BlaDipNES - A Fresh Start

Results for Spring, 2008 (Movement)

New most successful turn ever!

Probably due in most to the 13 holds. It looks as though this game (I mean Waaaaaaarrrr!!!) will wrap up this next turn (I mean season) unless something truly drastic happens.

Decloak: Lurkers do not trust Carthage. ;)

Lurkers have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. :p

What, can you not see what I meant? Can you please redo the turn to fix this, as you'd have to be an idiot to not know what I meant. I mean, if a unit is on a sea territory, then it's obvious that I meant F.

That's just a little bit ridiculous.

Splime, I agree with you, but it's not like it will make any difference at this point in the game... ;)

Well, consider that if I hadn't even put the A there, it would have been alright. The point is, I'm damn sure that you have some brains. Brains tell you that I meant to say F, but it was a silly little typo. of course, if you lack brains... maybe things are different. It truly is ridiculous.

Decloak: As comments from the peanut gallery, I have to agree with the Splime / Niklas side, in that this argument goes back to an earlier one in some Diplomacy thread (possibly this one) that the moderator is there to interpret orders, not simply to process them. If a moderator wants to act in the former fashion instead of the latter, then he has made himself irrelevant, because if that's the case, then the players don't need him--they can just play the game with each other directly.

If an order is impossible to execute because its conditions aren't possible, that's one thing, but if it's just (off-hand) impossible to execute because of some obvious minor flaw, that's quite another. It'd be the equivalent of if in RiskNES V instead of placing troops in Venezuela for Yellow team when it said "Mexico", all the troops were placed in W. Europe instead because "Mexico" doesn't exist.

Indeed. If an order is impossible (F den-swi) then it can't be executed. If an order is ambiguous (F mao-spa) then it shouldn't be accepted. But if an order is syntactically wrong, but there's only one possible interpretation, and that interpretation is correct, then it should be accepted. Anything else is just stupid.

You might not have even been in the advantageous position you are in right now had I treated MjM's slew of goofy orders with the same capacity for favorable reinterpretation you've come to expect for your own.

That doesn't make it any better. If he made the mistake with muddling up A's and F's, then he shouldn't have been punished. However, I thought they were different errors.

Anyway, either way, if a player makes an error with orders, the GM should really contact them first, instead of just going ahead and saying they didn't understand what the player meant.

Really, I have to say, it's a bit pathetic if you don't fix mistakes which only have one obvious interpretation. As Symphony D. said before, you are an interpreter, not just a processor.

Anyway, my next orders are likely to feature A fin and F pru at this rate...

Tell you what, I'll reinterpret your orders more favorably if you do the same for my AGP orders.

I would, except you've already been killed a few updates ago... anyway, if you're not going to do anything about the mess up, I'll live...

Huh? I sent in my correct orders already. Unless you're saying something completely different...

EDIT: I found the errors. However, they were, again, so obvious to what my intentions were, that I still call it pathetic.

Still, you did let me know that I messed up, even though you didn't tell me how...
