bonuses but they are more venerable to spearmen so most of the time one would choose to train Knights instead of them.

In general I always felt that the Middle Ages are so short lived in Civ4. So far in HiTM even with the Odyssey speed this still holds. In my current game I wasn't able to use my Trebs before canons were already there. I think Gunpowder tech can get a little more expensive or require more techs.

One note about the earth map. In my current game 4 civs were destroyed and the BCs are not over yet. I did the honor to two of them. On the other side of the world both the greeks and the celts were done with. I think the Greeks in particular need some help as it is not quite natural that they get their a-- kicked and handed to them by the Sumerians and rather easily!!
 
excuse me..i would like to try this mod,but i would enjoy it in my language.it s not possible to make it compatible with all languages,using files of the same game in order to read in english only the innovations..?
if this is too boring,than may u tell me how to do it by miself?

I have English BTS and french Vista Home Premium 64 bits

ON a 210x192 map turns are 4-5 seconds lenghts 200th turn

That is the map created by Kurts-Roges in 2006, a civ4 vanilla map...

Could you create a map only of yours maps with same balance, after all i couldn't anymore loading mods, i can load maps...

I have a question : each once i open worldbuilder Civ4 crash so i will still test Mods that come with the game but i'm afraid :crazyeye:
 
The problem is probably your Vista 64. Vista has been known to significantly increase the number of MAFs prior to BtS. And while BtS has fixed the early MAF problem, the latter MAFs are still in, and could be whats causing your trouble.
 
I can run without no problem Carter 18 Civs and the worldbuilder after save

Civ 4 BTS 3.13 basic (not modded) function perfectly...

I adopted Vista 64 because Ram is more exploited

The applications in 64 bits, as you know, permit more than 2 Go of memory by application and also permit right using of 4 Go of Ram

But if Carter 18 Civs causes no problems and if the 24 and 34 civs versions causes problem, should be not a problem of .xml but of .dll

Because Xml in french or english version of bts should be identic...

Lachlan, go into Options, change the language of the game from french to english. As Grave mentioned he didn't translate the mod into french -> this could cause trouble.

2 questions:

1) Is it possible to steal techs in your mod? As far as I know I think it is impossible??? Or it costs maaaaaaaaaaaaaaany points???
2) Does free promotions option works?
 
This mod is awesome, but I there are some things I dislike

-One of the Reason why I dislike this game a bit is that almost every unit out there got a Flavor Unit Icon, I cannot instantly tell which is which, so please give them some Icons or default Icons.

-The Lag is worse in this game, this game need keal's Speed Mod in so that I can get into renaissance then a 30 second hangtime per turn.

-I've noticed that some of the religions have no temples like the Norse, hellianism, mexica, and Egyptians gods. I also seen that there are hardly leaders have there faviorate religions like Confucianism, and the new religions, including Mexica.

those are the three problems that I don't like about this game, This game is awesome if you can at least solve my two problems.

I also want to request

-Add in a custom soundtrack for this mod, for each and every age out there then the default music which is now annoying me.

-allow us to disable some religions so that I don't have 1 civilization per religion, (13 Civs = 13 Religions). It will totally reduce the lag a bit once I be able to have 4 civs and 4 religions.

-I seen some immagrants coming to town and so forth, however I don't see civilian ships coming to my cities by sea or air. So please make a ship or a airplane that carries people from town to town.

I'll look into that. It won't make it for patch v0.03, though.

Good catch on the Swordsman. I meant to do that from the beginning, but forgot about it.

It's possible to make it compatable with any language, however you would need to make your language's Language Tags. To save time and file space, I only used <English>. If you would like to translate HiTM to your native language, go for it! :goodjob:

There are many ways to steal techs... try them out. :)

But, my game is already turned in english since i have Civ4 US, Warlords UK and BTS UK, English isn't it ?

I tried Earth Map and random game : same result : crashon loading game...

Bah ! i play Carter 18 Civs map and no problem, i take more more fun with this map and Vista 64 which is marvellous for memory...

Can i expect a patch post 3.13 for enhance the Vista experience ? In one or two months ?

Just downloaded it, and I thought I'd note for everyone's benefit that 0.03 does not break saves from 0.02. So ya'll should download it now.

Hi there. Just donwloaded it, 0.03 patch included, and i find a mod with no words... It doesn't crash, so this is not the same problem Lachñan has. It is just that i don't see a word, not a single letter.

I first thought that maybe, as my civ is in spanish the problem should be that... But wtf i've already played hundreds of mods, all of them in english, and never saw that. Any idea?
