I know this has been talked about but I cannot find the site again and would like to let everyone who needs a good laugh to see this

Yesterday we had Bread dipped in an egg batter and fried for lunch today this is what the schools are doing now instead of saying french. What is with this the fench fries aren't french french toast ain't french so why change the name that I wouldn't be surprised if many french are happy to see go.

Please could someone explain to me why in the world would someone do this?

I dunno. Cause some country far way that once helped you guys become a country refuses to help you annihilate another country?

I think its funny that french fries dont even come from France. They come from Belgium.

This is because of some jingoistic neanderthals who equate disagreeing with our government with supporting terrorism.

I predict this ******** "Freedom Fries" etc. trend will disappear no later than a month after the war is over.

I cannot believe the SHEER ABSURDITY of these morons!

It's ludicrous! It boggles the mind that our nation is inhabited by such francophobic, hick-like dunderheads as to promote such a pointless policy!

Let alone that our own government endorses it! It's not so bad when our people do it, but to think that those we have chosen to lead our country are practicing this as we speak goes beyond words!

We really are in a downward spiral as far as society is concerned...

I like the SNL joke about it (majorly paraphrasing; definetly got some of it wrong):

"Yesterday the cafeteria of the U.S. Congress changed the 'French fries' on its menu to 'Freedom fries,' and 'French toast' to 'Freedom toast.' The Congressmen were all so happy with themselves about this, they all started Freedom kissing each other." :D

Don't you hate it when people follow a policy you don't like?

Don't you hate it when the representatives of those people who follow a policy you don't like follow it too?

Democracy at its worst.

Kind of hypocritical that the French marching through the streets waving signs is wonderful, but American's renaming their foods to thumb their nose at France is moronic. There is more than one way to protest.

There's a difference between something like a tax policy and something as childish as this.

There is also a distinction between appropriate and innappropriate protest.

I myself am guilty of the innapropriate protest in another thread, however it's a very different situation between an individual and an entire nation, which is engaging in such activities in my name.

Some people carry signs, others rename food. Just a form of protest.

And you make that distinction? :p

Remember the picture effigy (sp?) of Saddam and Bush in bed together being marched through the streets?

Yeah, real mature and appropriate :crazyeye:

America is a nation of individuals. Don't flatter yourself, we don't need your name to rename French foods. I'd rather have them doing that to express their discontent like something serious & stupid, like a boycott.

Morons need a way to protest too!
They can't string enough words together to make a sentence, let alone come up with a cogent argument, so I guess this is it.

Hic1: "We don't take too kindly to folks not takin' too kindly to us 'round here."
Hic2: "Easy, Skeeter; He aint hurtin' nobody"

To make a powerful statement to a country that has nothing at all to do with these foodstuffs that the US doesn't like their opinion.

I though it was obvious.

"Easy Skeeter, she ain't hurtin' nobody!"

As i stated in a different thread. You can call it freedom toast.

Come to think of it. Lets name the movie the Freedom Connection.

What about french letters? Are you going to call them Freedom letters? Not if you are Catholic!!
