[Beyond the Sword] History In The Making

 Thanks to Grave for the 3.0 version, but I receive CTDs in the beginning of the game always! Version 2.02 was free of it. Here are my savegame & full logs. Python exception appears after load and the game crashes after two turns. :( I checked it multiple times and turned off almost all features of BUG mod but CTDs still peresent

First off: :goodjob: on v 3.00.

Tried out the Earthmaps, but got a CTD some 30 turns into the game with the 18 civs map. (Will check if it repeats itself.)

Is it just me or are there now fewer Earthmaps with HitM?

I'm new to HITM, so sorry if this was already answered in one of the previous 100 pages. I've twice tried to play a custom game, and both times, I unchecked the option that makes you go from first to worst place. Both times, I was in first place among the civs I had encountered, and I ended up getting switched to the worst place team. Does checking this option disable it? Do I need to do something in the folder to disable it as well? Thanks for any help.

Grave, excellent! I'll definitely download this; I've always loved HiTM, it was the first mod i ever played, and all the ones afterward felt empty without some of your additions.

In fact, HiTM insiped me to start modding! I was "hmm, what could this be missing?" So i added in civs and leaderheads, then civics, then i eventually started an entirely new mod.

Owed all to you  :worship:

HiTM - still the best non-fantasy/non-science-fiction civ mod in existence :)

i like the archery changes!

Thank you for the kind words! :goodjob:

Well, I played your save game until 1000BC (200+ turns) and I didn't run across any CTD's at all. I did run into a minor python error after reading the logs, but it involves that same issue that didn't allow you to build nukes. I removed the SDK code, but it seems I forgot about the python code?

Should be an easy fix once I sit down and find out what's wrong.

Other than that... your game played just fine for me.

Yes, there are fewer earth maps. I thought I had too many, so I got rid of a couple. I added yours though... because it's a nicely done Earth map. So I adopted your map as the "official" HiTM Earth map. :)

I kept one of mine in there too, mainly because it has random civs.

[/B]Now with version 3 on two occasions 20-30 turns into game. Vista 32, 1gb AtI card, 4 gb ram, should be more than enough

Can you post a save game for me to look at? What do your error logs say?

I'm afraid I'm not sure what you mean... can you describe it again?

There is an option on the custom game screen that says "worse to first challenge", or something like that. I have it unchecked. Yet part way into the game, when I am in first place, I switch to the last place team.

Interesting... that must be from the Assimiliation mod. I'll look into it.

Cool!:D Unfortunately, I get a CTD with the 18 civ map after 30+ turns (tried the Romans and the Egyptians)... Also, something else was weird: with the Romans I got a whole bunch of BUG ini file error messages, which I didn't get with the Egyptians. Very odd.

Otherwise, looking good!

For Grave-see saved file. Where do I find the error log file? I tried 2 civs and the same CTD.

When does the CTD take place? I just played through 60 turns (via AIAutoPlay) and didn't run into a single problem?

The log files are located in your My Documents/My Games/Beyond the Sword/Logs directory.

Oh, man, you have more deadly exceptions that me
What have we to do? I've tried many maps, civs and options before the start, completely reinstalled Civ4 - all useless

I have only two types of exceptions always - here are screenshots. Dear Grave, would you be so kind to see them? One is about "WBQuickSave" appears at the first turn and another (about "GetDCMNukesOkay") - before few turns to crash. Or they are the same "minor python errors" that couldn't execute CTD?

CTD occurs within a turn or 2 after save. There are 4 files in a folder including a Pythonerr2 file but I get invalid file when I try to upload.

First of all, enable full logging in ...Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CivilizationIV.ini file (at the end of it, change 0 to 1). After the crash game will hang and another civ-like application will appear which will offer you to dump logs (select "Full dump"). Then archive the folder "Logs" in the same folder where CivilizationIV.ini file is into .zip or .rar and attach here.

Grave,

Under the new v 3.0 I get the game taking control of my chosen Civ away from me and assgning me to a new Civ. This was not in your past versions, and I'd really rather stay with the Civ I've chosen through the whole game. Is there any way to eliminate/turn this off? This happens without my asking it to. I already have CivChanger disbled.

@GoUtes: it has nothing to do with CivChanger; its part of the Assimilation Mod, which grave implemented in 3.00.

@mechaerik: Thanks for your reply. Is there any way to turn this off/disable it that you know of? What I mean is, is there any way to disable the automatic changing of the Civs without totally disabling Assimilation?

I found annoying thing in v3.00 - when you point by the mouse at the name of your rival at the scoreboard, his info in down-left corner of the screen doesn't appears! The info was useful, because it contained + and - attitude scores and message "Refuses to talk!"
Maybe it's necessary to create just a patch for 2.02 version which kills "nuke bug" than a more buggy fully new version?
