Boff-06 Everybody Loves a Well Dressed Man (Meh, Emp, Iceage)

Okay with a chip on my shoulder I take up the task of conquering Thebes, I build more chariots, mass them fight off barbs blah blah blah... (uninteresting stuff)

Finally with my chariot stack of death I declare war on Hatty
Turn 1 of war I capture a worker (don't remember your guys' naming convention for captured one so he currently has a sign on him asking for a name)
Turn 2 my chariots regroup in a nearby woods and boy am I surprised...
4 archer's raskokinov said??

Anyway she whips another one next turn, doesn't help much...

I heal up and proceed south while building reinforcements...

and promptly turn around and decide to take Heliopolis (Jewish Holy city on a hill) that was scouted by our brave warrior, pictured are our brave 4 from the Thebes campaign (fifth is guarding Thebes) and another 4 from Erdine and Istanbul.

And after some inability to deal collateral(too many brave chariots died...)
Heliopolis falls

At this point, I stopped, as Hatty still has one more city, but our forces are a bit thin, recommend cease fire then take out last city... however she did have a settler in her city stack... Turning it over to next person

Coincidentally I played 25 turns (yeah bit much but Hatty needed her whipping and my rep needed saving :p)

Our two core cities

Neither Thebes nor Heliopolis needs a monument as they are both holy cities and we have NSR

Haha Loki wins the Official Ben Hur Award for Conspicuous Bravery Under Merciless Naysaying!

Thinking we need a few more troops to beat the barbs back now haha.

Cheers!
-Liq

Our barb defenses are still strong believe it or not, think I left behind a chariot or two + some archers, just wait for them to step into the open and that is why I had chariots in forests and hills btw, to stop the barbs from going into them, they would either attack me and lose, or step onto open ground and lose.

Nice work Loki! That's the last time I question your war tactics  S.ilver going soft from easy Boff-0 wins with rolling armies of Trebs.

Congrats on that war Loki... true that I had a little oversestimated Hatty ...
Let's finish IW now... no I meant Hatty ;)

edit: we should work that second cottage on Istanbul :)

Yeah my micro kinda went down the tubes halfway through the war, should have switched to the second cottage after I built it, but forgot :smoke:

I took your economic suggestion and built two?! cottages at Istanbul, and once the barbs started clearing, managed a farm and an ivory camp at Erdine.

Our glorious work force is now 3 workers :king: NEXT PLAYER NAME THE NEW ONE I STOLE FROM HATTY PLEASE :goodjob:

what's ironic is we are actually 1.1 power of nappy... just shocking.

So anyway Thebes isn;t food rich either (like 5 plains 1 grass hills 2 plains cows 2 sugar and a river of plains.

The Jewish holy town on the hill is hogging 1 west of rice but meh, might want to settle 1 west of rice anyway or maybe dumpster dive for that 2 fish town in the south  We have time before settling the west so we can argue dot maps until then.

By the by, the Captured worker name should be Hatty's "Donation" ("Bequest" is a nice choice for the next one) and the worker you named needs to be along the lines of "Chagrin" so uh...Meh's "Discomposure" works! Cut and paste for the winz!

So if Ras or DE are able to play, go for it! It's the weekend, lets bust a few turns out!

Cheers!
-Liq

Named one I built "Meh's Consolation Prize" as that carries a feeling of chagrin and I wanted to build a settler there but we only had one worker... so he was my consolation prize in a sense.

May have considered razing Heliopolis if it wasn't the Jewish holy city  and 1W of the rice is still useable if we really want to settle it.

I looked at the last part here for quite some time. It strikes me to miss three commas and a paranthesis end. I can't read it. Seriously. Then again I am tired.

I would prefer playing Tuesday, so if Ras can get to it before, great. If not, I will be stretching to the full 48.

May have considered razing Heliopolis if it wasn't the Jewish holy city  and 1W of the rice is still useable if we really want to settle it.

Just loaded the save and took a close look at that city site... I would have razed it anyways! The position is absolutely terrible and won't be able to do anything due to competition from 1W of rice.

Anyways, nice job with routing Hatty there. The only problem I forsee now is that we will be stuck alone on this continent with the crazy conquering Frenchman. Not really an enviable position; we'll want to run for Optics so we don't become too technologically backwards.

