Brits! Voting today?

I voted on the principle that it might, just might, make the Police Authorities more accountable.

I had a miserable choice of candidates though. You could make a first and second choice.

I only made it to the first choice. The Labour candidate (being a woman) was the least worst I could find.

I think I should vote if I possibly can. If no one votes, they'll likely take the vote away from us.

Mind telling who you voted for?:)

From the choice of Con/ Lab/ Lib/ UKIP/ Indy as a proxy I voted Lab no second - instructions to second a green if there was one. Voted myself Lab and second Lib. UKIP but no Green kind of freaked me into putting a second place to slap the nasty parties into place.

Shame was no Green, none here either I would have given them my 2nd if I could. As it was me and you went the same then! I think it's between Lab and Tory anyway as we have the bristol mayor election in our area which will get more voters out, but just in case I put Lib Dem 2nd.

@davo I'm a little worried by the low turn out. Hell if I wasnt a proxy I could have forgotten myself. If I cast 2% then some really marginal freaks could have got their vote out.

I haven't voted. No literature was provided and I heard nothing about the elections other my polling card arriving. In fact, I only remembered that day was voting day because someone mentioned it in passing at lunch today. An uninformed elector should not be voting at all.

Turnout looking very low at current. Area next to me, Wilstshire, first to declare, with only 15.3%

First time I've intentionally not voted since I turned 18 (not counting the odd local election where it's so low priority it completely slips my mind). I think it's a dangerous idea and if it takes hold could lead us into the American situation of electing judges, LEA's and god only knows what else. The PCC elections were the camels nose in the door and hopefully the record low turnout will make the bloody thing go away.

Apparently, one polling station in Newport was completely unused!

Yes, I heard that. They opened the ballot box and lo! nothing in it. Highly amusing.

So that was easy enough to count, then.

That's interesting. There maybe a law against it. But there's no reason why a whatdoyoucallit overseeing the ballot would be registered at that station, anyway.

That seems undemocratic. These poll people should be able to vote, and letting them go to another station doesn't seem practical, since they usually have short brakes. I guess they could vote by proxy.

To be honest, I don't know why everyone doesn't just vote by post. I find it much more convenient myself.

Sussex gets a tory :( I guess the Hastings Labs, Brighton Greens and Lewes Libs were too uncoordinated to defeat the suburban homecountites.

According to the EDP: "Former police authority chairman Stephen Bett
has been declared Norfolk’s first police and crime commissioner (PCC)."

It seems that it is: Yahboo sucks to candidates running as party
candidates from the Norfolk turkeys and swampies.
