Definitely good points there.

What sort of civs could go in between Portugal and Zulu? So far, out of the commonly suggested ones, the only ones I can think of are -

Venice
Vietnam
Shawnee
Seminole
Timurids (but the Silk Road achievement might render that moot... Maybe.)

Any others?

If Italy is in then Venice is out. No Timurids. So the Sioux, maybe?

Here's my tentative list, then:

1. Assyria
2. Brazil
3. Italy or Indonesia if Venice below
4. Morocco
5. Poland
6. Portugal
7. Sioux/Seminole/Shawnee
8. Vietnam or Venice if not Italy above
9. Zulu

It seems unlikely that if they already add Italy in scenario they will add Venice as a civ....

I've never been as convinced as everyone else that they are definitely putting in a Southeast Asian civ, but it sure would have been nice. Vietnam is still, of course, a possibility--but since this expansion's focus is so much on Ideologies, I'm slightly worried about how a Vietnam would be presented. The thought of them getting Ho Chi Minh as a leader with a UA about Ideology and a Vietcong UU makes me slightly queasy. That country has a history far too long and rich to be reduced to "the Vietnam War civ".

Agreed. From my understanding, Venice is pretty much what defined what a city-state is in modern terms. They make no sense to add.

I agree. I dearly, dearly hope that if Vietnam gets in it won't be represented with only Cold War stuff (not to mention many overseas Vietnamese absolutely hate Uncle Ho). Certainly, having a UA or a UU relate to the Vietnam War isn't a bad idea, given how iconic, say, the Viet Cong are, but there's more to good old 'Nam than that.


Although I won't rule out Indonesia yet. As I lay out in my schematic above, if we have Venice instead of Italy, Indonesia has a good chance.

There are two slots between Brazil and Poland.

Morocco, presumably confirmed, falls under one slot.

Italy, already with strong cases and theories, are further bolstered with the deliberate wording of "Playing as Italy in Scramble for Africa" where Belgium, confirmed not to fall under alphabetically, is just "Playing as Belgium"

It's a stretch, but that's what speculation is all about here and I'm not claiming it's ruled out. Just more unlikely

It would also rule out the Khmer, Comanche, Cherokee, Benin, Dahomey, Mali, Mississippi, Gran Colombia, Holy Roman Empire, Normans, and Khazars all of which make the rounds in lists. Apache and Ashante also get out from the alphabetical.

Okay, so this really, really reduces Indonesia's case. If there's gonna be an Asian civ, I'm gonna bet on good ol' 'Nam now.

Well, there's no specific achievement for the Zulus winning the scenario either. Though, I agree it's strange.

Well look at the phrasing for the Scramble for Africa Achievements

"Playing as Belgium, move your Stanley Explorer to within a tile of England’s Livingstone Explorer."

"Playing as England in Scramble for Africa, complete a railroad from Cairo to Capetown."

"Playing as Italy in Scramble for Africa, earn the VP for finding two Natural Wonders."

Belgium who we know are not in the standard game doesn't need to be qualified "in the Scramble for Africa" but England does. Meanwhile Italy follows the same wording as England.

Actually, I'm just bored and not really reading too deep into this. Probably means nothing.

I saw this pattern just now! The "in" there could mean that Italy is also "in" the game.

A civ can marry in as per the the achievements - could be a reskinned Austria or the UA may have moved elsewhere. Nothing excluding the Moors but no clear acheivement.

Only one civ seems to have been one they could use for one of their puns outside the normal UA and victory achievements. It's between British Invasion and Radio Free Europe on the list.

With that in mind, the first two civs may still be Indonesia and Morocco.

Well, even if the achievement deconfirms Italy it doesn't deconfirm Venice.

Snif, I really hoped for Majapahit/Indonesia, Italy and Morocco to be all in the game, but this achievement list says that one of them is going to have to be out. (And Venice alone don't fill my Italian ambition :C ) (And Vietnam is not as cool as Indonesia >:C )

Same here. I'm really disappointed if Indonesia/Majapahit doesn't make it. I've held my tongue for a while but I feel like 5th installment, 2nd expansion is too long for them to be neglected. Way too long
