Right now I'm learning Python. (Got through about 50 pages of some book on it last night.) Once I have a reasonable amount of knowledge under my belt I'm going to improve the military advisor screen. My immediate thoughts are that it would be nice to have a "units per city" view. My question for you guys is this: how else could the screen be improved? If I see good suggestions I'll make an effort to make them happen. Thanks.

This may seem like a silly question but...is there some way to upgrade your units through the military advisor screen like in Civ3? Am I missing something?

I've been looking at this screen trying to figure out what to do with it also.

I'd definately like to see

Old
sort units by cities or by type...
ability to upgrade those units...
New
injured units... and how many turns until the unit is again at full health or their heal rate...(friendly, neutral, foreign and access to a medic)
casualty reports of the current conflict...
draft and war weariness reports from the current conflict...
Improved
how much my military is costing me per turn...
civ power rating comparisons... (Their best unit we know of is... Estimated troop level... basically, whatever the AI knows and uses against the player)...

Agree with everything so far. The advisor screen now is crap. I'd love to see this stuff implemented.

Dom -> He's pretty cool, but I hate him anyway. ;)

Homegrown -> A good bout of suggestions, I especially like your "war casualties" idea. (I think it would be neat to see how many units you have killed too.) I would need to come up with some way to name wars for it to work. Now, when you only have two civilizations that's easy. CivA-CivB war. (For example the German-French war.) I guess if there is a second war between those civilizations you can append a II to it. But what should it be called when you've got three+ civilizations? World War?

Personally, I wish the military advisor would allow me to quickly find my most experienced units.

When it comes time to start upgrading, I obviously want to upgrade my best units first, but where are they?

Hmm .. how about if the most experienced units (of a certain type) appear first in the list? I was planning on breaking it down by unit .. so you'll see your pikemen on one line, then your war elephants on the next one .. etc.
So in this case the most experienced pikemen would be on the left hand side of the first line. When you mouseover I guess it would also be useful to see the promotions.