Also, Judaism landing here REALLY SUCKS, as it means the other continent (which has the other 4 civs), is a happy nest of Hindus. Praying they manage to land some more religions over there.

I am hardwired to not raze holy cities so may have not been the best choice, and I am also of the belief the Frenchman must die(sorry Raskolnikov) as he is tied with Shaka in my heart in terms of threat watch..., so I would vote crushing him either Renaissance or medieval depending on our situation, and optics sounds like a plan, but I would go Currency-COL(AVOID THE RELIGION)-Civil service before heading towards optics so that we can get maces with machinery(yeah somehow I don't trust Nappy) and we should probably run some priests at some point for a shrine or two

And who knows, if he does what he tends to do and drowns himself in unit upkeep and falls behind techwise we may be able to crush him with maces + trebs (god help me with managing that, but luckily we have our resident Treb expert S.ilver here )
Or who knows, maybe phants + cats as we do have jumbos

I'm really a peaceful builder at heart I swear!!!

I am also of the belief the Frenchman must die(sorry Raskolnikov) as he is tied with Shaka in my heart in terms of threat watch...

No need to be sorry  I fully agree with you... Bonaparte has to die! Taking him out with a phants/cats stack seems the most viable solution (I am sure you guys will want to unleash the mighty chariots again ;)). And as for optic, I don't see a huge need for it. Even if you don't have trade possibilities, settling a 3 civs continent will make us so much stronger than the other four that trades won't matter much. So we should really aim to kill Nappy (needs HR and construction) and then setlle all the lands (needs COL). This is assuming another AI is not hidding in the fog (has anyone checked the EPs repartition, perhaps there are some clues there)...

Cheers,
RRRwtf!

Well it's nice to see some of the things I thought should happen, have indeed happened! I suggested the chariot attack on Egypt, and to build cities in certain spots, this is good news since it means I am learning to play like better players....

Loki congrats on your war, perhaps S.ilver has competition in that regards!? I agree that Nappy has to go, and it makes sense, since he is close by as well. (thinking it will take more than chariots) :p

Definitely want the other continent to land some religions, so although courthouses are necessary, they should be delayed long enough to lose the race towards confusion! I hope IW is still on the agenda as far as techs go...and then we can move towards some techs to help the economy, prepare for Nappy, and rule OUR island...

I hope IW is still on the agenda as far as techs go...

Yeah, I think that we must finish IW to unlock metal units and for the rice. With writing and pottery, we can start our economy.
Perhaps going for priesthood before makes sense as it's a little detour and having a prophet could be interesting (I usually go with a GS first but with 2 holy cities we could finance our Rex nicely)...

I am not sure I can play that before DE yet, butI will post first if I do :)

Pickled, I believe, from my (old!) experiences with BUG logging, that you can press Ctrl+Alt+O to alter settings, find the tab named "log" or "logging" or "autolog" or something like that, and tell it to write the autolog in BBCode (and what you want and don't want in the log aswell).

I think I could get to it tomorrow, if needed. Plan is Iron Working and Chariot Rushing (TM)?

Oh and nice pun about the chagrin. I lol if it is unintentional.

Thanks Diamondeye for your patience to my stupid questions

Figured it out, tested it here and deleted it. Now I just have to get the screen shots.... do you guys just use the print screenie button? Do you have to be quick in order to catch them? Sorry again for the questions, I ask, because it is my goal to join one of these or your others SG games one day and of course, if I can't take pictures, print the log, and make asinine comments, well what fun would I be :p

PrintScrn, yes. The game will store all your screenshots in

Documents/My Games/BeyondTheSword/Screenshots

in there, the easiest thing to do is creating a new folder (name boff-0, per example), and then open the "raw screenshots" from the main folder, do whatever you want to them (scale them, remove unnecessary parts, paste Isabellas face onto them) and save them in the new folder (boff-0).

Then go to photobucket.com or a similar site, press "Choose Files" under "Albums/Upload", find the folder and select which screenshots to upload.

If you like some others have trouble remembering exactly what the screenies look like or which ones you need to upload, an easy rightclick-open with-Windows Picture viewer works well.

Hope it helps!
