[BtS] Dales Combat Mod!

I am using Slysoft Game Jackal with a no CD option. I will try using the CD too and see if that helps.
 
Definitely try with the REAL exe, as problems with the exe are usually associated with a nocd hack or something.

Specially considering so many of us aren't having the crash and it appears to be just you guys. :)
 
Nope... I am playing directly from the CD and as soon as the 2nd civ gets discovered, the game crashes. I am deleting the mod and just going with the WOC mod pack.
 
Yep, I also still get the crashes using the original exe file. I'm going to try to do a complete reinstall now to see if that works...

I experienced the same bug/crash last night. I have the new 3.17 patch installed and your latest version of DCM installed. If I play the unofficial version of DCM, there is no crash. I can play a full game right to a late techs and achieve a bug free victory. Dale, this Civ discovery crash bug is real. I would be most grateful if you can find the bug and squish it. :hammer:

As I expected, a reinstall didn't help one bit. The crash still occurs. I haven't tried the unofficial DCM by Xenomorph, so I can't say if that's any different.
 
I am running a 2.21 GHz computer with 2 gigs of ram and a NVIDIA 7600 video card. My game runs smooth for all other mods, but it crashes the second I discover the second civ.
 
That would certainly be strange if my version had no problems, but if it is then I'm sure it would be rather simple to narrow down the possible suspects by comparing our two codes for differences.

Strange as it may be, your unofficial version does not experience the Civ discovery crash bug. I agree with your assessment. :agree:

Dale, I realized ships can be bombed when they are based in city plots but not when they are stationed in fort improvements. Is there any way to fixe this?

I can fix that at the same time as the second civ crash.

Do you guys play with espionage turned off by any chance?
 
I just play. I press play now, then random on the settings, then either warlord or chieftan on the difficulty and I go. The game runs smooth until I hit that 2nd civ. I don't mess with the settings a whole lot... I just click next and play the game.
 
Espionage is on. To test this out, I've started duel maps with 6 civs, to guarantee contact within 5 or six turns. So all settings are default besides the extra civs on the duel map.
 
Okay, found the possible problems. Recompiling and testing. Should be able to get a new version up in the next day or two. :)

Oh, and I've fixed the fort thing too.
 
Just did a couple of test games, one autoplayed for 300 turns, and a few other games till I'd met a few AI's.

It would appear the 2nd civ crash is gone. :)

I'm just surprised no one else mentioned this before.
 
Good work, Dale. What caused it in the first place?
 
I'd missed a couple of espionage option settings in the SDK.
 
So my complaining FINALLY paid off!
