lol @ Tom Petty saying he had to degrade *himself* to work with Dylan.

Any other artist in the world, except maybe Johnny Cash, would have considered it an honour to work with Dylan, how bloody arrogant does one have to be to say that?

Then you should look out for some. Good music.

Edit: I'm actually surprised you haven't heard any Dylan song. Not even a cover?
I imagine he's heard Jimi's All Along the Watchtower.

I probably (and indeed have) heard some of his songs, I just didn't know who's they were.

Petty is a Dylan fan. But Petty has a dry sense of humor.

Perhaps Petty had to be paid off for putting up with Dylan, though I would have thought it the other way around.

Nah. Petty actually considered it an honor to do the tour. But hes also got a dry sense of humor.

He said he'd heard "The Times, They Are a-Changin'" before, unaware that it was Dylan.

Eh? Cash and Dylan had a pretty massive mutual admiration.

And you know this, how?

Well Petty himself has said (elsewhere, not in that weird press conference.) And dry sense of humor well I've seen it.

My dad said the best concert he'd ever seen was a Dylan and the Dead show in the 80s. I betcha the Dead were honored to perform with Dylan and didn't just do it for the money.

1986?

Huh. Most people I know who have seen Dylan say they love his album stuff, but he's kind of lame live. It could be due more to time-frame or the general increase of Dylan's lameness than anything else though. Although one guy I knew went to a Dylan/Dead concert and did an assload of drugs. I'm not sure what he thought of the concert itself, but you can't really call any night where an ambulance takes you to what may or may not be the Planet of the Apes lame.

It really depends on the person. Some people just don't like live things. I find Dylan live to be spectacular.
